Thank you Bart Simpson for this video. Every April I start to have football withdrawal. Unfortunately Covid-19 has stopped the combine & the draft. So I find myself watching old games. Hopefully this won't last too much longer. Everyone stay safe.
I'm a Steelers fan from Pittsburgh and I was in San Diego when this game was played. I watched at a Dave and Busters and was the only Steelers fan in the entire bar. I tried to keep a low profile but ended up pissing everyone off with my cheering!
I can relate, I was the only White Sox fan in a bar full of Red Sox fans when they beat them in the ALDS. It's sweet, as long as they don't gang up on you lol. Now San Diego football fans can be pissed they don't have a team lol. Now that games stream it's easy to just watch at home and avoid obnoxious sports bars.

Current steelers fan in SD. Love repping my gear when I dont need to. Was blessed to go to Vick game in SD few years back. Swore it was like a Yinz home game
2008 was a great year in the NFL and alot of story in it 1.Tom Brady hurt ACL 2.Lions 0-16 3. Patriots don't make the postseason following 16-0 07 4. Titans #1 seed AFC 5. Cardinal's amazing 2008 run 6. Denver made a 4-8 final record 8-8 San Diego Chargers a Division Champion 9. Miami went from last to first in 2008 AFC East Champions 10. 2 6th seeded teams made it to the AFC and NFC Championship (Eagles and Ravens) 11. Brett Favre retires in March/ Returns in June traded to New York in August Amazing year for Football
John Hanigosky you can call any run by any team...luck...it plays apart of it. I’ll give you the 01 Patriots, lucky there was a stupid rule in the book known as the “tuck rule” everyone including Brady knows that was a fumble, a dumb rule saved them, aka lucky...This latest Chiefs team. Lucky the crap Miami Dolphins beat NE in week 17 to give the Chiefs the 2 instead of the 3 seed and the Titans knocking off both the Pats and Ravens to give the Chiefs an easier road. Just because a team gets lucky along the way doesn’t make the title any less significant. The Cardinals may have been 9-7 but they destroyed teams in the playoffs, and had HOF talent on offense with Warner, Fitzgerald, Boldin and James. Your lucky comment...is just garbage lol 😂
@@joshuawood362 man ppl have fights. We dont know everything about that. Charges were dropped because Harrison went to classes for that. Hell his girlfriend dint press charges. It was about baptizing his child. Not saying he should have slap her. But isnt always as bad as ppl think. Ppl act like ppl dont have fights and arguments in relationships.
Santonio Holmes was the MVP of this playoff series. In this game he woke us up after being stunned by the early SD TD with his punt return TD, In the AFC title game he made a similar play on a catch and run for a TD that we needed it that slugfest with the brutal Ravens and then in the Super Bowl he made the greatest catch to win the game in SB history.
Everyone remembers James Harrison's 100-yard return in the Super Bowl. What you may not realize is that the reason it happened was because of this SD touchdown at 1:47:18. NaaNee is Boldin on a virtually identical route. Harrison said in an interview that he remembered that Cardinal formation from the Charger game. I'm glad that I'm not the only Steeler fan that see's that I've been saying that for a long time every one who leaves the steelers for whatever reason their career falls off ,Joey porter, Mike Wallace, santonio Holmes, so far levon bell, and I dont think AB gonna be worth anything even if he does get back in the league, just a few to mention, it's a Steelers thing once you success in the Burgh you can't have it anywhere else Steeler fan life
That was a great playoff game and run for the steelers that was one of if not my favorite all time steelers team but also if you watch that game back Darren sporrels was phenomenal it's amazing to me they never won a super bowl that GMs ego got to back he had two hall of fame qbs one of the greatest running backs to ever play the game with two other all pros in sporells and Michael the burner Turner a hall of fame tight end a great receiving core a top notch online Shawn marriman Quinton jammer and quit a few other really good defenders and Marty shotnheimer I know some of these names aren't spelled right lol but everything I said about San Diego is right it really is shocking
Loved this game, and lot people had chargers winning in the pre game show I remember it, and Troy made probably one of the most iconic picks ever in this game.
