I forgot to mention the first piece of tubing next to the lead needs to be slightly longer than the hook length to prevent tangles. I originally came up with this method for a lake where lead core was banned and the fish were spooking all the time in shallow water as they bumped into the line. The segmented tubing sorted this problem. I sometimes add a little tungsten putty over the tubing too if I really want to anchor things down.
Hi there, The bits of tubing are free running on the line like small flying back leads. Casting style doesnt alter, whatever cast is required I make it as I would without the free running heavy weight tubing. Simply by using short sections of tubing the separate pieces follow the bottom contours similar to a chain rather than one long piece of tube. Best fishes Shaun Harrison
Hi Shaun, I'm intrigued by your method of using the separated pieces of tubing to hug the bottom.. Are they held to the mainline with rig glue? Also, which casting method are you using with this technique? Can you explain this method mate?
