2004 Silverado 1500 Starter Replacement 🔧🔧🔧 

I'm having an absolute blast changing my starter right now. Starter body hits the frame/crossmember. Solenoid hits the dipstick tube. Cant get my hands between frame and manifold to do anything about the wires and not enough room for the ratchet or wrench to do anything. Starter won't move far enough forward for me to drop it with the wires attached. The snout is still at least an inch inside the bell housing, maybe a little more. This is so much fun!

This is the best video I've seen regarding subject matter. I'm not a fan of narrating diy mechanic work. Its annoying because 100 percent of you tubers just talk out of there ass. . Your vid ain't no exception but its tolerable. You stay on topic and don't off on tangents and go over the history of a starter solenoid . Thanks for going over the heat shield. Thx for the vid. I found it easier to pop out the inner fender liner and get to the wires with about a foot of 1/4 extensions and a universal swivel.

Good and simply explained video. I am assuming it is the 6494s starter for the 04 Silverado which fits many GM vichels with 4.8 and 5.3 evgines from 97-2006 models

I just spent an hour trying to get that thing out because every video i saw said to do the wires last and i didn't have enough clearance to get the stupid thing out

The sensor wire in the engine block by the starter , is that the cam sensor... ? You should replace it along with the starter... Or if the cam sensor goes bad replace the starter also... ?
