New to The Fast Lane With Joe Tunney? Here's a short, funny video to get you up to speed: • Joe Tunney car salesma...
-
Hi, this is Joe Tunney bringing to you a comprehensive catalogue of hundreds of great vehicles from throughout the automobile industry. Although we specialize in Acura, BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, sports cars, SUV's and of course our beloved Infiniti product line, we also like to carry and review exotic cars from time to time like Ferrari, Dodge Viper, turbocharged all-wheel-drive cars like Mitsubishi Evo and Subaru WRX, as well as affordable vehicles that fit into every budget. For 2014 we are going to make a point of reviewing everything we carry, demonstrating for you the interior and exterior features and condition, the wheels and tires, trunk space, as well as an overview of power, technology, economy and driving characteristics to give you factual information as well as information unique to this particular vehicle so that you can enjoy a more intelligent shopping experience without ever having to step onto the lot.
A little about me. I have been the manager at Infiniti of Kirkland since 2004 and prior to that I ran a high end car boutique in neighboring Bellevue, Washington. For my career I have sold over 10,000 cars so I hope to bring you far more insight than you might ever know to even ask. I show you in some videos how to see if a car has been in an accident, how to make a great buy on a car with a bad Carfax, or why I wouldn't personally buy a car even if it has favorable reviews. Every once in a while I'll even have a little fun to keep the videos fresh but I want to make certain you know that you can always email me at joet@infinitiofkirkland.com if you ever have any questions or feel I have made a mistake or used poor judgment or poor taste.
I am truly thankful for the hundreds of thousands of views and more importantly, perhaps much more importantly, I am honored to have been viewed in over 200 countries around the world. We all are ambassadors for the things we believe in regardless of where we were born and from my little corner of the world here outside of Seattle, Washington I want to express my sincere gratitude for you having invited me into your home, your place of work, or for simply taking a minute of your valuable time to listen to what I have to say. Maybe we will never meet face to face, but I am forever in your debt for giving me the opportunity to share with you the things I have learned 2008 Porsche Cayenne review. 2008 Porsche Cayenne S for sale. 2008 Porsche cayenne reviews. 2008 porsche cayenne s reviews. 2008 porsche cayenne problems. 2008 porsche cayenne s specs. 2008 porsche cayenne s problems. 2008 porsche cayenne s reliability. 2008 porsche cayenne s review. porsche cayenne for sale Kona. used Porsche for sale Kona. used Cayenne for sale Kona. used SUV for sale Kona. used SUV's for sale Kona. I bought and still own a 2008 Cayenne S just like the one shown here (except in black) that had a sticker price of about $80k, although I bought the car in 2010 coming off a 2-year lease and paid over $30k less for what was a lightly used car with about 15k miles on the odometer. I have put about 12k miles per year on the car and still love driving it everyday I agree that all of those expensive options aren't worth paying for new and so I didn't. Your second point is how expensive the car is to maintain. Well I asked around and found a very competent local mechanic that specializes in German cars which saves me about half off of what the Porsche dealership would charge me and he still uses OEM parts. A good mechanic isn't that rare. This car hasn't cost me much more in maintenance than my Subaru or Volvo with the exception of those big fat sticky Continental Extreme Contact tires I buy more frequently. I chalk that up to the cost of having so much fun in the car. Yes I totally agree that this vehicle is much more Sport than Utility and that the legroom in the back seat is lousy. Well everything is a tradeoff. I'm 6'2" and have plenty of room in the front seat. Finally, this may not be what the true Porsche purists consider a "real" Porsche but who cares. I drive an incredible car while still avoiding the sticker shock and overpriced dealer maintenance costs. For each his own.

