2006 Spyker C8 Spyder: The Dutch Connection 

Criminally underrated car. one of the most beautiful interiors ever. and even the outside looks amazing. it's not trying to imitate or become like something else. this car knows what it is and holds its image with confidence. definitely a modern classic.

When a car is born like a classic. There are a few cars lauched over the year 2000 that i´d love to see here, under the Petrolicious particular vision, and this is one of them :)

Spykers are gorgeous and unique cars. Seriously, if I had the money to blow, I'd definitely go for one over a Ferrari, Lamborghini or Porsche. I'm utterly in love with the interior.

I god damn love how you started off with him just sitting by his car and looking at it. Still captivated in spite of however long he's had it. Says so much, that you can still be amazed by how beautiful something is. No matter how long it's possessed you.

This car is drop dead gorgeous

One of the prettiest cars ever made. Their following concepts were stunning too (look up the B6 Venator). Spyker could have been our automotive Dutch pride. But it was ran by a terrible businessman that kept running the company into the ground over and over, making promises he could never keep and simply not delivering cars that were sometimes already paid for. I believe that with proper management, Spyker could've been a recognized brand alongside Pagani and Koenigsegg. Now it's dead and all us Dutchies have left is Donkervoort and a couple kitcars.

Don't worry James, most "car guys and car girls" and true enthusiasts are well aware of the Spyker. I've always been a bit surprised they're not even more popular than they are today. However, I think the Spyker will be appreciated more over time (Like an OSCA or a Talbot Lago.) Thanks for sharing more of your collection! Cheers mate!

This guy has been featured on this channel many times and I just enjoy that he has the opportunity to be the custodian of all of his cars. He seems to love the cars, care about their history and love to show his collection to the public and share his passion with us. Great guy, I hope I meet you one day at a gas station!

It really is a very special car, the attention to detail is up there with Pagani I think. Fun fact, they're still in business to this day even though they've declared bankruptcy twice, and they owned Saab for a brief moment.

I remember seeing one in the flesh the first time in the parking lot at the Pebble Beach Concourse. I was mesmerized. I knew about the car, but had no idea as to the level of detail and overall quality. It is such a hybrid steam punk and ultra modern design an aesthetic I truly love. Great car, and of course and excellent video from Petrolicious.

Thanks for a great video about the C8 Spyker and well done to James on his encyclopedic knowledge of the car's history. Shame they didn't show the car "exploded" with the front clamshell (and F1 inspired suspension) open, the doors up and the trunk open...it's a real crowd pleaser. I've loved Spyker ever since I saw Jeremy Clarkson review one on Top Gear. I'd much rater have a Spyker than a new Ferrari, Porsche or Lambo. Thanks.

I saw my first one in 2001, at an Amsterdam car show. It really was out of this world, back in the day there weren't quite as many exotics as there are now. Two years ago, I saw my second - for sale at the Techno Classica in Essen, Germany. A white Laviolette. Spectacular. Victor Mueller however, the chairman, has a shaky rep on doing business with a long-term vision. He's the one who bought Saab shortly before they went bust, too. The modern-day Spyker has gone bust as well under his guidance; has been re-booted in 2015, but no new cars have been made since AFAIK.

Spyker still operates since the Saab debacle. The Preliator is for sale now at between €450.000,- to €500.000,- .

Spyker tried F1 for a while, probably the reason they went under. But the C8 is a very unique car. The best thing is that today April 2, is my birthday and I got watch a very unique video of a very unique car for my 67th birthday, seeing that I was supposed to die 16 months ago.

I was lucky to see a black on red Laviolette in person. This has to be my favourite interior in any car ever. It's comparable to Pagani, but somehow even bolder, and yet far more tasteful! Future classic.

I love this car, always have since I first saw it on Top Gear a decade ago. I also love the content of this channel, but it has become obvious that we're seeing a lot of the same owners over and over again. Would be nice to see some new owners and perhaps less glamorous cars but that have a compelling story.

Palm Springs is a perfect place for this car.

I think it was 2006 or 2007 when I came across a late night magazine-type tv show in the then new hi-definitiin(HDTV) format. But, it wasn't the amazing detail or color of the hdtv show that aroused my attention, it was the subject matter on screen. That subject matter being a new-but-vintage-looking sports car in that mysterious dark blue metallic w/silver accents, dramatic front nose/headlight section and no top. With no roof in the way, the gorgeous interior stood out as the camera swept sideways toward the front passenger-side fender revealing a bold dashboard that instantly reminded me of an airplane w/its turned-aluminum accents, toggle switches & indicator lights all surrounded by bright tan leather that screamed performance luxury. As I was mesmerized by the mechanical beauty in hi-definition I barely heard the narrator say, "Now, let's hear the tuned V8 and go for a test drive". V8!? Did he just say, V8? No way! I assumed this piece of art would be sporting something far more Euro-esque like a Boxer-type 4cyl, a sideways-configurated V6 with multiple turbochargers or a 12cyl something but never a V8. Now I'm in love, absolutely head over heels/at first sight love. Then the narrator said, "The price for the Dutch Spyker C8 starts out at....". So, my new, favorite exotic machine is a Spyker C8 and its Dutch!? Beautiful! This was my first introduction to the Spyker and I was completely blown away. Now, 16yrs later I'm still very much in love with the Spyker but, have yet to acquire one. Still own the first car I ever bought at age 15 -- my 1971 Chevelle Malibu 350 convertible. Sunflower Yellow + black top/interior, built 350V8 + Turbo350 trans w/15x8 Cragar S/S wheels. -- 1988 Toyota 4Runner SR5 3.0 V6, Black w/Silver stripe package & Gray interior w/the automatic pistol-grip shifter in beautiful original condition -- 2015 BMW M3 F80, Alpine White w/Carbon Fiber roof & Black/Carbon Fiber interior w/6-spd manual My humble, 3-car collection suits me to a T but, there's always room for a Spyker C8.

It’s a pity that those plans to revive the brand again together with Koenigsegg did not work out in the end. Spyker’s style was really something special.
