Was never a big fan of Omega limited editions, but have to say that from time to time they really hit the nail on the head. They did a great job with this one!
I've loved these ever since I got into the hobby 4 years ago. They were expensive then, but not nearly as much as they are now. Of course now that I'm ready to spring for an Explorer II, these are 50% more than that (and I've seen some for more). Thanks for the info on the production, as I was not aware of that. I really would love it if Omega did a 3861 version of these. I like their racing dial automatic 44.25mm models. However, I'm really not looking for a Speedy that size, even if I could pull it off on my 7.25" wrist. The only other Speedy I may like more is the Speedy Tuesday Ultraman. Those were hanging stead around $8K for a while and now even those are getting up there in price. Those that say just save up for the watch you want obviously haven't been around long enough to see what happens to prices of desirable models.
1/8th of a second accuracy is related to the frequency (beats per hour) of the movement. 28.800bph is 1/8th of a second accuracy. This ref. 1861 is 21.600 bph so not up to 1/8th of a sec
