With an 11-1 record, the White Sox had one of the best postseasons ever. They had dominant pitching, as shown by the unbelievable stretch of four complete games in a row in the ALCS. The offense came through in the clutch. The 10 year anniversary is approaching and this team remains the pride of Chicago baseball.

I always tear up when I see Paulie's slam. The sorrows, the pain, the anger all erased in one swing of the bat. The Cubs might be on the way to win the World Series but god damn they will never top what my beloved Sox did under that crisp October moon of 2005. PALEHOSE NATION!

El Duque's Houdini act vs. the Red Sox as the White Sox sweep defending champion Boston... A.J. Pierzynski "steals" 1st base vs. LAA... Sox starting pitchers toss 4 complete games to beat Angels... WS Game 2: Paulie's grand slam & Podsednik's walk-off HR... Geoff Blum's 14th Inning pinch-hit HR... Juan Uribe's in-the-seats catch... Sox are champions winning the same way as on Opening Day: 1-0. Thanks, Dad for taking me to my first baseball game at Comiskey Park in 1972 and allowing me to fall in love with the White Sox. No Chicago championship will ever mean more to me.

I know this comment is from 5 years ago, but my mom just posted a video of game 2 because she and I went to that game together. My mom is from the South Side and has been a White Sox fan since forever. As a family we used to go to games together in the cheap seats and I would hold my lucky troll doll, sing along with all of the at bat songs that Nancy played, and cheer along with Hawk Harrelson. Robin Ventura was my first crush. I met Ozzie at Sox Fest and he gave me a kiss on the cheek when I was 7 (cuz I'd made him a drawing). My mom and I were at that game (THE game), on the first base line in Sox ponchos and caps, and we screamed until our lungs gave out. That grand slam? Incredible. That moment of them winning? Unforgettable. I'm so glad my mom was able to see them win and I'm so glad your dad gave you the opportunity to fall in love with the Sox at old Comiskey. Let's go, go go White Sox!

It's not the Cubs that will fade this moment but rather the media. So often they are in to the next story. Remember growing up seeing the Buckner play? Kirk Gibson homer on one leg? Fisk off the pole? We were shown these time and time again. The media doesn't show the Konerko granny, the Pods homer....they are on to the next thing.

Chicago Street TV well, back in the day, WGN was mainstream in a bunch of states in the midwest and down south. So if you werent from chicago and you watched WGN for sports, you either liked the cubs or cardinals. Thats kinda why...
@stephenkammerling9479
@stephenkammerling9479 2 года назад
@@danny7024 I'm slightly off subject, but not by much since you mentioned Cubs and WGN TV and its relationship to team's popularity. Cubs are exhibit A on why televising home games DOESN'T, at least in long run, keep fans from attending games. I'd be speaking this to Arthur and Bill Wirtz, George Halas, and the tunnel visioned founders of the NFL if they were still alive. The Cubs were a staple of afternoon TV in Chicago when they were playing at home. If Cubs didn't draw well during 50's and 60's, it was because they STUNK and not because of the televised home games. I could go on, but this discussion is about the White Sox.

@bee boo I will disagree a bit about Thomas. He is a Sox legend and all, but his impact in the 2005 team was limited, he had like 40-50 games in the season, none in the postseason. About all the others, they made the team great. I'm a fan of the Red Sox myself, but I really love this middle infield with Paulie, Iguchi, Uribe and Crede