I got mine in Jan of 2018...86k miles on it...fresh battery and front brakes. Replaced the ignition coils for about $400 (they wear out normally) and replaced the starter $1000 (covered by warranty). I know I'm looking forward to replacing the driveshaft bearing at some point...but otherwise it just goes and goes. We have put 20k miles on it in one year... There is really only one reason to own one of these tho...it is because you want a "driving experience." The handling of the Cayenne puts all other SUVs to shame, hands down! The Cayenne handles better than a Camaro, literally. I own a 2001 Boxster, and the Cayenne is just as fast and takes corners just as well. The cockpit is race-car inspired and NOT luxury oriented. This translates into pure SAFETY! The Cayenne gets 5 stars all around (because it is a Touareg) but the most important part of safety is avoiding accidents in the first place. The Cayenne DOES NOT feel lumbering, or heavy, or rollover prone AT ALL. The confidence that it inspires is truly breathtaking. The best parts about the Cayenne were not discussed in this video...The fact that it is a TRUE off-road capable SUV, despite the fact that it out-performs muscle cars all day long! The Air Suspension lowers the vehicle at 70mph...but raises the vehicle to an astounding 10.8in of ground clearance! Compare that to any other SUV out there...The active sway bars also DISENGAGE for full off-road independent wheel articulation. The Cayenne has a MASSIVE 7700lb towing capacity! The stability management will engage the rear brakes to prevent trailer sway. There is LITERALLY no comparison to the Cayenne's ability to go from racetrack to mud pits and hill climbs to sand dunes WITHOUT EVEN CHANGING TIRES. I've watched and read lots and lots of reviews comparing the Cayenne to SUVs in it's class, like BMW X5, Mercedes G, Range Rover...every single one of the reviews declare the Cayenne the best handling, performing, and driving satisfaction SUV available. The thing is, these are LUXURY SUVs. Some practicality is removed to support sportier driving styles. If you don't want the "sporting" part of these vehicles then they are definitely not for you...if you don't drive it FAST, you are wasting your money! However, if you understand and love RennSport...then as someone once said "Porsche...there is NO substitute!" The thing to remember is that there are no compromises made...a sports car and a truck were successfully merged together to form "the Cayenne." If you need a truck but hate driving one (and also understand that they are unsafe at freeway speed) then there are not many SUVs out there that fit this bill. In 2004 when the Cayenne came out, there were no US carmakers building anything close to as capable...but that is why a Cayenne is so expensive to purchase new. By 2008, there still was NO US equivalent...now look at how many lux-SUV copycats there are!! Jeep Cherokee, Dodge Durango (which are actually built on a Mercedes platform). This kind of car is desired by the market but too expensive to build properly. Japanese brands were many years behind as well...and are only copies of the original concept. They do not come close to delivering the kind of performance, or even enter the same price bracket. By the time you find a $70k plus Japanese or US SUV with the same towing capacity and raw Horsepower, you have entered into truck based towing/cargo platforms that don't include the words "performance" or "road-handling" or "driving experience"...these are trucks that are so....BORING! That is why I bought mine used!!! Porsche vehicles are not designed to be "used up" they are intended to be "used forever." Let some rich person take the $60k loss!

Great response. I drive a 2008 base V6 Cayenne that I bought brand new. Paid a shade under $60k for it and truly love everything about it. I still have it to this day with 175,000 miles on it and going strong. Great built car that can certainly outlast Infiniti’s.

For those who watch this with the intent to cross shop an Infiniti FX vs. a Cayenne , consider this a very biased review. While agreed the Cayenne is more expensive, and also agreed there are silly uncharges Porsche does, make no mistake: the FX series is NOT comparable to a Cayenne when it comes to performance. What you can't get a cross a review on RU-vid is how the Cayenne handles and performs overall. He is going over the original Cayenne. That in itself is a great performance vehicle. Now compare the new Cayenne to any current FX and it's a no contest in favor of the Porsche. If a buyer just cares about utility (which he eludes), then the FX is adequate. But people looking into a Cayenne are most likely looking for a drivers car with utility. The Cayenne delivers that in spades which the Fx cannot. And this is on-road performance. Although probably unlikely, if you want to go off road with the Cayenne, that is no problem too. The FX will not be able to keep up. Anyway, I'm sure t

Thanks for taking a look Raven. I've always thought it was important to be honest about everything. If I say every car is amazing, why would anyone ever believe me? I would never trash Porsche since I have owned and absolutely love 911's. However, this particular SUV, while great if you buy it new, can be a menace to your pocketbook at 100,000 miles...it's just the truth.

