To all the bikers Never let a woman tell u to get rid of your toys meaning your bike or your sports car. U will regret it and u won't be that happy with your girl as much. If she doesn't like your toys then she's not the right girl for you.

I must say that that review put me in a happy place. I've been lucky enough to ride both the ST & GT for an extended test ride. Both were comfortable, the GT's longer wheelbase makes it a good long distance motorway/A-road tourer. But the ST was so much fun on the twisties I thought it was more fun to ride as an everyday bike. I've turned down a couple in the past and regret it very much now. By the way that exhaust looks like an aftermarket system from Trident which sounds epic! Thanks to those Guys at the campsite, we are now fortunate to have all this content. Nice one Sir!

I've had my 2011 ST for 9 years now, I'm often tempted by other newer bikes, but then I just go for a blast on the Sprint, and realise it's everything I need and more. I don't think I'll ever sell it. It's such a good all-rounder and seriously under rated/overlooked by many. Great video, I really enjoyed it thanks.

I’m considering buying one. I currently have a Speed Triple. But, I’ve been wanting a sport bike with taller gearing. Is the ST a top end, vs bottom end, performer? Thanks!

@@68orangecrate26 The easy option for 'personalising' gearing --- go up/down teeth on the front/rear sprock. Ideally, do it when you need to replace the chain, then they all wear from the same starting point

Thanks Andy enjoyed hearing how you got into biking😀 My colleague at work rides a Sprint ST and he got me back into biking a few years ago by giving me a step thru moped during a train strike when my local station was closed. I'm in Aus. and I love my ST. I stepped straight up from a 250cc twin to my ST because it felt so natural. I loved the fact that what you do with your right wrist is what the bike does and the triple is very forgiving of rookie mistakes. Now that I have been riding quite a while I find it easy to keep up with my friends on straights and in the twisties regardless of what they are riding and I generally get off after a long ride feeling alot fresher than they do (we're all older guys). Just a great all around bike and it's staying in my garage regardless of what ever else I get.

My first ever motorbike after passing my full test was an 02 plate triumph sprint rs 955. Loved every single second of owning that bike but trying to get storage for an 02 plate bike and convincing the other half to be lent forward for hours on long trips became the only reason I sold it as I used it as a daily commuter but what a bike. Highly recommended and pretty cheap on the secondhand market

Thanks Andy, great vid, I had a 2010 red version which I loved. Great ride, great sound. I got hoofed off it in Spain and it was written off. So sad, as Triumph had ceased production of the ST and only made the GT which just wasn't the same. A great trip down Memory Lane.👏👍

I had 2 of these and you just reminded me how good they were. Comfy, sporty and fitted me at 6ft. Did everything from commuting to a trip to Croatia via the Alps. I'm really not sure why they have that T plane engine these days... the old 120 was superb. To BMW's advantage though, otherwise I could be persuaded off my GS onto a Tiger.

I’ve owned my sprint for 3 years now and it’s been an awesome bike to own (and mine has ABS). I only recently did my review of the bike a few months ago. It certainly is a great bike, it’s a shame the sports tourer was dying out when they were released, I would love to see Triumph release an updated model. Couldn’t agree more with everything you said mate, the bike is amazing and really is something that should still be considered if someone is looking for a sports tourer 🤘 Great video mate, stay safe out there

A good review of a solid all rounder, this is the bike that took me from Yamahas to Triumphs in 2005 and I've never looked back. I know you shouldn't have to 'tinker' with modern bikes but if to take the mirrors apart (very simple job) then add adhesive wheel weights to the body of mirror stem you totally alleviate the vibrations.

I bought a 2003 955i ST a few years ago. Put 40,000 miles on it since then. Lovely bike. I think you were amiss by not at least mentioning how tractable these triples are. From low down in the rev range they can be loafed around town without complaint and still accelerate quickly. At the top of the range they come on hard and rev freely. Missenden Flyer, your reviews are top notch.

