I love my 2007 Aspen, that I bought in 2013! She's had a couple of minor issues over the years, but I would rather repair them than let her go. As far as I know, no other vehicle has tilt down side mirrors when reversing; I LOVE that feature! I do wish she had an aux in, but I manage just fine with aftermarket add-ins. I have had very minimal issues with her over the years. She's a real trooper, and has so many unique features. Aspen owners are loyal, she's frickin awesome!
I just bought a 2008 Aspen. Same color. Now I'm watching videos on everything I can learn about them, cause I have never owned anything past the 80's. I'm like a little kid, just pushing buttons to see what it will do. 😂
Hahah congrats man! They are really great vehicles. My mother bought it new in 08 and I've been driving it since 2018. 151k on the odometer. I've had to replace many suspension parts, wheel bearings, exhaust manifold, couple alternators, air vents stopped opening and closing. Body rusting is a big issue on all of them but frames are solid along with engine and transmission
I bought my 2007 Aspen in 2011 and I still have it to this day 12-2-21. It's very reliable. I have about just over 165000 miles on it. Great in snow. I barely had to activate the 4WD on it. Outside of basic maintenance on it it's easy to care for. I do have some electrical issues but nothing to scare me from driving it.
I’ve had mine for 7 years..very few issues. Shocks, back up sensor, control arm and driver side windows control. Very reliable and a sleeper in my opinion. Everyone that I have ever met had nothing but good things to say.
Ok. 91000 near the end of the video. Mine is a 2008 but has minor differences. 212000km and no major problems. I love it and will never likely look for another vehicle unless the hemi blows up or something major which isnt very likely. It meets all my needs thoroughly and it has the Best Control System for the Cruise Control ever designed. Too bad newer vehicles no longer offer it. I recently put it into 4WDL to pull a huge storage bin delivery truck out after it sunk about 6 inches into the mud on my soft lawn. Sure surprised the truck driver. LOL. Mopar or no car for me.
I miss when cars had column shifters. That itself makes this car cool! The Aspen looked cool. Surprised they dropped this but kept the Chrysler 300 and not vice versa.
I have the 2005 Durango limited and the Aspen. My Aspen has more in the inside. More fascinating than my Durango. My son bought me the Aspen gir my birthday 2021 September 17. I have everything thing and added a bluetooth to it as well this baby can fly Hemi. I got all types of look when I drive my sweetpea. I love my trucks. Lol
Love to hear that Deanna, sounds like a you have a great son and truck! I agree I love the wooden steering wheel however the leater part is just terrible I wish the leather was better quality. Yep I still get compliments to this day. Thanks for watching
It's a pretty cool SUV, honestly - especially with the 5.7L Hemi V8 in Limited trim. Very nice looking inside and out, and quite rare too (at least in California). It's a 1,000 times more handsome than its ugly duckling Durango sibling. Plasticky inside? Yes, but not much worse than other contemporary USDM SUVs. Badge-engineered? Sure, but so were the Escalade, Navigator, LX470, QX56 etc... I've always felt the Aspen was unfairly ridiculed by auto critics back in the 3 short years it was offered by Chrysler, just because of timing. It did come late to the party (last large SUV to come out pre-2008 financial crisis, and consumer tastes were starting to steer away from SUV's at the time because of gas prices, etc.) and it wasn't advertised much by Chrysler if I remember well. Lots of long-term owners on car forums seem to love them. And it was a real towing beast for the time!
Thanks!! I couldn't of said it better I think a lot of the early hate just came from the hate towards the early 2gen durango. Maybe one of the worst looking full size suvs ever made IMO. By the time they improved the styling and added refinements along with the introducing the aspen in 06 Lincoln and cadillac owned that market and it was too little to late. The increase in gas prices in 08 didn't help either just like its not helping the grand wagoneer now lol Chrysler has great timing!
Is that a Cadillac 😂 more like is that a 2007-2009 Dodge Durango with some extra crome and wood grain , I have a 2007 Dodge Durango limated with a after market exhaust and a lift with black rims , they are all good cars and I love mine
found it on this site www.partstrain.com/store/details/Replacement/Bumper_Trim/REPN763501.html?source=gglpla&gclid=CjwKCAiAqOriBRAfEiwAEb9oXd6it9ZKKEXtdCY7cLNNTSrhRpZVLZEHRJGGTwFZKZN_Oth9Z6ZfMxoCirUQAvD_BwE Or look on ebay
@@Big_CJ34 Nice yea it's a good vehicle but I'm no mechanic you might wanna have someone look at it. Hopfully it's just a blown fuse or something. Thank you for watching!
Ok because I bought a 2016 Dodge journey 2 weeks after purchase the transmission blew the dealership replaced it no charge but I have had nothing but issues I googled it all Jeep's Chrysler Minivan's Dodge Durango and Dodge journeys there's a forum on the issues the engines are Chrysler's engines but the Transmissions are from FIAT. Which stands for Fix It Again Tony.... Chrysler FIAT marriage is made in Haydees....
@@ralphabreu5022 same thing happened to our 2016 jeep Cherokee. I'm not a fan of the new transmissions they're very jerky but the aspen has the 5 speed 545RFE transmission
I worked at the Newark Chrysler Plant in Delaware that made the Durangos,,I worked there for 20 years and we started making the Durango in 1998,,I currently bought a 2001 Dodge Durango R/T last month with 85,000 miles from original owner..Very nice and quick.
This SUV is simply amazing and after just watching “marspeed “ video on this car and seeing how he just shot it down saying how bad it was , but after seeing this I realize it is reliable and people do love it. I’m so glad you posted this! You should take a look at that boys video it was very annoying.
