It’s a sedan that, by modern standards, is built like a truck. You get the robustness of truck construction with the refinement and comfort of a sedan. It’s a damn shame cars like this aren’t made anymore. That, and there was a long-wheelbase version of these cars that had a six-inch longer wheelbase than the car you showed. All six inches went to the back seat making for impressive legroom and spaciousness.
Really didn't know they had a fairly advanced suspension and steering setup back then, you never hear people talk about that. That's amazing and you're the first I've heard it from.
Just bought an '04 Signature yesterday. 97K miles, absolutely rust free, spotless undercarriage. Runs great so far. Been looking for a CV or GM for awhile. LTC's were just simply too $$ for me. Until this one popped up. May be the cleanest 97K mile, 20 year old car I've ever seen. Considering the 33 year run from 1978 - 2011, and the number of Police, taxi, and fleet vehicles sold some people think that the Panther platform has more miles driven and hours operated than any vehicle ever produced. I can believe it. Lots of them have 200-250,000 miles plus. Rides like a dream. So quiet that I'm half afraid I won't hear sirens. Have to keep an eye on the speed because you don't feel like you're moving that fast. Absolutely love the car so far.
