I changed those ignition coils a couple years ago using Francisco’s Videos and it fixed the drive Tran malfunction, but it came back now cause I used Napa parts vs BMW more expensive ones
Seriously called BMW and they said the same thing I'm about to do this myself and save 7-600 bucks at the very least! Thank you to the guy who made these keep these kinds of vids coming!

Great video!!! I just received an "engine malfunction reduce speed" error message and that took it to the part store to get the fault codes... I got P300 P303 and P304 on my 2011 X5 Twin Turbo 50i. I will be replacing the coils and spark plugs. I truly appreciate the video because it just save me hundreds of dollars. Hopefully this solves my issue. Since my error codes were for cylinders three and four is it correct to change all coils and spark plugs.. or just spark plugs? By the way I have 71K miles on vehicle.
+4423Scott BMW recommends to replace all the ignition coils and spark plugs, you are not force to do that if you want you can only replace two coils. My recommendation will be to replace all 8 coils and spark plugs if you can afford them because the coils are expensive, if not just replace the two bad ignition coils (buy the OEM coils) and all 8 spark plugs and you problem will be gone.
+4423Scott But I guess if you don't want to go to far replacing the ignition coils you can only replace the spark plugs. Remove the spark plugs and check them out to see if they have any damage. Usualmente la punta te la bujia see daña y cause the drivetrain malfunction error.
Francisco Amaya, I replaced all the spark plugs and the ignition coil for numbers three and four. My engine malfunction reduced speed notification is still there. I drove the X5 around the neighborhood and it doesn't feel like it's back to normal. While the car is running I removed the harness from three and four and I did hear the the change in the motor. I am not sure if she should drive the car for 20 or 80 miles to see if the light goes away. I took the car to get the codes read and I still got P303 and P304..... what is worse now I got a P307. I might as well get the rest of ignition coil's replaced with OEM.
Thanks for this video i have replace the spark plugs they were in very bad condition i got 40k miles and my engine vas running bad.i went to dealer and they said computer dosent say that i need to replace them.the problem is that the passanger side engine has a lot of carbon build up and i wander is this because of bad spark plugs or i have another problem.please help if someone now.i got a 2012 bmw 750
Great video! I own a 2011 BMW 550i x drive. It's been a bad experience the six months I've owned it. Anyway I got a "Drivetrain Malfunction" warning today and the car started running awful. I used a app on my phone called Torque and was able to scan the check engine light and it says I have a misfire in the number 4 cylinder. What are the chances that it's a spark plug or coil and not hopefully a injector? I'm gonna try to swap the number 4 coil with the the number 3 coil and see if the trouble code moves there.
I have a 2013 N63 Idrive 50i twin turbo, you stated it is the same procedure? I just seem to have to extra ducts going to the radiator core. Is there any difference? Thank you and very educational video.

Needing some help and great video I have a 2011 f02 had a misfire cylinder 3 over 100 miles I don’t think spark plugs have been yet should I start with that first. Since I brought it i saw the drivetrain message and it go into limp mode 3 times since February but most of time it resets but this time doesn’t seem to be able to reset like before.
Hey Francisco so I replaced my spark plugs yesterday but I did not match the coils or spark plugs with the ones I pulled out what can I do now please help car still misfiring🤦♂️ I rushed it and took out all the spark plugs all the coils and put which ever coils and which ever spark plugs back I mixed them up
Hey, I bought spark plugs for this engine and I believe it's 17 ft lbs. That's what is stated on the box for these plugs. I also have the service manual for the 750i 2011 but the torque is not listed in there! Bollocks!
So for some odd reason I can't get the spark plugs socket to fit on the spark plugs to remove it. It fits on the ones outside of the engine just fine but won't go into the ones in the engine almost as if it's too thick for it on the inside
Hi Francisco , whats up brother ! Thank you for your videos they are helpful. I'm form NJ and wanted to reach out to you about my 2011 750 li xdrive . I have a Fuel Supply Malfunction problems, took it to dealer and they can't figure it out .Problem occurs when gas tank is at quarter level of gas, when in sport mode and also when in park and engine running for more than 7 -10 minutes car looses power then shuts off. You have to wait about 10 minutes with car off then it is good again.

I got a read out for cylinder 1 miss , since their is limited info on fire order i changed the 1st plug you began on in the video i dont know if that was #1 but after that 1 i started it and got misfire random, missfire 5 & 6 . What the hell happened?

