Cars.com's Kelsey Mays takes a look at the 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser. It competes with the Lexus LX 570 and Land Rover Range Rover Sport. Shot and produced by: Sarah Gersh Edited by: Lindsay Bjerregaard
Man, this was fun to watch. If the video quality weren’t telling enough, the Creed and Nickleback line really cement this video in 2008 (I know the upload is also time stamped). Funny thing is, of the other competitors he benchmarks, an ‘08 Land Cruiser is more likely to be on the road today in 2023. Where is this guy now? I would sub his channel, smooth delivery.
The Landcruiser leads the way when it come to reliability. Yes, I would rather have a Range Rover over this if it were more reliable, but If you are going to pay $75k+ for a suv I want one that will last. That's why I would say the Landcruiser is better then most of the competition.
Toyota Landcruiser 200 in Australia is the winner in its class. It is the best offroader compared to the Nissan Patrol, GL 500, Land Rover. Due to its KDSS suspension. If you can place a supercharger in the 5.7liter it will for sure be the most powerful and best of all the most RELIABLE and cheaper parts too.
the off road ability between the land cruiser and hummer is more similar then a range rover, both the land cruiser and hummer h2 have rear solid axles, both are farly low to the ground and are both about the same size, with similar towing capicities!!
forgot to add... the folks traveling abroad for surgery are the ones who either done have sufficient coverage or cant afford the cost in US. They dont go there because health care or its study is any less in US. It is costly. would you have an eye surgery in Japan, Australia, Denmark, Sweden, Canada or US?
I like the analogy with the bands =) lol....and this is a really nice SUV and if I did alot of offroading I would totally choose this. But the highlander better suits my needs
I've owned the FJ40/80/100 (in PNG and the USA) - love 'em all (Rover's aren't even close anymore - used to be ... not now); PLEASE, PLEASE give us a diesel, manual LandCruiser over here in the U.S.
I agree, why would somebody who lives in the city, drops of his kids to school and goes to work buy a 4x4, they probably don't even know how it works and i agree again with your minimum luxury, however, a build in GPS is very usefull somethimes my opinion: the best landcruiser ever build is still the 80
If you paid any attention you would notice he was talking about INTERIOR quality, I've been in both vehicles and completely agree with him. Toyota interiors have been dropping in quality while GM is improving.
a closer competitor to the land cruiser would the lr3 or a hummer h2.plus the real range rover dosen't have adaptive suspension(like the cruiser)but the range rover sport doses
Check the J.D. Power and Associates site and find the vehicle you want. The Land Cruiser has 4out of 5 stars in reliablity. The competition has less. Check it out for yourself. Cheers
@omarspence I don´t think the LC200 will last as long as the 60 and 70 series. I´m afraid there is to much electronics. Take a look on an old LC70. what do you find inside that? Well, an altenator, a battery, some lights and swiches and a crappy stereo. thats the reason why the old LandCruisers work so well. If you should drown the car and shortsurit the intire electrical system, you can just jumpstart the old LandrCruiser and drive on(if you hav an diesel). That you cant do with the new one.
did i forget to mention the "rich people travel" part?...most of the weathly rich people do not live in the US...they only do business....they live abroad in the UK....but for eye surgery...i think the US has great health systems...if u live in where the money is (NY, LA)...i wud not want surgery in hicktown missouri.....but Japan, Australia...all the countries u mentioned....i wouldnt mind surgery there either...
Are you kidding?! Everyone knows that the LC is FAR more reliable and well made than the RR or GL, and is still significantly more reliable than the Cadillac.
@yothisispaul Like which ones? When it come to high end SUVs, the US market goes for flashy and showy more than well built. Case in point the Escalade, big, obvious & showy, but falls apart rapidly when put to the test in triple digit heat on unpaved roads. A Land Cruiser costs more, yet isn't as loud and gimmicky as the Escalade but it will get you there & back over and over for years to come.
oh i see what you were saying about traveling to US earlier. I wouldnt have eye surgery in Missouri either. But hey if the top ophthalmologist is based there.... fine.
