The driving schools in Europe always teach new drivers in manual transmissions. Some countries don't even allow doing the test with auto-transmission unless you have any physical problems. Those who do drive up in Europe with automatic transmission (which I assure you is below 1%) are only allowed to drive automatics and that's considered a semi-license since most cars are manual.

@maltijien No we don't have Volvo VN in europe. Because there are limitations in the length of the truck we have Volvo FH trucks. But Your Volvo VN uses european Engines gearbox dashboard and other parts etc. I really love the automatic Ishift gearbox with the volvo engine break in my 400hp Volvo FH truck from 2008!

folks, taking out the oil stick with a running engine? I was taught to see the oil level after the engine was off for a few minutes allowing the oil to sink for accurate level measurement

It's NOT an AUTOMATIC transmission. It's an AUTOMATED transmission. To be a bit more specific, it's a computer controlled, air operated, standard transmission.

@dimalevoniuk This American doesn't. I can't see why folks fall for that one so much. The oldest trick at service stations was the gas attendant asking to check the oil of a hot engine and then adding a quart of oil for no good reason.

You can't buy theese in sweden. They're too big.. Here max lenght is from bumper to bumper.. 25.5m max.. Automatics works like a charm .. Even had a 37tonne fighrer jet behind one. Volvo makes proper trucks. . Them bulldogs, shakers and kenworths are stuck in the 1900s. Leaf springs and drums, lol :D Interior from a stage coach :D

Strange, according to statistics 75% of all NEW cars 2011 in western Europe were manual. add to it that not everyone buys brand new cars too. I don't think the percentage would have dropped to auto's favor. Especially not in Norway were automatic isn't really effective. (snow, uphills,downhills,mountains)

Are you kidding me? Manual transmission in general is standard here in Europe. Out of 10 cars, maybe 1 is an automatic (usually older folks and in western Europe) The US is known for the popularity of Automatic transmissions, and you know it. And I know that american truckers to some extent use Manual transmissions, but I was speaking about the general public and you can't deny that 99% of the US population is driving auto-transmission. Its the opposite in Europe/rest of the world.

Man nothing, and i mean NOTHING rides better than a volvo. Even the old 770 Volvo rides better than anything on the road today. As long as Volvo increase its dealers, hours, more accesible to parts, and lower the cost to work on them. I will buy 1 in a heart beat just to ride around in, forget hauling freight,lol. The forum says Used Volvo's will break your pockets and drive you into bankruptcy. Just have alot of money or get 1 thoroughly inspected before u leave any dealer.

Here competition if feirce.. You gotta have trucks that uses less diesel and you have to have a ECO engine with the filters and the catalytic converter etc.. Riding on the floor in a old ass rig with a 6 feet long stick doesn't make you a trucker.. Get your haul to the destination in one peice and makeing yoursef and the company money that's what's up. You need a modern truck to get drivers to drive for you. Many starts bitching if the rig's more than a few years old.

Over a million miles in 4 years, when have the truck had time for service, aaa none except for sales service, If the engine and trans is replaced it maybe worth buying but if noy it has seen it's day, sorry but I own a Volvo and this is too much mileage

Барыга. Говорит, что мотор чистый без подтёков масла. Отмыли, но масло аж запеклось на поддоне. Раму покрасили вместе с седлом, в салоне хим чистка. Впаривает вольву с её же мотором (он самый непопулярный в сша) и автоматом. Лоха ищет. Холодильник уже украли(((

DO NOT TOUCH 07-09 Volvo.......emissions system never worked and you`ll strugle to give it away.I own a 2011 and don`t have to many problems but one of these broke a friend of mine.....YOU`VE BEEN WARNED !!!!!
