Process is similar for passenger side door (less connectors). I haven't looked at the rears but they will be very similar. Look for the screws and covers in similar locations.
My window switch was broken.. Used this vid to get to the point where I could replace the window control assembly.. worked like a charm for my 2006 Sonata !! Not hard at all to do.. The only challenge was getting the little speaker off.. Thought I would break it.. it takes some force. but eventually popped.
Great production - short shots in sequence. Love that I don't have to R&R the door panel to replace the broken mirror. This is the 3rd one my kids have broken in about a year, and I can't get foldaway replacements. (Epoxied the 1st, had my mechanic do the 2nd, and got the 3rd from Rock Auto.)
Thanks so much. I watched 3 videos before this one and each had a piece of the puzzle. Your video had everything I needed to get my door panel off. Yea!
He cut the speaker? Brilliant!!! All you have to do is drill out the rivets and the speaker assembly comes right off, then use screws to replace the rivets.
Hi, I'm confused about what to do with the yellow clips. Can you clarify? Also, my main purpose if I'm going to do this is to replace the main window switch. Do you know if the panel removal is necessary to replace the switch? Thanks!
Good video, nice and easy to follow even without audio on. Something I love about Hyundai's is that this method of door panel is similar on nearly every model from at least 2002-2012 that I'm aware of. I haven't worked on any models since 2013, so hopefully they've kept this easy technique.
Thank you for showing me how to electrically disconnect the upper door speaker. My finger tips are bruised from pressing in the wrong spot. Under the foam...jeez!
I got the full inner panel off and am stuck at the last step. I took the 3 torq screws out but there is a large plastic piece keeping me from sliding panel off. Any suggestions? MY window is all way down inside door and i simply want to be able to close the window. Thanks
Is the plastic piece white? There's a white plastic piece with 3 "fingers" on it that is part of the assembly process and not critical to anything. I bent the fingers to get the inner panel out. Some people cut them off.
There was only one problem here, why I am looking into this is to find how you remove one from a door that is off vehicle? do you try to plug the door into the car your fixing which has a door that your trying to fix....I am sure this sort of problem has come up on folks that the window motor has stopped working, that is what I need to see, but thanks....
Glad to help. Things like this are pretty easy, but it's super helpful to watch someone do it first and see whats on the inside. Helps you get it apart with less chance of breaking things.
I'm thinking the window motor or electrics to it (switch most likely) failed. To get it up you'll have to undo the motor and see if you can pull it up through the access ports. If that doesn't work, after pulling the motor you'll have to take off the whole inner panel and try to get the window off the regulator. I'd advise you to test if your problem is the switch or motor. Broken regulator will be obvious if you get the inner panel off.
The switch works, window will go up and down about 3 or 4 inches only. I'm trying to take off the inner panel, something won't let me remove it. Any videos on that?
The glass window and exterior door handle/lock is what's preventing you from removing the window regulator. (Inner panel). I would either use the electric motor to move the window up/down until you can see the two bolts through the access ports. or remove the window motor, and move the "gear" not exactly a gear but you'll see it behind the motor. Turn it by hand to move the window up/down. remove the two bolts through the access ports. Grab the glass from each side, one hand on the front, and one hand on the inside of the glass. Life the window up into the closed position and use several strips of clear packing tape to hold the window up. You'll also need to remove the exterior door handle. and screw behind one of the black clips behind the exterior door handle. Also, three torx screws where the door latches with the car. Now you should be able to remove the window regulator (inner panel) by pulling the top part of the panel towards you, and lifting the bottom portion of the panel upwards. **removing the window glass and removing the window regulator is a pain in the butt** I wish I made a video when I had to go through this whole process. Hopefully these instructions help somewhat. The next time another window gets stuck I'll make a video of it.
The issue was the cable shredded and wouldn't wind or unwind, I took off the motor, removed the regulator coupling half, got a hold of the cable and cut it. Window worked manually and we taped it up. Regulator changed and back to normal. Thanks everyone for the help, the videos are very helpful. Cheers!
I wish Hyundai would have added a couple of inches of wire to trunk and gas cap lid switch so it could be a quick switch replacement rather then having to tear everything app art...bad engineering there imo...unless i'm wrong and just have to pull harder to have switch and wires come out...
