Ford Explorer SportTrac. When the Ford Explorer Sport Trac made its debut in 2000, it was a new idea. Based on the Explorer midsize SUV, it was a truck, with sport-utility characteristics, four doors, a short cargo bed and features to enhance the active lifestyles of its intended buyers. Since then, similar vehicles have followed, including the Chevrolet Avalanche, Cadillac Escalade EXT, and, more recently, the Honda Ridgeline.

We have three of these at my job, 2 of them are heavily used daily, and they're still working strong. Ended up recommending one to my dad when he needed a truck, he loves it.

I have a 07 ST limited with the V8, I absolutely love my little truck. I have used the truck to carry pallets, furniture, large appliances and even roofing material. My favorite feature is the V8 😎

My dad drove a green 2003 Sport Trac for thirteen & a half years with no major problems. It had over 300k miles when he sold it with the original engine & transmission which were still working as smoothly as when it was brand new. Easily the most reliable vehicle he's ever owned. I've always found the design of these vehicles unique but cool. He replaced it five years ago with a 2017 Honda Ridgeline.

I have a 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac XLT with the 4.0 L V6 and it is a nice truck to drive. My only issue is that I wish it had a column shifter. Other than that, I love everything about it: Ride quality, It’s got enough power for merging onto freeways, the transmission shifts smoothly, and I love the sound of the horn (low note and loud just like an American car should sound, really gets your point across lol)

Some say the Maverick or Ranger is its replacement. But the new trucks are under engineered and over sensored. The Sport Trac us the opposite. Over engineered and the Fords from that era, especially the 2008-2010 Sport Trac, 2010-2012 Escape and the Fusion had the right amount of technology and analogy.

My 2005 Ford Exlorer Sport Trac Premium is the first vehicle I've ever owned and I love it. Gas mileage is O.K. I can drive from Las Vegas to Fallon here in NV on exactly one full tank. The most I've gotten was just over 500 miles on one tank but without A/C running and cruising at 65 mph. Fun little truck :)

schonau1969 Though mine is a base model, I will NEVER get rid of my 02 trac.....I love it to death. Have owned it since 03 and plan on owning it til I sell my left kidney to keep it running.............and even then I'd still keep it. xD

I had an 01 sporttrac and I really liked it but it just didn't have the cargo space i needed eventually I had to get an f150

I have an 04 sportrac and I'm customizing the bed about 6ft cause I can haul an rooftop tent on top of the cab and put the rest in the bed and pull out drawers if you want to see pictures ( I'm still working on it) my account is corey 7544 so it's going one of the kind truck to have a custom bed so I can haul things and still pull an trailer👍👍😚😚😉

My blue 2002 4x4 with nearly quarter million miles still runs like new. It was born with duel exhaust, always had full synthetic lubes & cruised at constant RPM's much as possible. Keeping up with maintenance runs about $2000 per year not to risk breakdown but does what NO other vehicle can come close to if you have every single option. Have used it for every veritile use imaginable. About 26 trades (sometimes eight at a time) & about 10 other uses. I vote Ford brings back the 2002 in blue, silver blue, burgundy, green, gold maybe white although it's too cool for it's body shape to matter much.

Nice to see a lot of good reviews in comments. Looking for a decent price small truck that can fit a family and tow a small camper. And bed size should be perfect for me. Have an 12' XLS escape thats great just hard to multiple bikes or small furniture and it doesn't tow much.

well all the sport trac i have seen vary in price and milage from$12000 to $22000 and this is from 2007 till 2010 models

@TerminaorXX no because the v8 is working less hard it is using less of its power to get it moving even though the v8 has more cylinders it uses less of its power to get it moving. the v6 will have to use more of its power. its just like when you are pushing the pedal to the floor. lets say someone owns a 4 cylinder equinox and some one else owns a camaro ss. if the guy in the equinox puts the pedal to the floor and the guy in the camaro cruises then the guy in the camaro will get the best mpg

how do i change the windshield wiper? i have to get under the plastic witch i did but now i have to replace the driver side windshield but i dont see a way to get it out.

The V8 gets a little better gas mileage than the V6. Maybe because it doesn't has to work as hard.

I have a 2008 sport trac -when I got it -it was a demo never on the street -it went from parking spot to parking spot at the ford co. I dont have the cargo cover or bed exter -I wish I did . and running over a stop sine the ford co here did not fix it right.I steal have some problems with it .But I am not giveing it up.

@TerminaorXX you would get better fuel economy and the honda wouldnt be good at serious off roading because it has a uni body so if you go over rocks or something your frame can bend also the ridgeline has a crappy tow load because of the unibody and you cant put heavy things in the bed

I've got sport trac 07' - looks better than Honda Ridgeline. Ford have a more powerfull engine and confortable interior. I love it!

The 3 valve V8 of that time was way better than the infamous Cologne V6 of that time. And was a little bit better on gas too.
