Overdue video talking about some of the setup and modifications I’ve done on my Fit to make it a fun and reliable daily driver and weekend track car. Happy to answer any questions in the comments!
My brother had one before he was incarcerated and loved it, but he just drove it stock and it was an east coast car (rust, but not actually that bad in crucial locations) When we recovered the car with POA we drove it stock, and it made even my 60 year old father admit that it was a fun little car. In the past, my dad never even considered 4 cylinder cars due to the lack of power, but he enjoyed driving this 5 speed. We recently put the car in my name and the first thing I did was put on a skunk2 muffler (i kept the resonator because i didnt want it getting too loud) and i ordered swift springs but they were on backorder, so i got tein s techs instead. They are a great improvement over stock, and i was thinking about replacing the shocks and struts with new oem ones since they seem to be doing great, but are probably original from 2008. Next up is a replacement sway bar in the front and the progress bar in the rear. I also have 15x7s coming that I plan to put 195s on. It's strictly a street car and that's probably where my build will end, but I can't wait to rip it up in the canyons here in AZ. Love seeing the community for fits, they are just so perfect and need so little. And you're right, the engine sounds amazing. My neighbor even was willing to admit it sounds really good.
Thought about the Fit but came across a good deal on a new Si. FWD setup is an interesting topic. Front tire rollover is hard to dial out on a strut car. Great to hear you got it solved with 5 deg camber.
New Si is a really good looking car! I hope I can drive one. McPherson FWD needs lots of front camber to deal with the tire rollover definitely. I have -4 on the Civic right now.
i also am selling my miata for a fit lol. i wanted a more practical car, drove my moms fit and was surprised how fun it was. very cool to see what the car is capable of as a platform!
I had both a Miata and a fit at the same time, the Miata is fun at the track but this video proves so can the fit! And you can even lug tons of stuff in the back!! You can’t bring much to the track in a Miata except yourself. I sold mine and just love my Fit now
Keep living your dream bro don't ever look back do what makes you happy I like this car too was looking for one like this to play with and do some mods
So i had been looking around for an efficient daily driver with decent utility and 4 doors to put my kids in the back. I had done a little bit of research, and came across the GD3 platform. More searching led me to your videos. Which finally led to my purchase of a Red 2007 sport model this week. Its gross. The interior needs the deepest clean out of any used car of yet to purchase. The paint needs a lot of love. But 175k miles and new clutch, it runs like a top! (except the 1st gear studder when starting out? need to figure out what thats about.) Paid $3k, and i was grinning ear to ear all the way home. You have inspired me to finally dip my toes into some actual motorsport fun. I am also located in the Seattle area (Federal Way) and would like to get into doing some autocross and track days.
Love hearing that! Glad you found a Fit! They are great cars to daily drive and have fun with. Definitely hope to see you at the track sometime. Come say hi if you make it out that way!
@@reshinguneko2355 i saw that there is an autocross circuit that runs over in Bremerton, do you have any experience out there? I see that you have done a lot of driving out at the Ridge. Ive only heard good things about that track, but ive yet to attend. I'll hit you up on IG once i get my car sorted. Looks like weve got a few mutual friends.
@@e.dakotaford2331 I personally haven’t done AutoX at Bremerton I have some friends who have in the past though. Evergreen autox is pretty fun and you get lots of seat time.
Nice GD3 man! I had my brother take my GD3 for its first track day at 190k miles, and it did great! I Just got mine stock last year to learn manual, so hopefully this year Ill be able to take it to the track and see how she feels :) Do you heel/toe much in this car ( Or is it even necessary? )
@@reshinguneko2355 niceee! That makes me feel better! So when a turn is coming up from say a long straight, do you brake first, then rev match to correct gear, turn in, then accelerate ? Or I guess it would depend what rpm you’re at? Sorry I’m sure I’ll figure it out once I actually get on track with it lol, just wanted to pick your brain
i love the look of the first gen and I think they ruined the front end with the 2nd gen a bit. However the 2nd gen is way better in every way performance wise besides a few extra pounds. Eventually I plan to get a 2nd gen and make it a crazy track car. Right now I have an 03 wrx but I don't want to modify it and beat on it like I could with a dedicated track/autox car.