Great video man! Do you think that coils and plugs would have anything to do with this drivetrain malfunction error? I had the diagnostic test done and I was told that there were 3 misfires however that drivetrain malfunction messages wasn’t on at that present time it was only an check engine light!
The drivetrain malfunction gets active when you have a major engine malfunction. In some cases the ecm cannot determine the fault, it is more like mechanical fault, this only will illuminated the CEL

I ordered the plugs and the swivel socket toy recommend due to a misfire on number 5 cylinder, code was p0305. Do you think that will fix the issue it will it need coils as well, I only have 45000 miles on it. I put either 0w20 or 5w20 for oil change. Currently the oil is 5000 miles on it. What else do you recommend? Again, thank you in advance.
I just seen your reply yea i seen they were pre gaped and was told to leave them as they were thank you i had one question Francisco before I did my spark plug change my engine light was on due to bank 1 was running to lean well now after I deleted the code it came back but the car ran perfect for 2 days after replacing spark plugs and coils and now it is saying that bank 2 is running lean now and I have a missfire on cylinder 5 and 6 do you happen to know were the vacuum leak could be coming from causing that or could it be the MAF sensors since it jumped from bank 1 and now it is on bank 2 and a missfire? Hope you can help
It is possible, check the components you remove to replace the spark plugs. It is possible that one of the vacuum hose is damage. If there is not vacuum leak remove the 5 - 6 spark plugs and coils and place them on cylinders 7 - 8 and vice versa. So you will see if the missfire changes to cylinders 7 - 8, if it does replace the spark plugs and coils again but if it doesn't, check your fuel injectors.
Have you had to change your coils on that vehicle before this spark plug change. And did you change them because you got a code on the dash or it’s just a regular maintenance service. I have the 550i gt with the same n63 and 80000 mile. Service due warning has been showing on the dash and I was wondering if I can just change the spark plug alone without changing the coils since they are not giving any problems yet.
BMW recommends to replace them every 100,000 kilometers, but I they should be changed at 75,000 kilometers. Of course, you can do 50,000 kilometers and the will prevent many problems but if you want you can 75,000 kilometers to replace them.
Hi Francisco sorry to bother you. I have 2014 bmw 650xi. Says cylinder misfire 4 and 5 and random misfire. I changed spark plugs ngk and bought 2 coils to change 4 and 5. Same issue gas burning

Si, mis BMWs consumen aceite. Como un quarto cada 800 millas. Es normal se podria decir, pero para arreilar El problema tiene que cambiar los sellos de Las valvulas.

Thanks for the insight Francisco. I have the 2011 750 li with 73,000 miles. There are no codes or any warning lights on my dash board. However, my car is burning gas like a 747 airplane. It has a slight ruff idle while stopped but with A/C on its smooth. What do you think may be the problem?
It goes BELOW the alternator, you remove the alternator to have more room and you will remove the bolts that are holding the water pump on place to remove it completely.

I took the injectors out and cleaned them, new plugs, new coils, checked wires to make sure injectors and plugs were firing but the misfire still jumps around from 5 to 6 to 3 to 8 to 2 and so on. I sprayed starting fluid around vacuum lines and intake and no noticable leak so I give up!
Good job, as always! I am about to have these replaced, as part of fixing the "Drivetrain failure" I'm getting at each kick-down. Are you aware of any official maintenance schedule for our F01?
+Razvan R That information is good is very accurate👍, it's a good maintenance schedule to follow. In reality, I don't follow any maintenance schedule for my F01. The maintenance of a BMW will depend on how you drive it, how often you drive it and how many miles you drive it. In my personal case I don't drive my BMW everyday. anyway, I do maintenance to my BMW like if I were driving it everyday, for example: -Oil change and filter @ 5,000 miles -Air filters @ 50,000 miles (@ 25,000 just a visual inspection) -transmission fluid and filter @ 50,000 miles -Spark plugs @ 50,000 miles or 1 year -Tire inspection and pressure check @ 15 days -Brakes inspection @ 50,000 Miles or 1 year Etc,.. To prevent a future problem with your BMW you have to maintenance it like you drive it everyday day and always using the right quality of parts to prevent any premature damage and to keep all the mechanic components in a good shape. I used to a 2006 BMW X5 4.8is before and I was always doing a good maintenance to it and I just had it for 2 year and I only drove it 10,000 miles and I did all the maintenance I wrote above. It a little more expensive to give this maintenance but in return you have a healthy BMW and no major problem to replace.
