Awesome video i did the same thing you did but, maybe not as detail same year rav 4 08. Great suv we bought it pre certified with 3100 miles in 2008. a couple of recalls that Toyota honor now still no problems at 201,000 miles!
Thanks doing this video, I sprayed water on my engine just what you did and everything is doing fine. Always a pleasure to watched your videos I’ve learned a lot. More power and God bless! #rav4ever
Great video, thanks. I use Simple Green, but I don't have the nerve to hose mine with as much force as you. I use the Mist setting on my nozzle to slowly wet it until the water runs. I also leave the engine running the entire time and for about 10 minutes after completion to help with evaporation/drying. Washed my 2010 V6 at least 5 times like this, zero problems.
Great vid mate have subbed.I have seen a vid where a guy used armorall foaming tyre cleaner on the engine bay components with great results .Just spray it on let it foam up then wipe it clean with a rag or cloth.
I would avoid watering down the fuse boxes, alternator and the ECU which is very delicate. You can wipe those down instead with a rag and spray with a spray bottle. I use a leaf blower to dry things. Armour all the plastic to bring back the shine.
Hi Master , I saw you did a great job after all, but just wonder your car have any problem? If you spray water on the engine and electrical connectors. Thank you if you can answer,
hpmc020607 water damage occurs when air is drawn into the engine through the air intake system or when a vehicle remains in deep water for pronged periods causing corrosion (such as a flood). Spraying the engine with water is similar to driving through a puddle and typically would not cause any damage. Just make sure your reservoir caps are on good so water doesn't mix with any of the fluids.
Can you tell me after putting all this water in the engine and surroundings. How long your car last? You never put water in the motor or electrical circuits
The copper connector to my positive battery terminal does not come off at the terminal. I have to separate the connector at the next bolt closer to the cables. Since the metal copper is still attached, it's hard to get clean. It looks like the square nuts are holding the copper connector to the terminal. I cleaned it but I feel there should be a way to remove the copper connector piece. Any advice is appreciated.
I have a 2008 Rav4 V6 and I noticed that in all the videos the vehicles never look like mine. Is there a big difference between the 4 and 6 cylinder engines?
The theory behind most of the services is the same, but there is a substantial difference in access and part locations on a 6-cylinder versus a 4-cylinder.
I just paid $1,400 for damaged caused by rodents to my 2007 RAV4. Now that it has been repaired, I want to wash the engine bay, can I do the same as you did with this 2008? Anything that I should cover before?
The engine is sealed to keep fluids in and water out. If your air box lid (air filter) and fluid caps are on, you're safe to clean your engine with soap and water. Electrical components affected by water are likewise protected. The alternator and battery are fine to get wet. They're exposed to water regularly driving through puddles and the like.
heyitschino nice catch. I did notice the leak, but elected to clean and watch it. It's just a light seep at this point. If it progresses any I'll do it and make a video.
if anyone has a battery with the hole covers, dont let any of the solution get into the battery cuz itll neutralize the acid and youll be buying a new battery.
Nope, the engine is sealed to keep fluids in and water out. If you have fluid and airbox lids on, you'll be in good shape to clean up the engine bay. Thanks for the question.
Got balls, giving the whole engine bay a really generous amount of shower is not my cup of tea... covering some of the delicate part wouldn’t hurt... just saying, better be safe than sorry later on
My rav4 is 2004...so i can wash the whole engine(just wondering since yours a 2008) and also my dashboard is kinda making a noise...pls make a clip on that.... Thank You for your upload
Simple Green is excellent for cleaning the entire engine compartment. If you don’t let things get out of hand, and use it on a somewhat routine basis, there’s no need to pull the battery or put forth any other special efforts. I have a 2010 V6 Rav 4 with 100K miles and it looks as good now as the day we brought it home.
Clean engine of rust? Go to Home Depot and purchase gallon of 40% vinegar and and a plastic spray bottle. Spray hose clamps and bolts with the vinegar. Repeat over three days. Rust vanishes!
I didn't, I sprayed it with some cleaning solution and cleaned it like the rest. The alternator, battery, starter, and other electrical components are subject to water loads as part of everyday driving, like the carwash or splashing through a puddle, and in some cases submersion (like a Jeep offroading through a river with nothing but a snorkel on the intake).