@@everycarSeattle A properly maintained Porsche really begins it's life around 100k miles...that is when all the known issues have been taken care of and the car is ready...on the Cayenne, replace the coils, coolant pipes and driveshaft bearing...on the 911/Boxster, replace the main seal and the IMS...known stuff. The most important thing about used Porsche cars is that half the fun of owning one is doing service and repairs yourself...if that isn't for you...but you want a race car (any kind of race car) then be prepared to make some mechanic rich.

We bought a used 2006 Cayenne S that the previous owner had the coolant pipes repaired on and then traded for a newer model. In the 3 years we've owned it, it's been a great SUV with only a small repair needed (screw in the steering pump needed to be tightened). It does a great job pulling the boat, is fast and comfortable. Something like a Swiss Army Knife on wheels with all the options, including an air pump with extendable hose. Do the routine maintenance, oil change, brake pads, drain pipe cleaning, and should serve you for many years. Indecently, the handles the reviewer can't figure out is for holding onto when going down roads that aren't level.

What the hell is a 911-995... been a Porsche driver all my life and never heard of a 995 production 911. Oh and the Cayenne was developed FIRST and then VW came along and borrowed the chassis to make the Toureg, which has different transmission, engine and build quality level of a Honda. (LOL) Have you ever sat in a Cayenne and then immediately sat in a Toureg? OMG... I'm just gonna drop the mike right here. LMAO
@chrisali2173
@chrisali2173 6 лет назад
Co developed with VW as Porsche didn't have the resources aka CASH to develop an SUV on their own. They share sooo much including the transmissions, air suspensions etc, but not v8 engines. I don't have a problem with that and I love the interior on my Cayenne. Alcantara suede headling is soooo nice.
@drmindbender6406
@drmindbender6406 5 лет назад
@@chrisali2173 The Cayenne platform is so awesome...they build the LAMBORGHINI SUV on the same platform...but you won't call Urus a VW now, would we? The Touareg is the cheap Cayenne, not the other way around. Since Porsche owns VW (again, not the other way around as most people think...the Porsche Family owns a controlling stake in VW/Porsche/Audi AG). Anything they make will be used in whichever brand they think will sell cars.
@19krpm
@19krpm 9 лет назад
I think if you say you have owned a Porsche, you would know they don't have a 995 generation. Does the Cayenne share the same platform and use similar parts a VW, you bet. Volkswagen Audi Group. Definitely comparing apples to oranges here. Does Infinity make a model that has a 0-60 of less than 6.0 seconds, can tow over 7,000lbs, has locking diffs, a low range box, and 11 cows worth of high quality leather? I thought they were ridiculous, unnecessary and ugly when they came out. I test drove one... I bought one. There is no single car that pulls off being a sports car and a truck as well as this with that amount of luxury. Serious quality. I have driven many Infinities, they go a-b, and appeal to a certain person at a certain price point. If you have the money you don't really care how much floor mats cost, you just know they are high quality.

19krpm If I said 995, I'm an idiot since it was obviously a 993. I actually hate thinking about that car because although I bought it for 22,000 in 2005 and sold it for 28000 in 2006 with about 47 or 48k, that car would bring easily $55,000 nowadays.

This guy makes a lot of sense. This is a rich man's car in the first place. If you wanna make sure you really get the "bang for you buck" kinda thing after you bought a used one, do the maintenance by yourselves. Aftermarket part are reasonably priced right now for this model. It's majorly the labor costs from the dealership that makes the bill rocket high. It is how the dealership industty works. But if you will compare this to the other cheap SRP SUVs, of course, the difference is just too big, because it's a Porsche. Myself particularly, I'm planning to buy one of these cars but first, I am going to be needing my own garage and a lift.

A lot of luxury cars are getting cheap later on...first-generation Porsche Cayenne is getting cheap -- very cheap. You can get 2009 for $9,995$, which is especially impressive considering it's a V8-powered Cayenne S model rather than the mediocre Cayenne V6. Admittedly, this particular example has been driven quite a bit -- it has 150,000 miles -- but its price is in line with other aging Cayenne models from the first generation. It's offered by McCloskey Motors in Colorado Springs, and it looks to be in excellent condition despite the mileage. Now, thats a good deal. I would like to buy it!

