I hope that someone interested in the speech would take the time and listen to the entirety of it - that's one of the goals of my channel, to listen to speeches in their entirety and give some context to it too.

Yeah, but also he was the prime minister, the head of the goverment. It is the prime minister's job to appoint competent people to be part of the goverment. And if it turns out that the appointed people are not the best for the duty, or not good at all for the duty, then they should be replaced. But also this speach is not the only thing aganist him. After this people were protested in Budapest. And then riot police were ordered to end the protest. The riot police did not were any ID number. There is footage of the riot police using mass dispersal weapons unprofessionaly: They are shooting tear gas granades at the protesters heads. They are shooting rubber bullets at heads, some cases causing lasting eye injury. There are also footage of the riot polic using more than neccesery force aganis peacefull protesters. Riot police were beating up basicly anyone getting in their sight. People who did not actually protest but were just passing by living their daily life were also beaten up. And after that Gyurcsány said what the police did was totally correct procedure, and decorated the chief. Should I say anything else, Ildikó?

Nem a megszólaló személye számít, hanem a mondandója: legyen az motiváló, a korszellemre jellemző vagy mondjuk jelentős hatású beszéd. Tehát megállapításoddal szemben nem aszerint válogatok, hogy kik a 'nagyjaink', ami még az enyémnél is elfogultabb szempontrendszer. Egyébként, ha már személyi kérdések: Gyurcsány Ferenc ennek az országnak a miniszterelnöke volt több évig, ennyiben nyilván kiemelten fontos, hogy milyen beszédeket mondott, szimpátia ide vagy oda. De ha egy teljesen véletlenszerűen kiválasztott felszólaló mond egy hasonló hatású, hasonlóan sokat emlegetett beszédet, azt is feltöltöttem volna.

Sok év telt el,és ez a birka magyar csürhe( tisztelet a kivételnek), azóta is csak azt a néhány kiragadott mondatot szajkózza, rohadtul unalmas. Igen, zártkörben, a párttagoknak megtartotta a fenti beszédet, amiről, ha nem veszik fel, valószínűleg a mai napig nem tudunk. Meg költségvetést hamisított, amit a saját pártja elöl is eltitkolt, és megnyerte vele a választást. Nem csupán a beszéddel van baj, sőt a beszéd a legkisebb probléma, a baj a beszédet követő nem-lemondással, az MTV-székház ostroma utáni nem lemondás, az október 23-i tüntetésen azonosító nélküli rohamrendőrök gumilövedékes lövöldözése utáni nem lemondás az, amivel problémánk van. És az, hogy ez a következménynélküliség okozta a 3. Magyar Köztársaság bukását, Orbán Viktor leválthatatlanságát, és Orbán Viktor ellenfeleinek össze gyurcsányozással való tökéletesen működő elhiteltelenítését. De ne legyenek illúzióink: fideszes körökben is elhangoztak/elhangzanak pontosan ilyen és ehhez hasonló beszédek, ugyan ilyen őszinteséggel a párt és a kormány működéséről.

