"If you are Marco Andretti, though, you cannot be disappointed." Bullshit, Scott! HE JUST HAD THE INDY 500 TAKEN AWAY FROM HIM WITHIN 100 YARDS OF THE CHECKERED FLAG! He hasn't done jack at the Speedway, or in his IndyCar career (except win two races) since. This would've been his crowning achievement. So, you weren't disappointed after 1992, '95, or '97? I would be VERY upset to let such a big race slip away with the checkered flag right underneath me.

Hornish was the very best when he raced. This is still my favorite race win

This might possibly had been the most exciting Indy 500 to watch on television with the exception of Rusty Wallace commentating. I'm surprised there wasn't story time during the final front about how he won and ASA race back in 1980 on the last lap or boy how I use to have a hot rod twice as fast.

I forgot he had won the 500. I always rooted for him in Nascar as he always seemed like a chill and mellow guy, but he just never seemed to get the big break needed, but this is cool to go back and see.

Was there anybody else hoping that some backmarker spun on the restart and hit the wall just hard enough to cause the race to finish under caution so that Michael who had the 1989, 1991, 1992, and 1995 wins get away from him would steal one after all those heartbreaks?

My two favorite drivers this was insane and sadly the last time I wasn't at the 500

Why was Rusty calling the Indy 500? He has no business being in Indycar

I'd like to see Sam return to indycar someday, I'm sure he could win the 500 again

Notice how quiet the fans were after Hornish won. They cheered for him, but it wasn’t like they were excited to see him win. Marco probably will never have as great of a chance as he did in ‘06 to win the 500.
