In this video, I show the process of locating and removing the main and accessory batteries in my 2008 ML550. I replaced the main battery back in March, but the dash information system still shows the battery notification warning if it gets cold. Apparently, the original MB battery is causing the issue, as it was not replaced with the main battery.
This video includes several tips and tricks to help make this process easier. I hope this start to finish is helpful in showing what is involved so that you are aware of the locations and can replace them yourself, if you should need to do so.

Is there any reprogramming that needs to be done after a battery replacement?

Hi Thomas, from what I remember, I had to recalibrate my windows and sunroof for the auto functions to work as intended. To do this, turn the key to the on position, but do not start the car. You can then press and hold the window button until the window goes all the way down, then continue to hold the button down for approximately 10-15 seconds. Then roll it up and again continue to hold the button for approximately 10-15 seconds after. The process is basically the same with the sunroof. You may also want to recalibrate your hatch, which involves using the button to open it, and then continue to hold the button in the open position for approximately 10-15 seconds after the hatch opens. I don't recall having to reset anything else, hope that helps!