Coaches scheme. Gms build teams. Quit this, especially in football it takes game plans and hundreds of play calls out of different schemes and sets a game. This is an argument people who never played real football make. Even a new coach in highschool will have the same players but will be a world of difference
BIG BEN WAS A FANTASTIC QB AND WHEN HE MATCHED UP WITH HIS RECEIVERS NEVER SAY NEVER WHEN THE BALL IS IN BENS HANDS HE CAN MAKE PLAYS WHERE PLAYS DONT EXIST WE HAD A GREAT TEAM AND A FANTASTIC QB IT WAS SAD TO SEE HEATH MILLER RETIRE BUT HE KNEW WHEN HE WAS READY TO GET OUT GO STEELERS I HAVE BEEN A STEELERS FAN FOR A VERY LONG TIME I SUPPORT THEM WIN, LOSE OR DRAW NEVER TURN MY BACK ON THEM STEELERS FAN FOREVER
Yeah he made all our great receivers a lot better because you had to cover them like 6 and 7 seconds while Big Ben ran around the pocket throwing defenders off of him making guys miss and he had the best pump fake I ever saw
I live right next to Latrobe and the Steelers had there practice at St. Vincent‘s collage, I always when to watch then before the pre season stared I have gotten so many autographs . This year there not in Latrobe because of the coronavirus so I’m so happy that I can watch the old game’s most of all they win every game 😄😄😄🖤💛🖤💛🖤
Man I miss being younger, drinking a lot of beer, and watching that second coming of the Steel Curtain defense with Dick LeBeau as the coordinator. Sure we all recognize the greatness of Farrior and Harrison then, but a lot of credit to Foote and Woodley. Farrior/Foote and Harrison/Woodley were just a nasty linebacker corps. Aaron Smith, Hamption and Keisel, and Troy and Ryan Clark in the secondary. God to have that defense back. And something about throwing it to Hines Ward and Heath Miller seemed to make Ben throw a little better. Santonio Holmes was incredible all through the playoffs that year. Good times.
Hey Bart, its nice to see you again! Sorry I haven't been on for a while, things have been rough lately. I just wanted to say stop and say hi. Also do you have any more vikings games from the 1900's and 2000's? If you do i'll take em, take your time if needed. Thanks!
This game is important and historical. The Chargers were the first team ( besides the Patriots back in 2001) who realized how you had to play to beat the great defenses of the Steelers and Ravens of the 2000’s. You had to spread them out with multiple receivers , tight ends, and possibly running backs and get their linebackers, corners, and safety’s in the open field. You couldn’t play from under center all game with all the exotic blitz and such. The Cardinals did it in the super bowl but lost. Packers did it in 2010 and won. Patriots did it all the time. I mean there’s obviously more that goes into who wins and loses but spreading the defense out and heavy shotgun sets became prevalent at this time
Yeah the packers beat the Steelers in superbowl 45 but only because of the pick six that ben threw and that late turnover by Rashad mendenhall, if not for that the Steelers would have 7 superbowl wins ,,,,
Remember a couple of long drives and the D completely dominating the 3rd quarter. Chargers ran like 3 or 4 offensive plays (not exactly sure). Crazy performance!
Boy I forgot Limas Sweed dropped a long bomb in this one at 2:05:11. He dropped a similar one the following week against the Ravens in the AFC Championship game. Poor guy man, he was open on that route too.
I'm a michigan fan so I was more excited for Woodley being drafted to us more than any other player come draft day the dude was always an underrated monster
Im just gonna watch the 3rd quarter real quick, remember seeing it live 52:50 "scifres can get them more off the kick" ball is fielded at the 20 lol also 1:26:00 "good job of block" is clear holding but ok
I'm still having an hard time not saying San Diego Chargers. Wish these teams would stay put and quit confusing things, like the LAS VEGAS Raiders! AAARGH!
It’s ok, I feel like at 1:20:20 James was ok with letting him have that one seeing how he’d get another relatively soon in an even more important moment 😏 #100Yards
Looked like an interception to me at 2:09:21 but maybe im wrong? It looks like he has possession, and his butt touches the ground first in bounds. 🤷🏻♂️
Another year when the Steelers didn't have to see The Pats. They were gift wrapped a couple championships. In Steelers fans hearts they even know it's true. Haha Woooooo!!!!!!
2:05:06 Limas Sweed ughh! One of the rare times the Steelers got it wrong drafting a WR. He would drop another sure TD the next week against Baltimore. Luckily it wasnt costly in the end.
2:05:07 Sweed has been a meme for Steelers fans for years but you forget the great passes he dropped including this one since it didn’t really matter. But holy hell what’s a drop
Yeah sweed was the biggest disappointment at reciver I can remember he was horrible we have been trying to replace the great plexico for so long I thought it was gonna be sweed it wasn't than I thought we found him in Bryant we didn't than claypool after his phenomenal rookie year he gets traded I know Pickens is a little smaller but maybe he will be the guy he has great hands and looks like he has some speed here's hoping actually now that I think about it we have wanted to find that antwan Randal El type also maybe it's Calvin Austin minus the threat throwing the ball
I remember the Chargers and their fans going into this game talking a bunch of shit. They were red-hot and came off a big wins over Denver and Indianapolis. They jumped out to a fast lead, then Santonio ran back the punt and it was curtains. The air went out of the Chargers.
