The easier way to take that alternator in and out is to split the intake in the middle 10 bolts. Gaskets are reusable. If you ever have to take the starter out that is the only way to do it.
That’s like the fucking worst idea ever, just go under the car with a 12 mm with a 14 inch extension and take out the bottom bolt on the alternator, take all 312 mm bolts off on the top, remove the EGR mount you can pull the alternator right out the top and then unhook the wires
I believe my alternator needs to be replaced because my power steering keeps going out because my battery isn't being charged? Please respond to my to question
First, verify that your alternator needs to be replaced. It should be around 13.5 - 14.2 volts with the engine running. If you do replace the alternator and your power steering is still not working…then inspect the electric power steering or module
@@BrianBalatbat thank you for responding....I replaced the alternator today and everything is working fine again.... your video helped me out a lot thank you
My steering wheel is making a whirring noise and every time I turn my steering wheel, the ac starts dimming and my Bluetooth gets disconnected sometimes, is that for sure an alternator problem?
alternator is not charging except over 4000rpm after fitting new drive belt; tension is tight. What did I do wrong? ANSWER: despite wire brush cleaning all negative cable terminals, this was insufficient (as determined with voltmeter measuring resistance from battery -ve to various -ve earth bond points: some were over 0.6 on a 200 scale). Cleaning with sand paper allowed the alternator to work correctly and to recharge the battery. Incredibly fussy electronics!
I have the same problem, charged the battery once to 100%, car ran for a few days then battery died. Jump started it and it died within minutes, took it to charge, and they told me it didn't even charge and was swollen on the side. What could be the problem?
Thanks. Hayne's manual makes it seem so easy, but never mention access (removal of EGR, tensioner bracket). I would have figured this out, but you answered my questions beforehand and saved me some time.
Two other videos also say “12mm” is used for the bottom one of the alternator, but how come my upper bolt and the two bracket bolts holding the alternator are 13MMs!? I’ll be removing the bottom one tomorrow.
Thanks for the help! About to replace my radiator/stat/serpentine belt! I was having hard time accessing the back bolt, but I think after removing the egr , I’m gonna give it a try. Thanks again !
When I start the car and is running and all of a sudden my rpm drop and shut off the car is that due to a bad alternator not charging throughout the car???
Hi, get a voltmeter and check the voltage while it’s running. It should be around 14v with the car on idle. If it’s at 14v and the car still shuts off it could be a vaccum leak or fuel issue.
This method is a great idea and should have worked for me. But the alternator didn't cooperate in coming out. I couldn't get enough leverage to pull the alternator once the bolts were out so I removed the intake and got a pry in there to pry it loose.
