Thank you so much. Your video helped me a lot. I'm mechanically inclined (53 year's experience) but like to see and hear people tell me their process. I ordered the rear light strip years ago when I thought (wrongly) the left and right sides of the light strip had burned out bulbs on my daughter's 2008 tC. She is still driving the car with almost 159k miles, although she can easily afford a new one (she earns more than I). She probably thinks it will last forever since I maintain the car whenever she comes home a few times per year from 1.5 hours away. We have another vehicle (2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor) with 351k miles and no major work since I maintained from new. I'm happy all the tC''s rear lights will be brighter. She has been hit from behind twice in the last 13.5 years. Things to look out for on this job are the routing of the light strip's connection wire so you don't pinch it when attaching the metal housing (shroud) and to be careful when removing the Scion emblem trim so the bolts do not scratch the paint (I think that was mentioned). Also, do not tighten the four nuts holding the trim and the four nuts on the light strip too tight or you might crack the plastic. All went well for me. It took 45 minutes though.

This helped refresh my memory from installing my Oznium LED aftermarket full-width light bar on my 2008 tC. I needed to retighten the nuts that hold the hatch panel on. After 6 years the nuts started to wiggle loose causing the panel to rattle. The design is such that you could damage the panel while opening the hatch if the nuts loosen up too much.

Thanks for the tutorial! It really helped me out when I had to install my third brake light. I too initially thought the entire thing lights up, but I looked inside and its just like 6 LEDs in the middle.

Thanks for the video - it worked for my 2005 tC. A couple of tips: (1) I had to buy a deep 10mm socket for 4 of the nuts, which was cheap - $2 at Home Depot (2) I used a green scour pad to scrape off a lot of the remaining adhesive/foam. I'm not sure if that scratches the paint, but it didn't really scratch it, and it's in a hidden spot anyway. (3) I wonder if you can replace the trunk handle piece first before installing the LED brake light. If you put in the LED brake like first, there's an adhesive, so you have to center it correctly the first time. I got lucky and it was mostly in the correct spot, but I'm thinking it might be better to put in the trunk handle first - although I"m not sure if that's possible.

AS A CURRENT TC OWNER IT WOULD BE DOPE TO HAVE THE WHOLE LED ASSEMBLY LIGHT UP. GREAT VIDEO MAN! INSTALLED MY LIGHT AS WELL BUT AFTERMARKET BY "DORMAN" PRODUCTS.. PART HAS BEEN WORKING GOOD FOR 2-3 MONTHS NOW . ONLY PROBLEM WAS THE "DIRECT FIT". THAT DEALER ONE LOOKS LIKE IT FIT IN SMOOTHLY! 👍

Is there any fuse that might needs to be replaced to have the light working again?

Hey so, the 3rd brake light won’t come on, and there’s no electrical current on the fuse that’s supposed to be for the brake light, but the other brake lights work perfectly, the fuse is fine, just doesn’t seem to have any electrical current. Any idea on how to fix the 3rd brake light?

Toyota's quality is way down. I have never had to replace a third brake light bulb on any car....my brothers 2010 scion tc needs replacement already.
