It's such a shame that these days, on the race coverage, the cars are so quiet, when they should be loud as hell. This is properly great to watch because you can actually hear the noise over the commentary, just how it should be! Fantastic race to watch.

That’s just fox. I know everybody loves to hate on NBC simply because Rick Allen and referring to it as “Nothing But Commercials” but their car audio is noticeably louder than fox’s and a big reason why I prefer their coverage

I've been waiting for this race forever! I was rooting for Jarrett so hard because he was always one of my favorite drivers who struggled the better part of 3 years up until this point, and Yates was my favorite team as a kid, particularly the #28 with Ricky Rudd. This race also is sentimental to me because it was the last race I watched with my grandpa before he passed two months later. It just takes me back and it's emotional for me all around. R.I.P. Grandpa and R.I.P Robert Yates.

The old point system was far superior to the one in place now. The +5 bonus points for leading a lap and an extra +5 for leading the most laps, mixed in with +5 per position (I think 195 points was the max points a driver could get in a race) added to the importance of having a good car and driving consistently. The points system now is extremely manipulated with the “playoff” system where points are constantly being reset and it’s a face off in the last race. It cheats drivers and just takes away from the authenticity of the overall product. Please go back to the old point system and do away with the stupid stage racing. The stage racing ruins momentum of the race and creates a manipulated race. The racing in 2022 is great though. The new has allowed for some wonderful and competitive racing!
@justinturley7071
@justinturley7071 Год назад
I’ll agree. While I do love a lot of racing nowadays, the playoff format is stupid and not really thought through. In the old point system, the reason a driver would win a championship would be based on wins, top 5’s, and top 10’s. Who got less DNF’s or not. And it was a yearly points system, where anyone could win. And the thing that gets me, is the fact that if you had a DNF at the Daytona 500 and finished dead last, let’s say, on the first lap, a single driver had to win a ton of races and finish in the top 5 a bunch of times to even consider getting that 1st spot, that’s how crucial a championship meant back then. Hell Matt Kenseth won a championship in 2003 and he only won 1 race. The Case format was pretty much the same, except it counted wins more than top 10’s and top 5’s, but despite the flaws in the Chase format, we can all agree, in the old points system and the Chase system, the driver who was 1st in points doesn’t have to defend his first position in a championship race, it’s bullshit how the points leader has to race in a race where he could potentially lose the championship in a race where his championship should have been clinched a week ago or 2 weeks ago. In 2022, had it been ran in the old points system of old, Chase Elliot would’ve won the Championship, and it wouldn’t have been close.

There are only 4 drivers in this race that are still in the Cup Series today.

Actually 6. Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Ryan Newman, Martin Truex Jr., and J.J. Yeley. But I think Kurt’s retiring at the end of the 2021 season.

Got up at 3am to watch this race. It was a Ripper. Very Iconic Race. Michael Waltrip flipped for the 800th time. Mark Martin went on an epic Rant in his interview. Scott Riggs went end over end. And thats just the tip of the iceburg.

I disagree. I really liked the original chase format like this because consistency and running well over a stretch of races still mattered. It was ruined when the 2014 playoff format started
