So how is this iPhone connected? Do you have an 'old' iPhone hidden somewhere in the car, or does it share all this over lightning / bluetooth which means you take the phone with you all the time?

I needed a different sized strip connector than what was supplied with the mimics.

@@Bigrob444 wow, that looks intense. I just briefly looked through that write up. My head unit looks the same. I wonder if it’s the same model as yours. Is there a way to check?
@@Bigrob444 depends, I do not know what components you used and how expensive they are. I would say from 150-250 price range, if I am wrong correct me and get the right number
@@peteryork6939 Just the hardware for the phone is ~$250, plus needing to hack apart an oem switch panel for the home button and the switch for where to send the touch screen inputs (to the factory head unit vs the iphone) is $150. At that point it's installing everything into your OEM head unit. It took me 5-6 hours to do it right and not break anything. I'd have to charge a few hundred dollars an hour to even make it worth my time. So I could EASILY see this being a $2000 upgrade.
@@peteryork6939 You can test it, it's been years but I'm pretty sure you can do it in drive. I put the steps on how to turn on the rear video display. if you can do that while driving it will work. I might have had some unlock separately for displaying rear video in the front while in motion.