Had an ST 7 years ago and absolutely loved it and that particular bike in this video is stunning, if I still lived in the UK I'd seriously be interested in buying it. Moved to Spain 6 years ago and it was a bit pricey, transport, Spanish plates etc to bring it over and ended up buying a 1250 Bandit over here as there were no decent Sprints for sale at the time. I had an 05 ST with ABS. Absolutely loved it, especially after I had the TOR exhaust fitted and mapped. At 178cm, found the early low handlebars a little cramped and my aged knees suffered after a couple of hours. Would have another in a heartbeat, especially with a metal tank rather than plastic.

I had one and still think its one of the best bikes I've owned and I've had a few. The aftermarket pipes you have on it (ixil) sound not far off what the standard exhaust sounds like. Great all day comfort, fast and well behaved in the bends. Recommend one if you want a fast cross county road machine.

Just found your channel, what a great review and a great choice of bike :) I had a '05 model that I used mainly for travelling 200+ miles each way for work (I worked away and needed to carry a weeks' worth of kit in one go) but it could also go for a blast out quite happily. Fantastic machine, which I made the mistake of trading in for an '05 955i Daytona, a decision I deeply regretted. The mirror wobble is a well-known issue, the solution is 3 wheel weights glued to the underside of the mirror housing, that sorts it out. That Ixil exhaust on your test bike doesn't sound much different to the standard can, but believe me one of these with a Trident system or even a Triumph TOR can is aural poetry when you open it up.

I have owned a 2007 version for 8 years now and still use it for commuting. The only issue I have had in that time is a reg/rec failure which also took out the stator. I replaced the lot myself for the princely sum of less than £200. Range for me is well over 200 miles on a tank and with Michelin road Vs fitted, it is a great bike to ride.

Thanks Andy. A spot on review. I had a 2006 and absolutely loved it. I was the same, first time I saw one, I wanted one. Only downside was it just wasn't practical enough to go touring in Europe with the missus. Panniers were a touch on the small side and even with a topbox it was a squeeze to get everything in. Missus didn't get on with pillion seat either and was always sliding forwards into me. For me personally I'd have another tomorrow. Fantastic bikes.

I had the 2003 955i that I loved until a car - wall interface destroyed it. I was going to get the 1050 but got a 99 blackbird instead that I swear is the same as that old ST but a bit more in every way. The 1050 you rode had the trident aftermarket pipes and higher bars with factory heated grips. Whilst white wheels were an option, they weren't standard as such. Absolutely amazing machine that I may end up owning one day. Beware modern petrol that can rot the plastic.

I do enjoy you classic reviews, I do like these 2000 era bikes. I also decided I needed to learn to ride after a conversation on holiday with a group of German Honda Goldwing riders, learnt last year and building up to that Goldwing one day.

Nice review Andy 👍👍 Triumph got the 1050 Sprint ST soo right when Honda got the Vtec VFR so wrong ! I traded my ZZR1100D for a new 1050 Sprint ST ABS in June 2005, they came with grey wheels not white, I loved the bike, took it on track & abroad many many times including Romania for the next 6 years! A knee injury meant I swapped for a 1050 Tiger SE which I still have, as well as a 94R 1050 Speedie, just love those smooth 1050 motors 👍👍 The latest T plane crank engines are far too vibey & are horrible by comparision. I think Triumph are missing out on a big market sector by not fitting a smoother 120 degree 1200RS Speedie engine with chain drive into a 1200RS Sprint ST. Come on Triumph we don't all want to be Charley McGregorson 😜😜

What a good review of a bike I’ve always wanted to try myself, I’ve just bought a speed triple 1050 RS but would love one of these as a 2nd bike, The looks of the ST are so much better than the GT too especially the exhausts under the seat 👌

I love my Tiger 1050 sport, that triple is a beaut and the simplicity of technology levels appeals too the older rider like myself, back on the scene at 60 after an 18 year lay off. I will be adding one of these to my stable next year for sure just too ring the riding changes now and then.

