I don't want to edit any more. There is good stuff in here butt skip around or something. They were rusty AF and driver's side dragging. Also pretty sure I put on a set for a 2500 that are bigger. They fit and the van stops so I don't care! Join me in my agony!

So you just eliminate the parking break, not install the shoes?

Yeah, it's suprizingly common on older vehicles here due to rust. My only safety concern would be a hydraulic failure at highway speed, and in that case, the parking brake wouldn't do much in a panic stop anyway.

Dam, that’s why I came to this video doing the drum brakes now, it seems I can do it without removing the axle assembly but still a headache , thx for the info tho

@nasty954 They are pretty basic cable/drum setup. The adjusting nut is usually the most annoying part. Without checking the service manual, I would usually make sure the cables pull evenly before adjusting the nut. If you have a second person who can pull the handle over and over, it goes fairly quick. I also do all those adjustments before putting calipers or anything on so I can remove the rotor and get the adjustment as close as possible before having to poke at it through the back plate. With new shoes and rotors, there won't be a lip or corrosion in the way.
