I have a 1999 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro and I was having an issue with transmission not recognizing in what gear it was so it wouldn't move. It was stuck in some type of limp mode and all PRND were highlighted. I was lucky my sister's boyfriend had the VAG-COM so I scanned the car and it told me that transmission range sensor was bad. I went and ordered a new one on ECS Tuning and that was it. I never had anymore problems with it again. Still driving the car 3 years later.
This happened with my 2010 VW Golf. Car started, would go into gear, hand brake off, Gear indicator flashing but it wouldn’t move. I was parked on a slight incline and what happened was the dual clutch gearbox was stuck in two gears and because of the incline, the gear box was under slight load and couldn’t release. It was caused because I started the car, moved it forward a bit then turned it off which confused the gearbox meaning it had started to engage the 2nd clutch for gear 2 and 5 simultaneously. My roadside assist guy jacked up on wheel, wiggled it and it release. All good 👍🏻 Confirmed the error code was gearbox with 2 gears selected. In future don’t start the car and move it a short distance then turn off. Also don’t park on an incline if you have a choice. Hope this helps.
Check the shift cable on the transmission right under the air cleaner to the left of the battery it’s kinda hard to get to I bet it came off and it’s not pushing the shift lever to engage your transmission
I have traction control light and EPC light ON and transmission will not shift out of 1st gear. The car has very little power and can barely go up a slight incline in the street. So far, this has only happened when the air temp is 10 degrees or colder. (2007 Jetta 2.0T FSI)
I had something very similar with my golf GTI. And the issue apparently was I had a bad core in my battery and no matter what gear I put it in it just wouldn't go anywhere. Also had some odd flickering in my dashboard too. Once I swapped out for a new battery it all started working.
We got burnt with 2006 jetta TDI. So far, $4,000 extra dollars have been spent on our money pit. Transmission only works when it feels like it. It began to function all of a sudden, went for a ride around town. Came home on a flat bed. Designed by Germans and assembled in Mexico, and passed off to Americans, who spend their life savings trying to get it to run. Some one is laughing their butts off at us dummies.
I’m having this issue after I changed my fuses I don’t get the PRND only everything else. Stuck in park. I can only change gears overriding it and it won’t shift past second someone help!
Yea man. I'm on here every night. It's nice to see a comment like yours. I just stopped posting because I got busy with work, and I didn't think my channel was cared about. So, long story short I sold my 1999 v6 mustang to my best friends sister for like 300 bucks, she fell on really hard times financially. When she was done with it, she wanted no less than $900 for it. So I had to let it go. I couldn't justify paying that much given the rust and high mileage. That was my very first car. It still hurts to this day. I got a beat up 2005 v6 4.0 now, and 2 jetta TDI diesels. I've been planning on putting out more content for awhile and your comment gave me some inspiration. Thanks for viewing my dude.
@@Xgamer121Xi had a 3.8 V6 mustang for like 17 years I think. When shifting into 2nd gear, something Bangs. Can you tell me what’s the problem with it? 🤔
Sure man. That car was all stock, except for the exhaust. Stock headers, pipes high-flow catalytic converters, and the 2 exhaust pipes were cut off right before the rear tires. The previous owner did most of that to the car.
I ended up selling it to my best friend's sister. The old 1999 Pony looked rough and had 250,000 miles on her, but she still runs perfect to this day. 😊
my Passat just did the same. not a DSG but an automatic. The temp here is near freezing. I see someone else mentioned the temp being a problem. anyone have any idea?
Had PRNDS was all flashing on mine checked the shifter cable on the transmission it was all connected looked up under the shifter everything looked fine looked under the car nothing but transmission fluid Yall pray for me🤦🏽♂️
Anybody get this fixed my 2007 Jetta’s doing the same Anybody get this fixed my 2007 Jetta’s doing the same an all of my gears flash thought so is it mechatronic
Hey guys sorry for the late response never figured it out end up letting the car go my mechanic said my transmission slipped an I needed a new one so I let my baby go 😩🥺😢
I'm having the same problem with a gli 2.0t dsg but my prnds is flashing and it won't come out of park. When I relase park safety switch it doesn't do any at all just revs up
@@jamiestewart5835 you need to go to a good transmission to have the swap it out. May just be the parts. Also every year take it in to get the transmission fluid changed. But don't take to vw retail they will over charge. Find good mechanic
@@jamiestewart5835 yes i solved the problem. the problem was the ECU was broken. CPU has crashed. I had to replace the ecu with new ones. now the car runs flawlessly
