Man I brought my wifey the same one last year off a guy&his sons she loves it 700 prairie 2004 with very low hour&miles on it she won't let it go for nothing lol thanks for your video we paid 3000 not 3500.
I don't know where you're getting your nonreliable information but Kawasaki's are one of the most reliable brands out there. They're Japanese 100%, and Japanese quads are the best. I have this same quad and I have 24,000 miles on it as of today. It's been very reliable. And yes, Kawasaki's are made to steer with the throttle and the back end.😉
I think Kawasaki has a bad reputation with me because my experience with the Brute Force 750 has been horrible with smoked belts, overheating, water and mud in the airbox, and some other things. The Prairie 700 I had ended up burning oil at only 1000 miles, the carburetors never seemed to fuel properly, and the 4 wheel drive system on all Kawasaki four wheelers have been questionable at best. Motorcycles, different story. Lawn equipment, different story. However, I steer clear from them. I know it can many times boil down to how you treat and maintain your equipment but Kawi’s just don’t suit my fancy.
@@BurningRubberDC My 4wd actuator went 19,000 miles before I had to replace it. My carbs have pushed over 5000 gallons of fuel without a single problem. I've never had to touch them other than rejet for high elevations where I live. Sounds like you bought an abused machine that ingested dirt into the carbs and cylinders. I will grant you that the Brutes run hot, and if the rad gets plugged up with mud just a little bit, it won't cool well enough and overheat. But all powerful engines are like that. Can Ams and Polaris will do it too.
As I said, it can and does sometimes come down to how well somebody treats their equipment. But, I’ve sunk many Honda’s both old and new. Beat the crap out of and neglected them and they were always were there for me. If I’m going out deep in the woods where nobody can find me, there’s not a chance I’m taking a Kawasaki. Especially since they cost a fortune and your only utility option is the Brute Force. Had Honda’s with thousands of miles and multiple owners and never had an issue. Buy a pristine Prairie 700 and it is a piece of junk. I know it seems irrational but I’m never buying another one. A Bayou maybe.
@@BurningRubberDC I bought a pristine Prairie and take it out in the middle of nowhere 80 miles from my truck in spots where I might not see another person for weeks. Never been stranded. The Prairie certainly isn't junk. Let me know when your pansy ass Honda gets to 24,000 miles and we'll talk then. I could never take a Honda that far without falling asleep in the saddle. Btw, a new Brute around here is the same price as a 500cc Honda.

I have an '05 and when I was up around 400 lbs I got mine to 65 or slightly better mph.. Definitely scary. I need to do some work to the old girl but still loving her since new in 2005.
I have owned 2 of the kvf 700s and have not a bad word to say about them.i dont drive mine in mud and water up over the handlebars either. torquey machine for sure.put the dynatec cdi mild clutched and a pipe and filter
I agree but it seems like this particular suspension setup is very top heavy and the geometry isn’t right. You really have to steer it with the throttle if that makes sense. I have had a lot of straight axle quads and none of them do what the 700 does. That’s my observation after riding it for a while. I ended up selling it because it was a huge piece of crap haha.

For the most part your information was good, but you missed a couple things. One major problem with these is the swingarm bearings wear out pretty quick and it doesn't matter if you buy OEM or aftermarket. Another problem is the rear wet disc brakes. They say are good for the life of the machine. I had one and we had to get in there and repair discs and bearings and it was an absolute nightmare. Other than that there pretty good machines. I replaced the engine brake actuator on mine too. Mine had high mileage so I expected some of those problems, all in all they're pretty good.
There’s a lot of these for sale on Facebook market place with all the maintenance done and probably won’t give me problems I’m no mechanic but there’s a place witch does work on atvs not far from my house but the people who are selling them say they’ve had no problems with them at all they just don’t have the time to ride them I’m definitely thinking about getting one it definitely looks like a lot of fun to ride I won’t have any passengers on it so I won’t have to worry about people burning themselves
I just sold my prairie 400 and bought this exact bike with 180 hours and 1100 miles and it needed a little work but I’ll have it running in about 2 weeks when parts come in. What’s your overall opinion on it?
Extremely powerful with low, mid, and top end. Stout drivetrain overall. Braking is incredible especially with the special Kawasaki wet brake housed in the rear differential. Belt drive is very smooth. Front locker is a plus. Looks great and sounds great. I bought mine because I thought it was in great shape but turned out to be a let down. It had a lot of probems most of which exceeded the value of the machine so I let it go. Big bore ATV’s can be money pits regardless of what brand they are so keep that in mind when you’re fixing it up or repairing it down the road. Overall though, it is a stupid fun machine and it has a very big comfortable seat with a large rack capacity.
@@BurningRubberDC What where the things that went wrong on it? Mine needed a plastic piece for the carb watercool filter that had cracked opened and a new radiator fill cap because the piece for the overflow hose broke off. And it seemed like someone didn’t tighten the valve lock nuts enough and the rear cylinder intake came undone and made it have a weird vacuum on the carbs but i think i’ve fixed that.
@@marshallives658 Mine burned oil pretty bad so blue smoke was pouring out of the exhaust. Shortly after owning it, it would barely run so maybe the carbs were clogged, not really sure. The exhaust would get so hot it would boil your left leg. That was about it.
I prefer the Eiger because I want something simple, reliable, light, easy to work on, and smaller. The Kawasaki is none of those things (In my experience owning one). The Kawasaki has a ton of electronic controls, when it breaks it’s hard to fix and good parts are not cheap, it’s very heavy and hard to get unstuck especially if you’re high centered or something, and it’s a huge heavy bike. But, it is stupid powerful, comfortable, smooth, has a front locker, fun as ever, and will go well over 60mph easy (I have a vid on acceleration. Just depends on what you want. I’d always go Japanese over the other stuff just for the sake of saying that. Hope this helps sorry for the late response.
@@BurningRubberDC cool. Yeah I hit you up cause I was curious on an Eiger I was looking at. I just picked one up in a trade deal. I love it's size and power. It's not overly big. Rear suspension feels sporty cause I like to ride dirty power drift slide around. It's a stock Eiger to semi auto. Going put exhaust, open air box and jet. I had a Kawasaki 650 vtwn in the past. Good quad but much bigger and heavier. I prefer more light weight quad to drift. Funny you say it had 4x4 actuator electric issue didn't work. happy with my Eiger. Hoping to own long long time
I agree, size and power are important in a quad and I think the Eiger is a good mix. Plus, it’s very analog, easy to fix, and easy to own. It should last you until you decide to sell it.
