Thank you so much for posting this!!! My 05 Freestyle has been surging and I had found on a website that cleaning the throttle body with cleaner may be an answer. I had not been able to have it done because my husband was out of town. Today it went into fail safe mode and go figure he's on the 15 hour flight from India. You video helped know where to find the air intake and do it myself so I can pick my hubby up at the airport in the morning. Thank you again =)
I had the surge issue and car was sluggish. It felt as if it was heavy. The ob2 codes came back for vacuum leak, miss fire, piston ring, catalyst blah blah.. I knew it wasn't any of those, so I bought some throttle body cleaner. Low and behold, my throttle body was EXTREMELY DIRTY. Especially from the inside. The difference in the car after cleaning is like night and day! Don't believe the dealer when they say it cant be cleaned. I did it and my car drives like NEW! Thanks for uploading
Thanks we swapped my sons in about 15 minutes. We didn't have to take anything off the air tunnel. Actually most annoying part was my son dropped a bolt which we had to backup for or it might have been even faster lol.
I just got a letter in the mail informing me that Ford is recalling them. If you take it to the dealer they will for free clean the throttle body and reset the ecu!
@barbjuhasz1 The Air intake is the front part where the air filter is at. If you look at my video during :43 seconds he is removing it. During 1:25 you can see the whole part. Hope this helps
My brother has a problem with his 500 05 a mechanic told him that it is something abt the throttl body (i will assume tps). Symptoms car dies,no enough power when it hits the pedal..... I read something abt this issue on this ford but not sure what exactly is the problem Any help?
In my 2006 Ford Freestyle Limited FWD, the wrench light comes on when the vehicle comes to a complete stop, but then resets when I turn the vehicle off. Will cleaning the Throttle Position sensor help? And if so, what would be the best way of cleaning it?
Jacob Witmer hey I have the same thing mine wrench light come on while I drive I turn it off crank back up run good for bout 30 min.then the same thing all over again did you found the issue
I would like to know the answer to this also. I called my local Ford dealer and they say they are only cleaning them. But I thought the recall was to change throttle body.
