PHILLIP, writing bet late great thought process and the 8 volt reference voltage was confusing indeed i watched other guys with same problem they just went and changed that motor with out any diagnoses the way u did that is the reason am hocked to ur channel and videos because in this channel there is alot information and procedures that u do is great to learn so thank you and much appreciate the time and effort it took to do all this brother. cheeeeeers
@@PhillipBailey it was exactly this video that is wrong with my truck. I replace front 4wheel actuator, transfer case control module and it still did this same thing in the video. And so I thinking this is it with my truck since the other 2 repairs didn't work.
Couple comments: Don't know Dorman's warranty on this part, but like to stick with OEM on more critical parts, especially electrical, and especially any that are difficult to access (don't want to have to do that labor twice!) Second thing is I try to keep all testing using the component's associated designed ground. This can be a pain with access problems--and can be skipped by going to another known good ground. But if you're REALLY having a problem pinning the electrical complaint down, you got to use the circuit's designed ground to ensure that that ground is OK. Easy to focus on voltages or amperages on positive wires--but the grounds, as we know--just as important to complete that circular path for designed current to flow.
Thanks for the comments. Yes grounds are extremely important and often overlooked. Dorman often offers a lifetime warranty if installed by a registered repair shop. I'm ok with this part but I do agree with you on a lot of electrical sensors I will always recommend oe if available especially when it's a pita to access.
@@PhillipBailey Thats what I was hoping lol. The only trouble I had with a lever was one that rarely got used and it seized up. Seems very often chasing problems with the electronic. Not nearly as reliable - makes you wonder.
hi sir I have same codes on 2012 5.3 Silverado and from your diagnosis I wonder if you could back probe circuits with a signal generator to try and force it which would maybe show the problem in encoder motor side
I doubt that would work since the TCCM is looking for multiple comparable signals. Additionally if you back probe a shorted signal it will short out the signal generator. If it was a simple analog signal like a position or pressure sensor that would work. Good luck
Sounds like you have multiple problems. What code/s are in the PCM for the speedo and transmission shifting. This C0396 should not affect the transmission or speedo.
I had this wire harness(other side that plugs in) completely severed. Any chance you know which pin goes to what system? No matter where i look, i can't find a schematic anywhere.