I am a foreigner and I have to go where jobs are. The office is on Sunset Blvd. I see Bentley, Rolls Royce every two minutes in the morning when I go to work. There are definitely more Porsches and they are the top models such as 911 Turbo or Cayenne GTS. I am thinking wtf people here are so rich and they drive Bentley, Farrari and Porsche. I don't like living near Hollywood. People here are very materialistic and it is hard to do anything.

For crying out loud buy used, in this modern day and age there is no reason to buy a new car. Where once you take it out of the lot you lose 20% of the car's value, and much much more with luxury cars. Just make sure you have a good mechanic you know and buy a used well taken care of Cayenne, that's what my parents did and we had a lovely x5 for years to come. Why would you pay 100k for a new porsche cayenne when you can buy a 3-4 year old one for 30-40k? And then when you come to sell it, you won't lose that 70k that you've spent, rather having lost 10-15k in repair and a little depreciation. Honestly, buying a new car for that little extra 30 horsepower and 1 extra mile per gallon with the newest navigator is no where good enough to justify the 50-70k extra you pay for a new one. If you were looking for a used one already, fair enough. But people just have to understand that buying a new car is the most stupid thing you can do nowadays, people have said "but I get financing on new cars!" however nowadays you can also get financing on used cars, on a higher interest, but if you need to feel safe in case something goes wrong with the car, then that's the solution. If you get a 2-4 year old car you might even get extended warranty too!

911 people are finally celebrating...because the Cayenne has delivered MILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF R&D MONEY for completely awesome machines like the CARRERA GT, 918 SPYDER, and the ultimate track car of all time, the 919 EVO. AND YES, all this technology ENDS UP IN THEIR ROAD CARS, including the Cayenne...do some research and you'll see that the Cayenne derives from the 959 supercar, crossed with the classic 928 touring car. There really isn't anything new about the Cayenne when it comes to Porsche's history of Motorsport.

Wow. Such ignorance. Such BS. I’d love to hear about your 995- oh wait, that’s right, there was no 995 series 911 they went from 993 straight to 996 skipping 994 and 995. I had a 2012 Infiniti G37X between my 3rd and 4th Audi’ because I wanted something different for a change. It was fast- it had the Maxima engine- but the interior was plastic, and the car was a joke in the snow even with snow tires on all 4 wheels and having pushed the non-magical snow button. My first car was a 1974 Porsche 911 Targa. I am a real Porsche guy, you however, are not. I have a 993, and 996, and a 2006 Cayenne. Yes, the options are way overpriced, but they are incredibly well-made. That said, I would buy my next Cayenne used - yes I still have my 2006 Porsche Cayenne - and I love it as much is the day I bought it, 98,000 miles later. Another thing, enough with the it’s really a Volkswagen BS. Yes, they share the same block and frame and design, but that’s where it ends. There are certain parts you can get that are the same, but they’re very different. Careens have Porsche heads that flow he weigh more air in fuel, as does the air injection and intake systems. Put a Touareg the equivalent V6 or V8 next to a Cayenne, start them up, and you’ll hear the sport tuned exhaust on the Cayenne, not on the Touareg - because the Cayenne has more back pressure which gives you more power,. The handles next to the sea or for holding on, because it’s meant to go very fast, it’s a Porsche. It also handles like a Porsche - I’ve led some BMWs through some wicked switchbacks only to have them running for the road and working really hard to keep up. Like any car, take proper care of it and you won’t have a lot of problems. Yes they are more expensive to fix, but that’s because the parts are built better, and in Germany by real engineers - not a bunch of people who know nothing about cars. No cargo space? I have three kids, strollers in the back With diaper bags and groceries and there is room. Yes the rear is slanted, but that’s for the body style - which looks so much better than an Infiniti FX. But then again, isn’t your infinities really just Nissans with leather and a few me options? Yes they are. If you can’t afford to fix a Porsche, you have no business buying one - unless you know how to fix cars yourself. And if you have tools, there are so many Porsche Luzius on the web who are more than happy to help you then because of ownership decreases very quickly. I’ve had very little girl wrong with my car. Yes the dealer wants $6000 to do all 4 brakes, But that’s because they’re putting new pads and new rotors and new sensors and new hardware on the car. They are not cheap, but I’ve panic stopped in the highway so many times and had to have people behind me take the side shoulder or run off the road onto the grass to prevent themselves from rear ending me because my car stops crazy fast- the brake calipers are huge! Another thing- 12 years later if I bring my car in to get my a/c recharged and oiled they give me a current year Porsche to drive, or will come to my house and pick up my car leaving the car they drove in as a loaner- yes 12 years later. You don’t get that from Infiniti or VW. Not to bad mouth VW, because I bought my son a GTI which has been running perfectly. You must hate finely engineered German cars because you can’t afford one, and cry every time you see one in somebody else’s driveway. Frankly, if I was your boss, I’d fire you. You sound like a Honda salesman as you profess your love for them, which detracts from your usefulness as an Infiniti sales rep. If I’m your dealership’s principle, how am I supposed to be able to sell a Cayenne that came in on trade after you bad mouth them here on the Internet where everyone in the world with a connected device can view your uneducated deceitful rant? But then again, you are used car salesman, and probably will never be able to really afford a Porsche. No Porsche owner would ever slam another Porsche if they have any knowledge or real experience driving a Cayenne. Bad form!

