I figured I'd help some other people out. If you're trying to do this in your tundra remember to test your wires with a volt meter before splicing and double check the locations I have used will work with your tundra.
Why didnt you use hook up using the dome light, there is a factory hook up already , just like under the truck bed camra hook up ? Much easier to run line from inside cab hook up
Should drill hole in that cab gasket and feed wire threw and silicone. So you don’t get water in your cab. Rust it out from inside you won’t notice till it’s to late
Great Video!! It was extremely helpful in installing a backup camera on my 2011 Toyota Tundra. The only part I am stuck on and have been for the past month is connecting the backup camera wire to the trigger wire to enable the camera to turn on (3:50 in the video). Do you have any tips or any videos you would recommend to help with that?
I just installed a backup camera on my 2011 also and my head unit won’t show the feed when in reverse. My camera has the black (calls for ground), red (wired into positive of reverse light), and purple (labeled as a trigger wire). I don’t currently have the purple connected to anything, do you think this is my issue?
Hey Carter, did you have to wire the signal wire on both ends of the camera for the unit to switch to camera signal when you go in reverse? My rear signal wire is under the frame (wouldn't reach to tail light) so did you wire that up or just at the front in the head unit? And I see you mentioned a harness and a 3v signal it hooks up with, do you recall exactly what wire it was, thanks!
Cycl yes you’ll have to wire it on both ends and i don’t recall which one it was exactly, i just tested all of them with a volt meter until i found one that put out a signal in reverse
Late to the party but can you link what harness you used at the head for install? I bought the same head and a similar if not the same latch camera, would appreciate it, thanks!

the brand of the head unit is dasaita here’s the link -> www.amazon.com/dp/B07P8PBM5Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_QHTHDbB1AXHCX i had to not screw in one of the screws on the side of the screen because it sits back a bit too far
Pedro Ortega if you don’t have the backup option from the factory it’s the first sunglasses slot that flips down to show a display, it’s behind the plastic frame there. the original harness is attached behind the spare tire
Pedro Ortega from everything i’ve seen there’s no factory wire in the radio area because there wasn’t a factory upgraded radio version that had a display connected to the backup camera