Yes I know exactly who you are talking about I've watched many of his videos and many others that do nothing but bash every chrysler vehicle from the 2000s. I will admit interier quality was from chrysler was pretty cheap but it wasn't much worse than a Ford or Chevy. Reliability has been great tho its had over 110k now and still going strong. The aspens problem was just that it came out 5yrs too late and was too similar to the durango but overall its a great vehicle with a lot of versatility
V-MAFIA a lot of people say it’s too much like the Durango and I just don’t see it / think that’s a issue because the Lincoln Navigator has been a ford copy for decades and it sold. People just don’t know good cars even if it fucks then in the ass!
Too bad the 2008 Chrysler Town and Country minivans never had gotten that collum shifter design. They all now have that cheesy counsol shifter stuck on the dashboard. It’s really annoying and I wish minivans still used the traditional collum shifter design. I even wish sedans and SUVS would get the collum shifter design back!
I agree there's just somthing nice about shifting it up into park that makes you feel like you're about to go out and get shit done. None of this chinsy little dials you delicitly rotate with the tips of you fingers smh if it ain't broke don't fix it!
Man almost bought one new back in the day. But we got real nervous about financing that much money. It was sweetheart of a car tho. I would like to find one like this. A good solid used one. With a hemi
Understandable, Chrysler came out with this at the worst possible time when gas prices were over $5 a gallon. We bought it during the few years Chrysler offered the lifetime powertrain warranty so we're gonna keep it going as long as the body lasts! 114k on it now, video update coming soon
That power train warranty is amazing. There is a kid who has RU-vid channel and he reviews cars. His mom drives a Jeep Commander that has that some warranty it’s a 4.7 v8 tho. It’s currently having its 3 rd engine put In. Truck has about same miles as yours. The 4.7 just not as good as hemi
Ha! A new Chrysler logo! Exactly ! I love the logo gotta keep it fresh and clean. I make sure to clean the one on my steering wheel as well. I hate the ass holes with these 2015-17 chrysler 200’s. Because some of them take the logo off and black it out. I only see that on 200’s.
I recently picked up a 2009 with 113,000 miles on it for $5,000. I think I stole it. Very nice condition. I don't don't have the 4WD hi-low selector switch with the 4.7 motor. It's 4WD High range all the time.
@@VMAFIA My book doesn't mention AWD. It says 4WD all the time in high range. My 2004 was 4WD all the time too but I was able to switch it from high 4WD to low 4WD. But I do love it.
@@ClassicFIHD Right 4WD without the locking transfer case so the tires on the axle can spin at different rates so you don't get the jerking around corners
@@VMAFIA Somehow they have some slip in them. They are not totally locked When I am moving slowly and turn on grass or loose gravel all 4 tires tear up the ground as if the tires were locked.
I’ve had my 07 5.7 for a few years n I LOVE IT!!! Paid 6500 with 130xxx... Anyways, have you had any issues with the park assist? Aside from an alternator and tie rods repairs, that’s the only issue we have. Not a scratch or non working thing in that truck aside that. I just put an aftermarket deck in and will be getting my backup cam installed soon so I haven’t pushed the issue seeing as it didn’t work when we bought it. Exactly how does it assist?? Beeps maybe?? Anyways we can’t miss what we never had, just curious tho.
No, the 4.7 didn't have that feature, but just RU-vid it I'm sure someone else has and a lot cheaper than going to the dealership since it's a classic.
I have 2009 and a couple days ago the anti theft system kicked in and just shut the entire vehicle down completely no power whatsoever. Battery is good, but there is a red dot light thats stays on it doesnt flash just stays lit. U can turn the key and nothing no lights at all..ive tried the key lock to bypass the immobilizer but that doesnt work. Can someone please help. Thank you
You have probably fixed it by now but just in case. The relay for security is probably in the (TIPM) black box along the fender in the engine compartment. If you can get a diagram locating the relay for the security. Pull the relay for a minute or two. Sometimes this will actually reset it and you can have ignition restored.
@@brentlowe5196 thank you.. it was the cables to the battery, i hand tightened the screws and they were lose.. definitely need to make sure u tighten screws..
not a chrysler fan, but i appreciate the Aspen, it actually looked very cool back in the day, If it was released back in 2003-2004, it would have been a stronger competitor to the Navigator, Escalade, Yukon Denali, Lexus GX, LX, Infiniti QX56 and Mercedes GL. Chrysler needed a luxury full size suv because in the early 2000s, everybody wanted a big suv
Installed an amp in the rear hidden latch compartment next to the rear lift gate, for an angled subwoofer that sat behind the 3rd seat(above the amp compartment). Installed a 320amp alternator(stock is 160amp) to power amp, electronics and additional horns>:). Did the big3 upgrade for the extra power from the new alternator. Other than that added a 4port usb power adapter in the top of the lid of the backseat console to power kids phones/electronics. I've owned the 300C and the Aspen and I feel Chrysler did well bringing as much as they could from the 300C flagship over to the SUV market in the Aspen; minus auto-tilting in reverse rearview mirrors and auto sensing windshield wipers. Love the Car. Nice ride V:). Liked/subbed. Current project is a bass control knob on the front facing side of the center console to tone things back a bit for some music as some songs are just too much without it trying to compensate for the low quality music used in some youtube videos(but I like the videos;). Come to think of it I need to do a video of it like you did to show how well it's held up and the changes to it before doing my Kilmat sound proofing(to get some comparable results). Also planning on doing some head light and tail light mods I'm ordering parts for now.
Forsure, I put winter tires on it last winter and it was a beast. A little hard to find winter tires to the 20s but managed to find some sumitomo's, performed great!