THANK YOU! I found the current Cayennes very attractive and I like speed. So, I stopped at a dealership and let the guy know that I couldn't buy a new one. He assured me they have great certified pre-owned ones with a good warranty... (2 years....I'm a low miles driver, less than 8000 per year)... in the range I could spend and that these are "very reliable" cars. Not being very familiar with that, as no one I've ever known has owned a Porsche, I wasn't sure about that. So, I've been trying to find out and it appears that there are some bought and paid for reviews, because when I read owner reviews, I find contradiction to the "professional" reviews. I have also considered the Q70 and have yet to test one, but hear they ride rough. But, I'll take a little rougher ride for horse power and reliability over a big maintenance risk. So, thank you for your honesty! I needed this, even if it was 2 1/2 years ago.

I really hope you bought a Cayenne! An Audi is actually less reliable than a Porsche as far as I know...and the Q70 isn't a "rough ride" it is a "wallowing hippo thru the mud when you are on the freeway" kind of ride. The extra 1500lbs the Q is carrying totally negates the horsepower, and the difference in towing capability is not noticeable. The body roll and wallowing will cause lots of car-sickness.

poor-middle class men, reviewing luxury-rich class items, always upset me. for some people $3000 for leather, is only like $3, even 3 pennies to their net worth. Only poor man would complain about amenities in this way. my 1st car was an Infiniti J30t, constant problems, I drove it to my prom with no stereo, always in the shop. 2nd car was a Lexus SC4, top notch & bulletproof reliable. Turns out, Lexus admits that they study the quality & performance of Porsche. The Cayenne S will be my next, then Panamera.

If you could stop complaining and over exaggerating many things I think this could’ve been a decent video. Unfortunately it wasn’t. I own a 2008 V6 Cayenne that I bought new for a shade under $60k. I still drive it everyday and it has very easily made it to 175,000 miles. It hasn’t had a lot of issues and has been an amazing car. You complained about paying for many things that I skipped. I only purchased the base model with the Bose sound upgrade and an aftermarket Pioneer nav and backup camera to avoid the $3500 dealer price. I’m sure that if you ever were able to drive and afford one you would understand how advanced they are and that the build quality is undeniable.
@everycarSeattle
@everycarSeattle 5 лет назад
You said the magic word Chris and that was V6 (two words technically.) Now, if you have followed my videos over the years you know I had a supercharged NSX for $70,000 a 22000 mile 993 factory widebody, a 600 horsepower Infiniti racecar and various other cool cars over the years and virtually every single one was sold years after purchase for a profit. We did a review of every car my wife and I have had since 2000 and the total cost was (-2800)...that means you would have to sell your Cayenne for $62800 to get the same results. Everything I teach is about resale value and minimizing loss, while experiencing lots of cool cars along the way. Here's my latest Porsche video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vwNHhPMeAek.html you'll see I love Porsche's so long as they are well bought and have the opportunity to appreciate.

Good review and a lot of people having trouble understanding that multiple things can be true at the same time. Does Porsche charge a lot for features that are cheap if not standard on other cars? Does the Cayenne have great towing capacity, off road capability and combine that in a pretty luxurious package? Yes and yes.
@drmindbender6406
@drmindbender6406 5 лет назад
Those are the things left out of the review that are the reason for buying a Cayenne...first it is a Porsche driving experience...plus it doesn't leave out the off road and towing...things that are totally missing from any other SUV, even Mercedes and BMW!!!!