I'll try to give you some insight, but this is a really complicated situation. First of all, Gyurcsány has explicitly admitted to voter fraud. (Faking stats about economy and lying about the state of the country to voters prior to the 2006 elections, for example) He also admitted that they have "done nothing for 4 years" (they have been the ruling party since 2002) and that they have been "lying all the time". All this was more than enough for the opposition parties (mainly far-right, nationalist party Fidesz, currently the ruling party) to character assassinate Gyurcsány and the political left in general, and make people blame them for everything that has gone wrong since the system change in 1989. Most people have only heard the few critical sentences of the speech (about lying, "this fucking country" etc.), and not the rest of it about reforms etc. It was all over the media, but only the 8-10 sentences that presented Gyurcsány in a negative manner. Finally, about the reforms. I believe Gyurcsány really wanted the change, and he was genuine about it all along. The problem was the coalition party (SZDSZ - Hungarian Liberal Party). Most of them hated Gyurcsány, the conflict and tension was visibly growing, and it was clear to everyone that only very few of the planned reforms could be done, because the two ruling parties (MSZP - SZDSZ) were always on the edge of falling apart. The last nail in the coffin was October 23rd, 2006. The police treated the protestors brutally, many people were severely injured in the riots. Hello, I have seen the comment before and I think it is a good summary but I would express an other viewpoint about it also. In 2002, nobody voted for Gyurcsány democratically. The candidate Péter Medgyessy was voted for office, but he was incompetent and unpopular in his party. So Medgyessy resigned in 2004 and Gyurcsány replaced him without any consent of the Hungarian people. It is also worth mentioning Gyurcsány was at the time in the MSZP, the successor of the former ruling party before 1989. In 2004, Gyurcsány's government started an agressive campaign against the dual citizenship of Hungarians abroad because of Trianon. In the same year they made a referendum about it but nobody voted on it. This wouldn't be outrageous at all if Gyurcsány didn't say that 800000 Hungarians will come in the country and take our jobs. Then, the popularity of Gyurcsány among the Hungarian diaspora hit an all-time low. Before that, in 2001 Gyurcsány said one of his infamous words about "23 millió román" by which he meant every Hungarian with dual citizenship is a Romanian and will take our jobs. If he only did this he most likely wouldn't be so unpopular but he started a very capitalist politics, despite being socialist, he tried to privatize hospitals and make the healthcare less free. His economic politics was a catastrophe. Some people are trying to save him with that the world economic crisis in 2008 made the economic crisis in Hungary also, but Gyurcsány was already totally incompetent for economy, his privatization issues were a problem already in 2004. A greatest summary of Gyurcsány I have heard is that he is "a socialist oligarch, I don't know how he made that, but he made that". Even his party members criticized him for his wealth. Gyurcsány was voted again, THEN he made this speech which was later leaked. The people were upset, but they did know already what Gyurcsány did. After all these bad years, with a prime minister unelected, some of the Hungarians weren't content with Gyurcsány even if he wanted to learn from his former mistakes and enact his reforms. The whole shitshow didn't ended though, this was just the start. In 2006 some Roma people beated to death (though they wanted to behead him, but he died of his injuries before) an innocent teacher out of a misunderstanding and threatening his underaged girls with rape. More and more things like this started to happen and the Roma minority started to be a big problem at the countryside. As always, the socialist supporters pulled a big brain move and solved it with "just don't be racist." Their ignorance of the problem led to a rise of the far right, and forming anti-Roma organizations like Magyar Gárda (which was really pretty racist), skinheads were pretty popular among young people in the 2000s. In 2006 on the 50th anniversary of the 1956 revolution some neo-nazis and football hooligans started vandalizing. Meanwhile, the opposition party Fidesz (then a centre-right party) held a commemoration. The police was incompetent and and started to push back the neo-nazis but they started to push them back where the commemoration was held. Then they attacked the whole crowd (containing the peaceful protestors and commemorators) with rubber bullets. I think the most iconic moment was the street cavalry charge against them. This was a bloody night, and Fidesz still builds his propaganda partly on this. This reminded the people protesting of the events of 1956, when university students were shot (but then there were many more deaths) for protesting. After all this, nobody in the opposition forgived what Gyurcsány did and Gyurcsány didn't feel else for Fidesz (some of his government members even said they won't apologize, this was the rightful thing to do against hooligans, which just made the situation worse, and gave it even more 1956 vibes, helping the Fidesz's rhetorics). In 2009, Gyurcsány was the most unpopular politician in the country (there was a poll about that, he had an average 10/100, making him the most unpopular politician in the country, while he still was in charge). For the reasons I wrote (high corruption and social incompetence) Gyurcsány finally resigned in 2009 and Bajnai was appointed. He wasn't popular, but he fixed the economy, even if Fidesz tries to claim it, and give him names like "Libajnai" (a merge of the words goose and Bajnai) and saying he did the same as Gyurcsány. Though Bajnai's, as the whole socialist party's social politics were still a mess. TL;DR: After all, Gyurcsány was already unpopular (you know, corruption and the misunderstanding of social problems, triggering the right wing) and didn't fix the problems mentioned here later. Also, he made statements about politics (like: "Let them protest, they will get bored") that are used by other parties now and were used by them to ignore the voters's will. This is why this whole is so unpopular and very good for making propaganda about it like Fidesz does, even if it's ridiculous after 10 years. Edit: This shortly became one of a monster of a comment.

@@csausz6796 On top of that he is still in Politics. He split the MSZP to make his own party, the DK. He is one of the big factors that ensures Fidesz remains in power and the other opposition parties are too incompetent to realize they should refuse to work with him. Hungarian politics would be far better off if he would just f off and enjoy his wealth quietly, like most decent politicians in other countries tend to do.

@klicsko142 Szervusz! A beszéd melyik részéről következtetnél arra, hogy az elmondó részeg lenne? A 'bolond' minősítés nyilván saját nézőpont kérdése, legalább nem káromkodtál.

@klicsko142 Ebben akkor nem értünk egyet. Viszonylag komplex gondolatokat ad vissza ebben a beszédben (erkölcsi minősítés nélkül mondom ezt): beszél a politikusi létről, a Magyarország előtti kihívásokról, oktatási, egészségügyi kérdésekről. Lehet, hogy ivott előtte egy pohár bort, de őszintén szólva nekem nem tűnik részegnek. Majd fogok olyan beszédet is feltölteni, ahol valóban részeg politikus mond beszédet, azt ott fel lehet ismerni egyértelműen.

@@GeneralForgeron Olyat tölts fel ahol szerinted Gyurcsány mond részegen beszédet. Nem lesz nehéz ilyet találnod. Amikor az Őszödi beszédet mondotta akkor is tajt részeg volt.
