Use this video if your automatic shifter does not work properly any more. My shifter did not latch in the park position, causing the key to get stuck. Also I could shift it to D, without depressing the brake pedal
Be sure to press the release button at the top of the shifter. Assuming you're doing that, I think the connection from the pin to another cable (releasing the shifter from the P position) is broken. I'd replace the shifter assembly
I have to replace the whole cable. I am trying to remove the bolts that go through the floorboard and into engine compartment, but I am not sure what tool I need for that. I have a socket wrench but there is not enough room to turn the bolts loose. Can you recommend how I can remove it from the floorboard?
Take the frame you see at 3:50. Now take a sturdy pair of plyers / vice grips and pinch the left and right tab together (the white parts that stick out left and right on that picture). Requires some force, but then you can release the rod towards the front of the vehicle. Let me know if it worked
@@dhderek Friend. Out of fear I did not want to force the white plastic. What I did, and is a more efficient solution, is to press, on the left and right sides, the circular plastic that covers the shift rod. Then push. Thank you very much for your help. I have repaired the triptonic (the board did not mark D, nor marked the Triptonic). The problem was due to 4 cut wires, which go inside the shift lever (they were cut by friction and rubbing)