Pat Edwards, M.A. ... you are absolutely right as I think I have pointed out a few times on this page, it was a 95 993 that I had before the Infiniti...sometimes I make mistakes live on camera, plus the fact that I was dropped on my head as a child. As a point of record, the VW and Porsche were actually started at the same time in 2002, neither was first. They are the same platform, built in the same plant by the same people at what is called VW Bratislava in Slovakia. It's where the Q7 is also built. As for the Porsche, it is sent from Slovakia to Leipzig where the interior is installed. It's why the interior is distinctive from the VW. The build quality on all 3 is theoretically identical, save the interiors.

No no no, the build quality differs because Porsche builds ALL the performance components specifically for the Cayenne; suspension, engine, turbos, etc. Just like if you got the Lamborghini (same platform as Cayenne/Touareg), you would expect "Lamborghini reliability" out of the suspension and drivetrain...which are 2 words that shouldn't be spoken together.

I think you just don't like Cayenne which you can't even compare with your Infiniti because its way better, I drove both cars and I know the difference very well as I know there is no SUV on earth safer and more comfortable than Cayenne. Truck is big enough to load all your stuff for a trip of 3 days with your family as I do and that handle next to the gear stick that you see it useless is very useful which I use it myself when I'm turning with speed, buddy we're different in tastes and choices I hope you understand my point.
@drmindbender6406

YES, THAT IS WHY I BOUGHT MINE! Our family was in our Honda Odyssey and we got crashed in to. We wanted to trade out of the minivan platform into a SUV for more off road capability and to tow our 5200lb trailer. No other SUV is close to the safety offered by building the Cayenne with high performance handling. We bought the Cayenne because it seemed like the SAFEST vehicle we could find. There is NO compromise to the off road capability, 11in ground clearance, de-coupling sway bars, low gear and locking differential just like a REAL TRUCK (not like the Infiniti AT ALL)...there is NO compromise to the road handling because it is a PORSCHE.

Porsche trim options have been like this across their model lines for some time, $800 for a leather e-brake handle etc, this isn't new to the Cayenne. Sure you can get a Japanese SUV for less. What differentiates the Cayenne and the Touareg is they are true off road vehicles and can go pretty much wherever a Jeep or Land Rover can go. The Infinty is a great vehicle to take to Starbucks but I'm not sure I would venture too far into the woods with it.
@everycarSeattle
@everycarSeattle 7 лет назад
I would never take the FX "off-road." Snow is fine with snow tires, but they stink off road. Touaregs also need snow tires when there is ice, or they can be a handful, but they are better in the snow with any kind of tire. If I was dropping 100 grand on a mountain retreat type of rig, I'd visit my local Range Rover dealer and not even consider anything else. I've said it a million times, the Porsche is gorgeous and fast, much more so than the Infiniti, but owning one with 100,000 miles can be unbelievably expensive.

everycarSeattle I watched your video (comical) and understand your loyalty to Infiniti and Honda. But as an owner of eight Porsche's over the years, including 2 Cayenne's (ok, they only count as half a Porsche), I see some of what you say as accurate. Where you fall down is on the reliability of the '08 Cayenne and I suspect you didn't do your homework on the reliability of this specific model year. Now if you are speaking to the '03- '06 the reliability with coolant tubes and drive shafts is an issue but the Cayenne is very reliable post '06. As for drivability and performance in an SUV package I cannot find a worthy replacement for my '08 with 108k miles other than another Cayenne. Now I may be unique as a parent of ski racers but the Cayenne is unmatched for their all wheel drive system, performance and handling on all road surfaces. Hence the reason you pay more for the privilege and yes the spartan interior of the '08 but the '10 interiors are actually cool and very unGerman like. I doubt your Infiniti can match the Cayenne handling on snow packed roads but would welcome the comparison. Keep up the videos!!

this video TICKLES me because in january my father purchased a 2006 infiniti g35 and i bought a 2006 porsche cayenne a few days later. he said he’ll give the porsche 6 months to live cause it had 180,000 miles. since then i’ve only changed a bulb in the headlight, put in a new stereo (porsche computers suck after more than 10 years), and an oil change. that’s it. not even a compete tune up yet. the porsche cayenne is fun, fast, luxurious, neck-turning, and an overall personal joy to drive everyday and the fact that it’s age doesn’t impede any of these factors goes to show that it’s a timeless vehicle.

