The cls63 sounds incredible and has a faster shifting 7 speed trans, but the cls55 is cheaper to maintain/mod, and power gains are tremendous. Head over to the RU-vid channel throtl and check out the cls55 we just built for them 👌👌
@@TheTAEclub its good if u have deep pockets for maintenace but i know a few people that had gearbox issues amd vanos issues the 2008 are good compared to 06 but it all depends on how previous owners took care of the car.But again it does cost $ for the maintenance.
Question, For a CLS 550 Whats the best way to get a deeper throaty AMG sound, Doing this Secondary Cat delete & Resonator delete? Or Do what the guy with the 55 AMG did on Throtl cutting off the mufflers with custom piping?
@@socaltiresstudio777 Thanks for the quick reply! That actually sounds like a good idea since I wanted to install dual exhaust tips too & a new rear diffuser. Another option I didn't mention is to get used CLS63 mufflers & install them on my 550 Then maybe do secondary cat & or Resonator delete?
@@socaltiresstudio777 Glad I reached out to you. Ok makes sense, I am looking for a deeper growl Amg type sound But at the same time not too loud to attract cops (I live in Cali) but in a small town where I hear loud exhausts left & right. That does sound like my best bang for buck though but it won't be too obnoxiously loud correct?
@@Man_eee nope I'm in San Diego and have never had a problem. You do get some slight drone at freeway speeds but not bad. If you search my RU-vid I'm fairly certain I have another black cls55 with muffler delete for comparison.
Just curious how’d you get your to sit so low when starting I’ve fallen in love with the dropped look but I’ve recently fixed my air strut leaking so I’m not used to see it so lifted 😂😭
@@socaltiresstudio777 oh okay that’s a clean look I previously thought about getting lowering links also but I couldn’t seem to locate the rear stock height sensor
Did you install a X pipe or H pipe anywhere on the resonator or secondary cats, I’ve been told to get a x pipe where the secondary cats are placed. I have the same car but want nicer tone.
Bought this same car today. I have a few questions on your exhaust set up. Did you x pipe the resonator? Or straight pipe it? And also how did you do the piping on the secondary cats? With x pipes or straight pipes?
If you happen to have pics can you please text them to me(209 426 6931) so I could show the shop that’s going to do the work so they could do the same.
M273 5.5l NA with OE stage 1 tune and resonator replaced with magnaflow x-pipe on my e550 coupe 2010. I need more sound out of it without the drone. What would you suggest? Muffler delete or secondary cats delete.
@@socaltiresstudio777 aw im kinda sad about that lol but congratulations on the sale, theres one in texas i was saving for months to buy but someone else bought it on Saturday
What is that wine you have at startup and when you rev ? I have same exact one and it sounds concerning because I never had that in my S55. I am suspecting that my CLS has been tuned by the previous owner, is yours ecu tuned ?
Randy Holder The w219 cls models never came with the ABC system. All cls's are airmatic, you're thinking of all the other 55 models sir, e55, s55, sl55, cl55 ect. they all have the abc suspension.
Talkditings dem You're correct. Airmatic not ABC. I recently was contemplating buying a 2006 cls55 amg with 30,000 miles for $20,000 asking price. But the repair costs scared me away. ABC $12-15 K. Airmatic $6 -10K. depending on labor costs and if the compressor is replaced. And that's just one area of repair costs concerns. It's really a shame, ...the cls55 amg is a flat out beautiful, performance car, I'd love to go buy one tomorrow. But a $97,000 car new that they can't sell for $20k after 11yrs. And 30,000 miles is a tell tale sign that something is wrong with "German engineering". I can't even buy an extended warranty that covers the suspension for a cls55 amg!
Randy Holder Well I own two AMG's and yes AMG's depreciate but that's not due to German engineering, its more due to actual maintenance cost and up keep. Like you said, its a $97k car when new, so the up keep, parts, labor and maintenance is of a $97k car. So most people don't want to or just can't afford the up keep on AMG's even though the prices are so tempting. One of my AMG is a 2010 cls63 and I have absolutely no issues with it since I've owned it. All I ever done is regular maintenance. You just have to research before purchasing an AMG, but AMG's are solid and almost are bulletproof. Good luck on your purchase.