Cool video… sounds like your set-up is landing pretty much were u need to be for max performance. You could run less camber with more spring rate and gain some more braking stability… also adding more rear spring rate helps rotation like 10/12. And adding the lower arm bushing helps remove the compliance bushing really cleans up the front end wondering
Thanks man! The plan is to eventually get to those items but don’t really want to rebuild the BCs to deal with that higher spring rate as I don’t like them to much.
So I live in europe and this chassis (gd) fit for us only came with the 83hp i-dsi engine, the following gen (ge) came with either a 90 or 100hp vtec engine. Now the ge fits are nearly twice as expensive, but the ge chassis is also a bit heavier, but apparently the chassis a lot stiffer. The i-dsi concerns be a bit, no past experience about that but then again it’s not like the vtec fit has a aggressive vtec profile like a type r. So who knows if the performance between these engines will even be noticeable. Perhaps I should save up to the second gen vtec fit. Vtec is tried and tested for years now haha.
Hey dude, do i need a supporting mod to adjust rear camber if i install coilovers? Only have experience modding 8th gen civics and those needed rear cambers arms, but how about the fit? Thanks in advance :)
Fit is non adjustable rear camber and toe because it’s beam design. But there’s ways around it adding shims to correct toe and add camber. I have a Kit from Chedas Auto.
I'm did the same thing. sold my track NB1 Miata and now have an 07 Fit, i currently plan to keep it daily but after a couple of track days in the near future will see what i think of it
Hey man, thanks for the overview of your Fit! I follow you on IG and I love your car dude lol. My question to you is. Considering that you have your car lowered a decent amount and you having to add a lot of camber to the front. Have you thought about getting roll center adjusters? Btw how do you like your Godspeed Coilovers? I have Fortune Auto’s on mine, so im just curious
I did RCA correcting ball joints on the K20 Fit and felt almost no difference. I haven’t had any issues with bump steer at all with this car. At current height the tie rods sit perfectly straight so it’s not a huge priority. I like the Monomaxx so far. Only have one track day in the wet and a dry autox on them but so far so good.
Nice video, your enthusiasm for the car comes through well! I am swapping the engine/trans from a 2008 into a 1976 Fiat 128. Your video is a nice shot in the arm to see what this engine can do in a car 700 lbs. lighter!
I’m trying to sell my mustang gt for a Honda fit. Can you make another video and update us on the build and specs! This is really inspiring! I’m digging the wheel set up, and the reasoning for it!
@@reshinguneko2355hey I bought a 2008 Honda fit 5 speed for $1900, has 130k miles. Was in a crash but just needed minor fix! Excited to build it within the years to come! Thanks for the content
Im surprise you didn't put in cold air intake since you change the exhausted 🤷🏾♂️oh well, I have a GD2 AWD AUTOMATIC 😌07 soon start adding my mods I might k swap it👍🏾
Awesome GD. I just installed some BC DS series and it's a huge improvement. Question, what did you do to the front strut setup to get -4.5? Stack cam bolts/slot the struts?
The godspeed monomaxx have slotted upper hole so you can get a lot of camber. I'm back on the BC's rn with about -3. Going to do slot the upper hole similarly as the godspeeds were. Right now i just have camber bolt and tophats.
Got my 08' yesterday! have been hunting for a while and am selling my DC5 to fund the build. I haven't seen anyone else on the NC01's on a GD3 but am planning to a similar setup with K1's in the rear. I was planning on purchasing BC DS, but would love to here why you prefer the Godspeed + Swift option.
I went back to the BCs actually initial impressions of the godspeeds were good but in the end they had a clunk in the rear that would never go away it was extremely annoying. They were way to soft on track dampening wise on track too. I don’t like the BCs much either honestly but they work. I want to upgrade soon. I’d recommend S3 suspension, MCS, or standard racing suspension as a few suggestions.
I ordered a J’s Racing one about a year ago, still waiting for it. I had I think a DC Sports one in my garage so I threw that on recently. Didn’t notice any change lol.
@@stephensullivan2103 unfortunately I am not allowed to work on personal cars that I do not own myself at my work. I can get you in contact with someone who can help though.
I don't really get why I like the Fit so much. Have owned actually decent Japanese subcompact sport cars and while the Fit doesn't have the same grunt it's still just as fun to toss into corners. Like I don't know if it's actually good or if it's just its meme value.
They were good! No complaints. Little on the heavier side compared to some other 15x8 options, but not too bad. They have small ridges where the tire bead slips so the tire wont slip which is nice feature.