You might have seen from earlier comments that this car was previous Porsche certified and the couple that traded it in still had about $12000 in receipts after certification ended. We ran this car through the shop where there were about $6000 in leaks that we didn't want to fix and we sent it to the auction. That dealer immediately put it online for $4000 more than they paid at auction with no fixes...so whoever bought it immediately stepped into a $6000 headache. This exact car is the reason I take videos so seriously, because I hate seeing people get taken advantage of, even if it makes me look bad.

Very disappointing. Great car to drive, though.

Coils are a wear part, fuel pump is a common repair...cat went out because the coils being bad cause unburnt fuel into the cat...any car with misfire or rich mixture will eat the cats. The trick is to DIY! Anyone can replace the coils (they sit right on top of the engine) and the fuel pump is a little more tricky but still easy enough...Take it to a shop all the time and it will be pricey tho!

This video cracked me up. IMO unless its a manual Porsche its not really worth buying. This is coming from a 08 Cayenne S owner. Trade my SUV for a 02 911 anyday. Nothing beats manual people. Nooothing!!

as a Porsche guy who own Cayenne, you dont know shit about cars, specially when you compare a Japanese peace of shit Infiniti to Porsche and naming it as a Touareg with Porsche label on it, have you ever drove a Porsche and then start to judging the car? Cayenne is perfect in every way as a sport car is fast and powerful and as a daily car in comfort mode is comparable to S class, and the last thing is this German monster never gets broken in any way that need to be fixed Infiniti is nothing but a Nissan with another logo.
@everycarSeattle
@everycarSeattle 9 лет назад
+Xer Xes Fact check...Infiniti FX's are the same platform as the Nissan GT-R, which is why their handling is so amazing. It's actually mechanically and architecturally identical to the G35 coupe, one of the great performance cars of the decade. The Cayenne actually is a Touareg with a Porsche badge. Is the Cayenne fast? Yes. Is it good looking? Yes. Is it in many ways better than the Infiniti? Yes. However, to say it's "perfect in every way (and)...never gets broken in any way" is like saying saying "Hi world, I have giant blinders on so please disregard my entire argument since it's really more of a tantrum than anything valid." But I do appreciate you watching...I wouldn't have titled the video "This is going to piss off some Porsche owners" if I didn't expect them to actually be pissed off.
@2500xerxes
@2500xerxes 9 лет назад
+everycarSeattle it does piss me off because what you say is completely nonsense although you do know yourself its childish and very amateur to compare Porsche to Infinit in anyway, i know you make a living by lying to people about cars and tell them that Japanese toy is better than this German art, but only people who dont know anything about cars might believe that.

FX doesn't have space is the trunk ! Really FX is superior than Cayenne. You wrong, Infinity is just Nissan.

I've never known a salesperson to work so hard at NOT selling something AND insulting their customers. If it is so bad, why did you accept it on trade? Oh that's right, you already said it. Porsches have excellent resale value. Kirkland Infinity, home of the arrogant sales department.
@renegerritsen6178
@renegerritsen6178 10 лет назад
You rant about the poor reliability (lots of out-of-warranty issues) of the Cayenne, but you don't name a single one of them. Then you say the trunk is too small, but other reviewers say it is huge. Something does not add up. You are talking about a premium brand SUV with an interior quality to die for. Yes, Porsche is notoriously expensive with options, but still these Cayennes sell like crazy. And the FX45 has the same slope at the back of the car, not giving you any trunk space...
@everycarSeattle
@everycarSeattle 10 лет назад
Perhaps the biggest difference between myself and other reviewers, other than being bald, is that I don't just review cars from a script, I have spent my life earning a living selling these cars. I am not limited to feedback from a test drive, I sit across the desk from a customer who dropped 60 grand on vehicle and tell them it's only worth 12 and I see the heartbreak because they know that's all it's worth. I see these people in service with tears in their eyes when some seemingly trivial issue is going to set them back more than they have saved up in the bank. The Infiniti is very similarly sized to the Porsche but very few people buy it as a family vehicle, whereas most people buy the Cayenne because they have kids. Why this is, I don't know. When I do a review I do it so that whatever decision a customer makes they win. Whether their idea of winning is looking cool on a budget or having a vehicle that is relatively trouble free, or having something that depreciates very slowly compared to others in its class. Most reviewers have no track record selling cars, sure, they've dabbled in it only to discover it's a tough gig. Dealing with the realities of cars and the effect they have both good and bad on people and on families over a long period of time gives me an insight that I believe is distinctive even though I am by no means a professional reviewer.

