Cherry's are quite expensive with rising inflation costs. Thankfully, the 2007 Xiaguan Xiao Fa Tuo Ripe Pu'erh is virtually an indistinguishable stand-in for a quite expensive fruit. If I close my eyes while drinking this tea, I can even feel the cherry pit!
I would definitely say I get a cherry note from Xiao Fa. But then again I think the one I had was the FT version. I agree I tend to go more for the Dayi ripes than Xiaguan. I would say Xiao Fa is one of their recipes which I like the most. Actually, I think I drink more Haiwan than Dayi, but their ripes are probably closer to a Dayi or general Menghai profile than a Xiaguan. I have also had some Nan Jian Tulin ripes which I think do some nice things with more of a northern ripe profile.