@omarspence i agree with you this cars are very tough but the interior quality is rubbish its durable but far from premium and its a premium price so you should get a nicer interior finish
check where those medical devices are made. :) Airplanes, industrial equipment, commercial or military equipment (elevators, weapons guidance, etc... ) electronics, ... unless we are talking about chips and lcds are "made" in places where it is cheap. question is where are they "designed" and "planned". :)
the best mechanical/electronic products are made in US from medical devices to military air/space craft. It is only in auto industry that US products suck. BTW is Toyota made in Japan or assembled in Tennessee.
@smashbrosfan13 NOT the safest. A "safe" car, people tend to forget, is a car that can out maneuver a crash. This, quite obviously, cannot keep up with 90% of the cars out there in avoiding the crash.
@omarspence Im from Aus, we use the good landcruisers, these new hunks of poo would never hold up against the old cruisers reliability and offroad ability wise. sure not as comfy but a whole load more reliable.
@omarspence ... Oh well , Sir , I don't know about 20 Year , But the people that crash thanks to the Throttle's owned there cars for just a few months ....
hey u can think what you want to think, id still much rather have a land rover range rover for the same price. if the land rover is good enough for the queen of england, its good enough for me.
im kinda confused?how does it compete with the Lexus LX 570? Lexus is part of the Toyota Companys so its competing with itself?!lmao..the Lexus LX 570 is the more luxurious version with a Lexus logo on the grill.
Of course the Lexus is gonna be nicer: It is a high end Toyota that is $20000 more. The land cruiser always has been and always will be the toughest vehicle ever made. I love the rip on creed and nickelback. Those are some of the worse bands ever.
nah, i don't see that brique on wheels driving trough tick mud, it's more made for american people who have got money and want to drive something really big and heavy they compare it to the range rover because it has a history about a good offroad car, hummer doesn't (i think) they always compare the big names with each other and hummer doesn't really belong in the real offroad world
Quality not as good as an escalade WTF? I see 07 escalades falling apart here in Jamaica already. People in Australia, Africa and the Middle East buy these things in droves because they are well built, they will last for 20+ years easily in these harsh environments once you maintain them. Good luck getting six months out of a piece of crap escalade in some of these harsh environments.
sorry man but these "land cruiser" is a copy the range rover!!! range rover have traction control, control train, air suspention, and supercharged engine land cruiser sox!
Toyota is much better. The LExus LX57o is better since it is a Lexus vs. Toyota. When you drive a landcrusier peoeple might not think you are rich when driving the LX570 people think you are rich!
comparing an Escalade to a Landcruiser is like comparing orange and apple. Escalade should be compared to the Lexus Version. Even if you compare the Escalade to the Landcruiser, i still think the Landcruiser has way better quality and fit and finish. with the landcruiser, you get toyota's reliability and quality. Get an Escalade and all you get is problems after problems. no wonder the american car companies are going BANKCRUPT!!! the "BIG THREE" WILL SOON BE THE "SMALL ONE".
hahahahahahaha, excuse ne while I piss myself laughing.....hahahahaha. An Escalade better quality?? Fuck I have heard it all now especially when he lumps the Escalade in the same class as Mercedes for quality. The Escalade and 'Cruiser are completely different classes of car. Try taking an escalade through the mud, dust, water, climbing mountains and the 'outback' and see where it gets you....probably not far. Those shiny chrome bits on the Escalade would get tarnished for starters...
Yes and they will be Mercedes and BMWs. Lane cruisers are legendary and used by the UN. It's pretty much the best SUV money can buy. It's not a luxury SUV, it's simply the most reliable in all terrain SUV.
on average the U.N buy 5 land cruiisers a day i think that says enough!!!!my dad had a range rover and will never get 1 again!!it was a piece of shit now he drives a land cruiser and wont change it for anything..
