Great video! I've got a 2004 AWD Aztek that's identical to yours, right down to the paint color. I've also owned two others as projects and I just love them, they're super fun and dependable. Enjoy yours, and I hope to see more videos on it

You know, I didn't really think I would enjoy this little SUV as I have. Really surprised how well built it is for a GM product. We go everywhere in this thing and it has plenty of space to haul luggage and whatever you find along the way! I know that I bought a bit of time by installing that shift kit and I will have to go through the transmission at some point. I will be rebuilding that and keep this fantastic car in the family. Thanks for watching, I still have things to do with it!

Well now you know the Dorman part number to get a replacement tray. It was a matter of time before the battery would collide with the pulleys.

Yeah I really wanted a before video where I showed the transmission acting up. That was truly a goofy thing to have happen, but it displayed so many more problems that I just put it on the lift and started making a video. Thanks for the feedback and I should have really done just a bit more video. Next time!

This is a great video! My 2004 Aztek was a great find, but my 2005 low mileage Aztek has a bad engine. Worse yet, it's rusted underneath. My 2004 daily driver has a problem. A piece of wiring about six inches long with a plug on one end and what looks like a magnet on the other came out from under my dash. Now my right turn signal clicks rapidly, but there is no right rear brake light or turn signal. Do you have any suggestions or ideas? Many thanks...

This video has helped me out a tremendous amount. Everything that is wrong in this video is almost identical to my Aztek problems. But My Aztek is a rally edition and now it’s idling high around 2000-3000 rpms when it’s in park or neutral. Also it seems to almost be in limp mode to where I have to force it to go faster than 25 and when I do the car shifts hard to the left. Do you know what may cause this?

Something idling that high would likely be a large vacuum leak. There is a cable driven throttle butterfly so if that is all working smooth, I would look at the idle air bypass/control and also a gross vacuum leak. I had a bunch problems with the purge circuit, so it might be a good idea to make sure the purge valve at the engine isn't leaking.

Wife decided on an Aztek back in 2003 brand new. It has a a tranny problem from day one. Goes up and down thru the gears fine, it is just at a dead stop taking off that it jumps and gets going. Thinking a sensor or a bad torque converter.

When we got the SUV, ours had a slipping/clunk on 1-2 shift and 2-3 shifts. It would then set a check engine light for P1811. This would make the transmission almost inoperable. It would also set the code P1811. After shutting the engine off and restart, it would shift normally. The installation of the Trans-go kit solved the long shift problem but I gained the same problem you have now, the clunk sometimes from a dead stop. I also changed the valves in the transmission as you could see in the video. No change there either. I assumed it was a line pressure problem caused from friction material worn. I looked something up, "gm bulletin 04-07-30-013b Buick rendezvous" and found that GM has a TSB that refers to the MAF being dirty. Not very likely as I don't think engine speed has much to do with it, BUT... I do see my long term fuel trims at -15 to -17 %. Not sure why this is happening so I replaced the rear o2 and the catalytic convertor to fix a P0420 that was being set intermittently. This did not change anything either but get rid of my code for CAT. I am going to take some MAF cleaner and really go over the elements in the MAF to see if I can bring the idle speed up a bit since it is at 625 RPM. Seems a bit low and if it were more near 700-750 at idle in gear, that would help. I will post here if I come up with anything. Thanks for watching!

I went to a trusted mechanic and he told me it had an old stored code relating to a sensor . If i'm not mistaken there is one right inside the bell housing, that is about the only sensor I have not replaced.@@afternoongarage

Oh never heard of this. There is so little information concerning the Aztek or Rendezvous. I am interested in what you are talking about here and will do some more research. Thanks for the info, and glad that I am not the only one that is having this issue.

I remember a picture diagram from years ago. I swear it showed a rather large sensor inside the bell housing , I guess it reads of the shaft that the torque converter slides onto. Just changed the filter and fluid last week and added a bottle of Seafoam Trans Tune. It still have the occasional jerk when giving it gas but, a whole lot less of a jerk now.@@afternoongarage

OK great. I am trying to buy some more time on this transmission but if you do a Google search for this using Buick Rendezvous you can find a number of instances where this is happening to owners. I am going to mess with the fuel delivery and then see what happens.

Went today just to make sure the battery was good because it sputters are carinae when starting it .. after they tested the battery the odometer light turned off again all other lights work in the dash . Please someone help , is it a particular fuse or why would it go off come back on the go off again after months of it working ??

weirdly enough, my aztek had the same oil leak caused from a loose filter. maybe it is some sort of known issue with these cars
@afternoongarage
@afternoongarage 11 месяцев назад
Yeah, I thought about this a bit. I think it is the angle the filter is mounted and it is mounted to the block in a "V". I use a channel lock type of filter wrench to get them off and then hand tighten them on. I think it is just the awkward angle of the filter.

I have one with bad motor mounts, are they hard to replace? I love my aztek.
@afternoongarage
@afternoongarage 10 месяцев назад
I think it has a three point on the bottom and then the two mounts that are on the core support. Those core support bushes get quite sloppy. I remember with a Grand Prix with the 3.8 SC, I was able to rotate the rubber so I could get some more life out of the upper mounts. These weren't that loose but these mounts are very accessible. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