I had a 995i the fuel injection version before they released the 1050. I rode it all over France, through the Pyrenees, literally hours in the saddle, but the thing for me was always the triple sound. Still love that sound.

I had a new Sprint ST 955i in 2001 and kept it for 16 years. It took me comfortably all over Western Europe in that time. Plenty of power and handled like a dream. Just wish the MT07 had more comfort but it is a lot lighter which was the main requirement in 2017. My best mate had the 1050 and we had great times on the roads. Like the review and totally agree with your findings, Ride safe.

Greetings, I traded my 2000 Daytona 955i on a new BRG 2001 Sprint ST. I added a Sargent seat and a Staintune slip on. I absolutely loved it and kept it longer than any bike I've ever owned. I did my longest day ever on the Sprint, 970 miles. It never went wrong and the total repairs for 5 years and 28k miles was a taillight bulb. An absolutely brilliant motorcycle. Note if you're having the fuel tank venting problem, check the gasket under the fuel filler. I found mine was clocked wrong and was covering the vent hole.

It is a great bike I owned a 2005 one myself at that time they did two different height bars bars that you could choose when you ordered it The exhaust on the one you were on is an aftermarket rear pipes the original one was a single box under the seat with three pipes sticking out with a bolt on trim to make it look nice

That sound has just reignited the regret I have for selling my old speed triple 1050, one hell of an engine. The clock was touching 60k when I chopped it in and still ran faultlessly like it did on day 1. Think I might have to give one of these sprints a go 👍

I bought a 2008 Sprint ST in 2019 as my re-entry into motorcycling. Awesome motorcycle. I rode it over many of the roads you covered in your recent adventure in Canada. (I live in central BC an hour south of Prince George.). Sold it and purchased a F850GSA so I could also enjoy the forest service roads. I don't regret getting the BMW, but I still miss the rush of the Triple and its exceptional exhaust note.

Met my riding buddy a decade back when he showed up at a group ride on a green Sprint ST w/ his wife on the back. I was on my much loved '08 Bandit 1250. We rode like that for the better part of the next decade. He defected (briefly) to a Concours 14, but it didn't last. He showed up one day on another Sprint ST... this time in the brightest RED ever! Beautiful bike that got compliments everywhere we stopped.

My riding story is very similar to yours; rode in my late teens/early 20's but took a long break due to marriage, kids etc. Then one day in 2010 a co-worker of mine showed up with a new bike he'd just bought and that lit the spark for me. I did have a blue 2015 Triumph but it was a Trophy SE; lovely full-featured sport tourer but plagued with a number of recalls.

Great review again. I did look for one for a while (I too thought it a great bike), but I still haven’t ridden one. The bike I currently have, and after 11 years ownership, I’ll keep, is a BMW R1200S, which I had no interest in until I saw one in a Triumph dealer. I’d called in to look for a Sprint ST, but as soon as I saw the R1200S and test rode it, I had to have it. The R1200S is a bit marmite, and rare as hens teeth, but if you get a chance to ride one, I’d like to see what you think. From what I’ve seen of your videos, and taste in motorbikes, my money is on you not being too keen (but that’s ok). My mum bought me a Dinky toy motorcycle when I was about 3 or 4 years old. Loved bikes ever since - had to get one as soon as I was old enough - a BSA C15.

Great review of a classic, in 2005 I was going to work in Italy for two years so wanted a sports tourer, it came down to the Sprint which was just released and the Aprilia Falco which was in its last year of production, I rode both before opting for the Falco which was just that bit more sports orientated and quite a bit lighter but the Triumph really impressed me.
@MacBob
@MacBob Год назад
I nearly bought a Falco back in about 1999 or 2000. Great bike and engine but let down by what appeared to be poor build quality. I'd be interested to see how they are holding up 20 years later
@yonniboy1
@yonniboy1 Год назад
@@MacBob The later Falco's were of a better build quality, I've a friend who owns a 2004 Falco and it's in mint condition but saying that he only ever rides it in the dry and it's kept in a heated garage with the rest of his bikes.
