2007 Mazda 3 Blower Motor Location And Replacement

A broken or non functioning blower motor can cause a lack of flow of air out your vents, if your AC isn't blowing it could be because the blower motor is defective.
Please diagnose the problem before replacing as this isn't a particularly fun task.
Note the part from 4 seasons below is the only aftermarket manufacturer I was able to find, this is the same part O'Riliey's sells just for half the price so far as I can tell. I didn't have time to wait on amazon so I purchased from a local vendor.

A tip to how to disconnect the fan electrical contact. The way I did it was by using a small angled torx allen key. I managed to insert the short end of it into the notch where the lock mechanism of the contact is located. Then I pushed it while at the same time pulling the contact. It worked but was not supereasy with only one hand. I pushed the Allen key with my middle finger while pulling the contact with my index and thumb. A better strategy may be to tape something short and pointed to your middle finger instead of using the allen key to push the contact lock. That will make it easier to push the contact lock while pulling the contact with index and thumb.

I just fired my car up this morning and the blower, when set to 3 or 4, the whole dash shakes! Looks like I have a fun job ahead of me. The cabin air filter was a headache on its own haha

Pro tip for re-installing the black peice with 3 screws: The top screw hole over the grate is THREADED! So instead of dropping the screw into the grate a thousand times trying to re install it, you'll notice if you look at it, IT IS THE ONLY ONE THAT PRE-THREADS INTO THE HOLE ON THE BLACK SHROUD. If you do that before inserting under the dash, it is a million times easier to do.

That blows... Air flow seems weak no matter what I've done in the past (replaced cabin filters, thoroughly cleaning condenser/compressor coils, vacuuming all air ports/etc...) But figured I might try lubricating/replacing blower motor, looks like a bitch like most a/c stuff in these cars but your video helps to know what to expect. Weak air flow is apparently a common complaint on these cars I've found.

It's probably a tired blower motor. If your motor is worn out and drawing extra current, you may want to replace the motor and also the Blower motor resistor. Often, worn motors can burn the resistor out.

The first box with the three screws was presented as a simple task. But yet, all the screws are removed blindly and the screw you called number one is deep and seemingly impossible to remove. And of course it seems more impossible to put them back if I happen to get them out.

I've been fixing cars professionally for 8 years, and this one is by far the most difficult blower motor I've ever had to do. I apologize if I made it seem easy as it was definitely not.

@@RogueWrenching Hey man, you responded quick. Thanks. I understand. I thought that must be the case that you have the experience and the tools. For me, there were lots of loud verbal expletives. It was RIDICULOUS. I just finished. And all I needed to do was access the blower housing to clear out a mouse nest. Of course, I only got 2 of the 3 screws back in. Ha. Thanks!

@all4fitz I did it in my garage and while I've got most of the tools at home it was still a GIANT pain. I'd be lying if I said my garage wasn't filled with some very colorful language. That's why I didn't show how I got to everything. I was to busy yelling at the stupid design.

Disconnecting the electrical is next to impossible, I've been at it for hours and I just can't get a good enough grip to remove it. I hate the way this car is put together.

Yea, it's a royal pain, I took the brake pedal assembly out, so I had a bit more room, but this car is stupid.

Thanks. How to get the 5th bolt off the brake assembly???? That is all that it’s stoping me right now. Im about to put it all back together. Such a ridiculous place for the fan! Mine is a 5 speed.

I used a long extension and a wobble socket, but I broke it loose with a small 1/4" drive ratchet and a shallow socket. It's a pain and honestly leaving it out probably wouldn't hurt anything.

@@RogueWrenching yet another question. The electrical connector and the air tube. How is the elec connector released. Also did you just pry off the vent hose air tube? It looks like it’s hooked to something.

@Neal Widdifield vent tube pulls off. it's just a barb fitting. Electrical connector was an absolute pain. Once the lock ring is released, turn the motor so you can see the connector.

Yes, you need to buy Mazda 2014 or newer to avoid the Ford idiocy. My son's is a 2008 GT hatch, and I somehow missed that Ford was involved in Mazda for all that time! I told him to just keep driving it until the motor dies after watching this. Currently it works fine, just doesn't blow very hard, but it's been that way for several years now. We'll just order a new one off RockAuto so we have it on hand if/when it does, likely in the dead of our -45C Sask. winter...

ford or mazda, but the designers of this car were evil. The stupidest of all is the fuel filter, why couldnot they put the hole right above it like every other car, i had to take the fuel tank off just to replace my fuel filter, and now this shit. It means another weekend gone to dust and under dash
