Welcome back everybody! In this video, we are going to show you how to replace the front torque strut mount for our 2007 Altima 2.5. This replacement basically involves removing two 18 mm bolts, but in order to get those bolts out, some other things will have to be moved out of the way. That includes the strut tower bracket above the back bolt, in order to pull the bolt out, that will have to be pried up out of the way. The other bolt requires you to move the power steering fluid reservoir out of the way to gain access to remove the other bolt. All in all, it can take about an hour to replace. Enjoy!

As of now how good is that engine mount aka "dog bone"? Is it worth buying? I just recently went to a dealership and they were going to charge 300 to replace it. I am probably going to do it myself, thanks to your video.

Hi Phu Le! I still have it on. It's been holding up well, no tears or cracks with the rubber. I did notice it passes a little more vibration into the car, but nothing crazy I think the best way to go would be to get the OEM mount from Nissan and just install it yourself. Hope this helps you, thanks for watching! 👍

You're welcome! Assuming your altima is a 2007, I found the OEM one, but a fair warning: it's pricey! parts.nissanusa.com/p/nissan_2007_altima-sedan-s-25l-cvt/Rod-Torque/89389106/11350-JA00A.html The link for the engine mount that I installed is here: amzn.to/3ufGQtH Good luck! 🙂

Torque specs for both of these bolts are 63 ft-lbs according to manufacturer's service manual. Stubby 18mm socket with long reach ratchet helps very much for this job. Can be done in under 25 minutes.

Any plans to make a video on replacing the lower/rear engine mount? I did it a couple years ago and the aftermarket part already needs to be replaced. It was a major pain so wondering if you could show a better way 😎

@@Trill89Atwg Lots of vibration from inside the car. I replaced it (again) and the process wasn’t as bad as the first time because i modified my approach. I managed to barely get the bolt out where the exhaust is in the way. Vibration didn’t disappear but all 3 other mounts are 3rd party garbage and need to be replaced.

Any suggestions on what to do if the horizontal bolt does not line up with the hole in the block? After lots of trying I just put the old one back on so I can get to work tomorrow, and it lined up fine for that one.
@TrickShiftGarage
@TrickShiftGarage 10 месяцев назад
I had to rock the engine around a bit in order to line up that horizontal bolt. It was a bit of a pain, so if you have a buddy that can help move and hold the engine in place so you can line it up, that would probably do the trick. Good luck and thank you so much for watching! 😊

@@TrickShiftGarageis that when you turn on the engine for a bit to move it ? just making sure
@TrickShiftGarage
@TrickShiftGarage 10 месяцев назад
You shouldn't have to turn the engine on to move it into position, if possible try a 2x4 to give alittle more leverage to line it up.

@Trick Shift Garage ok. I think I will have to try it on my own then. One last question- from all the videos I have seen, the rear engine mount is the only one that does not need me to support the engine or the transmission as long as the other 3 mounts are in place. Am I missing something here?

I managed to strip the threads on the big engine bracket. Do you happen to know the thread size pitch for that big bolt?
@TrickShiftGarage

Hey Jackson! I couldn't find the size pitch online but I did find the bolt you can order from Nissan here: www.nissanpartsdeal.com/parts/nissan-bolt~11298-ja03d.html I'll keep searching and let you know when/if I find it! 🤞

Thanks for your comment! Honestly, I felt a little more vibration after installing the new one, but it's nothing crazy or drastic. I also noticed when I accelerate, it feels like it gets moving better. I'm not saying the car got faster or anything like that, it just feels like the car accelerates smoother I guess. Thanks for watching! 👍

@@TrickShiftGarage i just replaced mine also and i also did notice more vibration and now the engine runs a little rough and makes more noise when i accelerate any ideas guys, i feel like should have left the old one alone
@TrickShiftGarage
@TrickShiftGarage Год назад
Hmm, I'd go over all the bolts and make sure they are tightened down good first. If the engine mount is all you replaced, I'd guess that your engine has been running rough, you're noticing it more because of the engine mount. You can buy the OEM Nissan mount and that should reduce the vibrations. Hope this helps!
