Just installed in my 2013 WRX STI, fits perfect super easy to install and once everything is updated the Zlink/ Iphone Car play works awesome. I didn't need the dongle recommended for apple car play.
Jose Rivadeneyra I have a kenwood stereo, and I had to get a 100 dollar Maestro RR kit, has adapters and a box you plug into your computer and configure but works flawlessly
The description of the unit you have linked says its for a Forester. Just want to double check, is that also the correct one for the 08 STI? Edit: Bought it thanks to this video and just installed it today. Pretty easy, but one thing to note that was not mentioned... you'll have to remove the small yellowish retention clips from the stock trim and transfer those over to the trim of the Idoing unit. Without them, the unit was not secure in the dash. Hope that helps others.
@@jackfrost2943 Overall I'm satisfied with it, but there are a couple of things I'm still working out. I'm using the radio adapter he linked in the description, but the radio reception is still bad. I'm also told the Bluetooth sound quality is bad for people I call. I've ordered a separate mic from amazon and I'm still waiting for it to come in. Hopefully it's just the mic that came with the unit that's trash.
Hey.. sup. I noticed you linked all these materials you used in the video, but you didnt link the cooking video you were watching on the head unit. Im very much interested. Please update the description. Thank you
I installed the same unit and bought the antenna adapter and still getting very poor radio reception. Where does The blue wire that is zip tied to the antenna wire go now? Seams to be the issue but not sure how to fix it
would you happen to know why my radio reception is very bad on my 08 sti? it came with an aftermarket radio, bad reception back then, upgraded to the android head unit, radio still sucks, read somewhere that subarus use a 12v for better radio reception, but not sure which wire that is. i plug in the regular anthenna connector then switch to the android anthenna connector, but same problem
@@andriusvalanciunas3047 I used the stock harness to connect the android unit. The stock harness has all the wiring for steering wheel control. This model is car specific so if you do not drive a 08-14 wrx/sti, you would have to make some modification
I have a 2011 impreza outback sport. It came with a crappy tomtom eclipse. RIP. Would something like this work? The design of your dash and ac vents looks just like mine at face value.
Hi John, I have a 2009 Subaru Forester. Is it possible to install a newer Subaru Forester radio into it. Like 2016 or newer with backup camera and motion sensors?
I just picked up a 12 subaru wrx! So do i have to just purchase the radio? Or do i have to purchase all of the links u listed? I checked the site and it looked like it could come with it. Im not exactly sure. Please let me kno
A few issues I have had: -Carplay is hit or miss, I've tried a number of cables, OEM apple, aftermarket, different phones, sometimes it just doesn't want to connect. -When using car play, my friends say the audio quality on their end is awful. -Normal radio signal strength is weak compared to the OEM, I recently purchased a radio amplifier (waiting on delivery) to see if that solves the problem. -GPS app is garbage, it KIND OF worked in the beginning, but doesn't work at all. I think the head unit looks great in the car, I have just been disappointed with the functionality.
I have a Subaru Tribeca manufactured 12 months 2009, I am interested in purchasing a unit like this ( are they available and where and what is the name of the unit) cheers Glyndon
Do the steering wheel buttons work with this setup/can you get them to work? Just picked up a '14 WRX and I just noticed the Radio/AUX buttons just stuck 😅
Hello @John Nguyen im trying to understand in aliexpress but its all arabian lol...i want to order this unit but i have a forester 2010 and basic model "came without the gps and screen radio"so yes i want to know what kind of cables i need and if the frame will fit...how can i check that?by the way great video!
Hey man, how is this head unit living up to the daily use? Would you still recommend? I have an 09 forester so I'm considering buying it. Thanks ahead.
It does some kinda of handshaking that allows it to work. You can get units that have it built-in or in dongle form. IT IS a hardware piece that's needed
They don’t sell the metra-kit you have in the video?.....I have a 2013 Impreza and they kit the head unit sits in is exactly what I need but it’s not on the site....
cant you just re-use the USB cables that are already installed on the car if you have USB inputs? 2014 wrx... just wondering if thats possible so I dont have loose wires all over the place.
I have a 2012 wrx Impreza but the idoing guys are saying that it’s not compatible with my oem factory reverse camera that I have on my factory kenwood unit. Is there anyway or any specific product like the one in the video that u can Reccomended me buying because I really want my reverse camera to come up on this head unit.
Bfisherc no i sold the car, but I did get an Android head unit for my new car and it comes with adapters to add audio lines for amps and subs. My head unit comes prebuilt with an amp and it makes oe speakers sound much better.
Hey john, so I got this headunit thx to u, I’m having trouble setting up the radio tho, I can’t seem to find the stations. Can u help me out? I live in chicago
hey i just came across this video, I'm trying to find a similar radio for my 2014 subaru impreza limited! I was having a hard time finding one, I didn't know if maybe you could send me a link for an "idoing" one that would fit!
@@Noisy.Garrett not tryna beat a dead horse but you should make a video going through your favorite features. Id watch that for sure. I really want to get it for my forester
my buttons on the side are not lighting up. how can i get them to light up or turn on? i checked all the settings and can’t find anything besides changing the color :(
Way late to the party, but yeah, I'd assume that the wi-fi is for hot spot situation, what I'm curious about is how spotty coverage is. I would think that the wi-fi would be over an 4g late network.