everycarSeattle A lot of reviewers have long term cars for a certain period (usually a year) during which they live the life of a customer that purchased that certain car. And judging trunk space has nothing to do with if you do or don't sell cars for a living. But you're right, it's sad when someone overpays for a vehicle, and then not be able to afford to repair it when issues pop up. I've been in both the Infiniti fx and Porsche cayenne (new models) and the cayenne is more practical, with a more spacious back seat. Also more refined.

Good review! A little harsh on the brand, but you've obviously had a bit of experience with the warranty side of things. I'm still a Porsche fan - whatever. Got an old 2000 GT3 that's as simple as (no cruise control, no sunroof, no nuthin') but it goes fast :) Thanks for the video.

spudboy1328 I love Porsche's (especially air-cooled) and if I was more mechanically inclined I would like them even more. It's my own ignorance not knowing how to work on cars that keeps me from owning one. Sadly, virtually nobody works on their own car any more so you're at the mercy of the Porsche dealer and at $150+ per hour, things can get crazy really fast.

Comparing a G25 to a 911 maybe, but the FX and Cayenne were each other's biggest rivals for years. Infiniti fell apart as a company and stopped advertising or putting money into their cars but from 2003-2013 they were making some amazing vehicles

Ok I appreciate your perspective and would concur that the up-front costs are insane - but as a 2008 S owner (bought with 115k miles on it) it has been one of the most reliable and fun vehicles I have ever driven (I've had in several Mercedes cars, Acuras, infinitis, etc). I can't say how much I love this car. It is really a disservice to claim it has high maintenance costs out of warranty, it's just not the case. I think now, after 14 years, the used market would agree with me, these things in good shape fetch 15-25k while the equivalent mercedes/bmw/audis are all skirting the drain at 10k or less with a plethora of deferred maintenance problems...
@nothingtoseehere5760
@nothingtoseehere5760 2 года назад
I will grant that the scheduled maintenance (which I do myself) is extensive and if you do not follow the service guide to the letter little things like unblocking drain plugs can become bothersome. A lot of mechanics will not know to do things like use an aluminium washer for the oil drain plug, which is required so as not to corrode the oil pan, etc. So yeah, I get that it can be seen as temperamental. But proper preventive maintenance leads to a very reliable and very, very fun ride

You have some good points but at times you are very rude about it. And I did notice that all the way through you talk about how great infiniti is. This is basically an Infiniti ad. Sorry but that's not even a car that's close to the Cayenne, plus its totally irrelevant to what this review is supposed to be about. I gave you a thumbs up anyway because the FACTS in this were useful, despite the ads and the rude tone.

I absolutely agree, with this guy. If your going to buy a Porsche as a enthuesist buy the classic models aka the 911 or the soon to be GT3. The Cayenne S for it's class is overpriced, uneconomical, and too much of Dads toy than a family crossover, but obviously there is a market for that...You can't hide the fact that one it's platform is based on a VW, two its amenities are cheap and overpriced but if you have the funds to floss for extra plastic cabin parts that will never be as refined as the cabin of a ML benz
@drmindbender6406

The Benz is built on a chassis developed by Chrysler, just before they split. The Jeep Cherokee and Dodge Durango use the same platform as the top Mercedes SUVs...does that make the Benz crappier? Nope. Does building a VW on the same platform as a Porsche make the Porsche crappier? Nope. Every single review comparing like for like Cayennes to AMG/Mercedes...says the Merc is more luxurious...but the Cayenne blows them off the racetrack AND off the trails with better performance.
