Stunning bike, I have the exact same model and colour, I have just stripped it down to the frame this week as I am giving it a Cherry candy metalflake frame along with a spoked rear wheel & white walls Also with a million other things including lots of brass & chrome.
Cool bike. I bought a 07 XL1200C new as well. I’ve done a two brothers two into one exhaust and tune. Also a 12 inch mini apes with forward controls. I still have it to this day with 16,000 miles. In 2017 I purchased a Road Glide but don’t see myself getting rid of my sporty.

Just stumbled across this video..Very cool !! Didnt realize how many videos there are of XL1200 L .. We recently traded a 2020 Iron 883 in on the wifes new 2021 Streetbob.. She loves it, but started to miss her Sporty. We just picked jer up a 2009 XL 1200 L and Im going through it a bit, so it fits her just right. It came with a decent package and only 14k on the clock.. Putting a low solo seat on it and might put 6inch mini apes for her. It came wired and set with 10inch apes. It has exhaust that sounds very similar. No aircleaner mod or tuner, YET lol Im hitting your sub. I know this video is a bit older, but come have a look at what I do on my channel. Best to you !

Yeah mate everything was from Harley Davidson spare parts mate! Have a look in the big parts book and your local dealership will be able to get it in for you
Was the biker lowered at all? Could be just my eyes playin tricks on me, but my 07 Sporty Custom doesn't look like it sits that low in the rear. Clean bike. Can't believe you got rid of it! To each his own though. Hope you're enjoyin what you have now.
I know this video is from 9 years ago but did you have to change the clutch cable or the break line ? I hope you see this im about to do the same just wanted to make sure
GDAY MATE! Im pretty sure the clutch n brake lines were not long enough, i had to buy them and an elec extension plug for the indicators etc, it all was direct from HD and just clipped on mate, GOOD LUCK!
Love it I've got a 2008 slowly customising it But it's a joy to ride What exhaust is in yours? I've got twin screaming eagle pipes but not as loud as yours
not sure if you will see this but i love the 72 bars and riser on the 1200. im looking to do the same on my 07 as well. what speedo setup did you go with? is it just a direct swap with the factory riser and speedo? any links? thanks
I see everything mate HaHa! Yes mate its just all factory stuff from the big HD book, part numbers are online or head into your local dealer and they will hook you up.
JAZart666 awesome, I’ll probably head to the Harley shop and see what that costs, how much farther is the reach? I’m about 5ft 8in. I’d prefer not to be straight armed. Currently I have apes. I’d say around 12 in, but they are mounted on the big stock riser.

That is a nice Custom. I have a 2010 Custom that I have been doing a bunch of work to. Do you mind me asking what kind of speedometer kit you have there? I am struggling to find one. I want mine to face forward, and not backwards as it does stock.
Im new to the whole motorcycle world and man do i sound so stupid when people tell me whats in my bike and etc etc and i end up looking stupid i even had people tell me i have no buisness riding motorcycles leave it to the real bikers but i am doing my best to learn
Hi mate, everything is from the big HD book from the HD dealer, its all the 72 items too, yes new cables and a wire extension kit was needed to do the change over :)

HaHa yeah this was going back a few years mate! Its just a couple of steel fat bar tabs made up mate, you can buy the tank lift kits but there easy to make to get then exact height you want tho.
I know its been years since you've made this video and if i'm lucky you will remember/reply lol. But, what size wires/cables did you install with this setup?
HaHa! I reply to ALL mate! The original wires need to be extended, there are HD extensions that just plug into the existing wires, the cables are new stock factory ones from Harley Davidson mate (same as 72), The big book and any HD parts dealer will be able to hook you up, its exactly the same as the 72 sportster :)
Quick question for you! I want to put apes on mine. I have an 07 1200 and the front tire is raked out pretty far. I want it to be just under shoulder height. How tall are you? Because those seemed a little shorter than what I am looking for. Maybe i should stick with 14"?
I have the exact same bike, same color and all just mines an 2005. I wanna do the same exact setup with the bars and speedo you did on yours. I have the mini apes already. Where did you find the speedo? I need to get rid of my ugly pull back riser
hey man thats a really sick bike you have there, u made change my mind to swap for a peanut tank, i have 05 model and i cant stand the stock raiser and mount bracket, i been reading the comments and i was wondering two thing, fisrt where can i get the number parts for the 72 speedo i mean in which parts book where can i download it to check it out and the tank lift, it was an inch? or two? oh and one more thing the cables from the controls its possible to hide them in the apes or its just a cant? thank you mate and greetings from Mexico
Hey mate cheers! I had this bike 7 years ago and it still draws big attention! The parts are all in the big bible parts book, the thick one, these can be picked up from any HD dealer, or you can search online. I handmade a custom 2; lift too, that seems to visually look the best IMO. Yes you could hide the wire internally, my street bob has them internally wired and look super clean! there just the Harley Davidson branded tyres from factory, the ones fitted to there 72 models, the reports I read there were the better performers by far!
How’s it going mate..I know everyone has asked what top clamp did you go with to eliminate the Customs speedo and you said the 72. What year of 72 top clamp did you go with because your bike was an 2007 and the 72 didn’t come out until 2012?
GDAY MATE! the 72 style top clamp is still un changed and will work with the earlier sportys like my 2007, Its just a standard HD part and any good dealer will be able to hook you up! God i do miss that bike but i love my new street bob much better haha> Check out my newer vids mate. ENJOY :)

Cant remember exactly, but the easiest thing todo is head to ya local HD store and get a quote, its all just the stock parts from the 72 sportster! hope that helps!
my 2012 has that same start up pause before it fires is that OK has I haven't found any that do that......Is that normal....mine was purchased with tons of custom work and less than 3k miles last week just that pause just scares the crap out of me
I just got my 2017 custom 1200, need some loud exhausts like this one, please tell me the name of these exhausts, sounds great. Stock exhaust really sucks I hate em
