2009 Chief, Indian Motorcycle 

I ordered one in 2008, took ownership in 2009 and very happy with it. I am glad I ndian has finally made it, as this is the best they have produced so far...

I just bought my very own indian chief Vintage Classic Full accessories costing me $38,000 dollars of cold hard cash added with all the options indian chief has to offer i gotta say its addicting and powerful

She's a beauty. Super sweet looking engine and headlight. I don't see $36K in it, though. A real tribute to the historic Indian would be to keep it monetarily within reach of the "average" guy--you know, like the original Indians. Ah, but what do I know? I'm the average guy who'll never be able to afford one.

I have seen Indian bikes in january: AMAZING. I have always been a PanHead and FatBoy lover but when I saw Indian 2010 models I spent 45 minutes walking around the Bomber model , it is something unbelievable, it looks like something from the second world war but modern. Personally yes, I would pay the big difference because to me it looks fantastic and unic, I am sure that expert bykers make comparison with other bikes who are still great wtih a much cheaper price and I understand it perfectly.

So they're going to try the boutique approach with 'hand built', 'factory pickup', 'VIP tours'. That's one way to sell product but it's very sensitive to market changes. Ask any of the yacht manufactures. Even Porsche needs VW. I guess we'll never see a Scout model priced like the Sportster...

Nice review, you look like a natural on the bike meaning a perfect fit for each other. Hopefully you will review the newest version by Polaris later this sum. I'm hoping this time the Indian brand will finally find a deserving home. I already want one.

@TITANCHIEF The only thing investors bought in the 90's were the intellectual rights to Indian. It was a startup company. AMF bought HD outright in '69, the factory, dies, property, everything. No comparison.

I love Indian but 36K in today's market. Good luck with that. I think they would be better to price bikes in the 16K to 24K area. Maybee I'm missing somthing here??? At the end of the day, maybee their new marketing objective will work, but time will tell. Other than than, nice bike...I love the idea of another iconic motorcyle brand in the market.

@Yessong1 - I just hope that Polaris doesn't compromise the quality of this bike, they make the prices more reasonable and will someday soon offer an entry-level cruiser to compete with Harley's Sportster!

$36,000?! Oh my. Margins are important in business but this is a mass produced bike. Considering the number of failures of this brand you'd think they'd produce something that isn't a boutique item. I guess that explains why they are advertising they'll pay the first 10 months on a 2009 bike. They make HD's look reasonably priced.

I would rather have one of the older Indians. I would restore it. The new ones are nice, but I rather own a piece of history.

I'd love one. Just can't afford one. They just about had to pry me off the one I sitting on in the showroom. Very comfortable when you sit on them.

Indian Motorcycle always keeps their beautiful classic design. There's no need to change any of the styling. Harley made a big mistake producing the V-Rod and the Revolution engine (not fond of it).

Obviously not a stock bike. Wondering what this had on it back in '09... someone change out the baffles?

It is a very nice bike but you can find bikes as nice for half that price

I have a 2000 Indian Chief and a 2009 Harley Electraglide Classic i drive the Indian almost all the time and Hardly drive the Harley. I'll let you come to your own Conclusion.

As you know Polaris now owns Indian and this year in Fresno Ca they will be available for sale. How well do you like the Indian bikes compared to let say the Harley Heritage? Thank you great video very informative I have a appreciation for women novelists.

The problem with this bike is so few repair shops. Pity the person on a road tour and breaking down. Besides....I will take an original one before they went out of business, not a reproduction of today. Besides I tried to find out where this can be serviced from the website and got no response. NO customer service either I guess!!!!

@Igotthemotts Yea, I agree, They had some, what do you call, Pride or something that they only made "those" bikes. But the thing is, Its the only thing that still keeps them as the best motor corp, Harley right? I love harley, but guess what it cost double my dad's car, Its the only thing that makes me like it, the status, the price, Moreover the pride in riding the best on the highway.

The Indian is really a nice scooter. But I believe it going to price it's self out of the cycle business.

Indian and Harley Davidson were running neck and neck for many years,Harley just lucked out by getting the government contracts and Indian went belly up.Had it been the other way around you would be telling me that indian in the best and all about tradition.So enlighten me, what's the "Tradition" of Harley Davidson All about? This war between us, I like both HD and Indian, it just came to be that i like HD better.

i can always find neutral no prob on my road king and on my yamaha. pretty bike but not worth the price tag. i didnt find much price difference in yamahas touring bikes compared to harleys, but 36,000 for an off the line bagger is ridiculous.

they are not mass produced, they are all handmade and only 5 are made a week, i have ridden one and boy, is it worth it.

@Igotthemotts Agreed, awesome bike, I would definitely take one over a Harley---- If it werent for the price. What the F**k are they thinking. Indian or not 25k + for a base model is INSANE! If they dont adjust their pricing Indian will again all to the wayside. I'll stick to the Polaris Victory bikes, at least they're reasonably priced. Better yet I'll just keep my crotch rocket and get a used Victory [_($)_]

It's not an Indian. Indian Motorcycles were made from 1901 - 1953 in Springfield, Mass. anything else is a different bike with an Indian emblem tacked on. I give credit to these entrepreneurs trying to resurrect this old marque for the umpteenth time, but 35k for an overweight, underpowered bike in this economy? Good luck!

@rockstar4mahe Harley Davidsons are Far from the Best,as far as engineering goes they're way behind.Don't get me wrong I Love the Bikes I just Hate the motor company and their business practices and there are a lot of People that feel that way.It's not company Status actually it's what they call "Mystique" all it is is Business lingo for keep em' hungry for more. H.D. Turned their backs on the only people that kept buying their "Junk" in the seventies when others wouldn't touch them......

Sorry Indian, the "retro" thing is on the way out! Buyers today are looking for more technology. Stop looking into the Indian archieves, and take a look at Victory! Now that company has the future of motorcycles in its sights!!

Indian is dealing in Quality at 25-35K, HARDY is dealing in Quantity (they made 274k bikes last year) they outsold ALL the Japanese manufactures (Honda sold 10k fewer than HD). So Harley riders WHO IS the ESTABLISHMENT now?

Hand made or assembled by hand? I doubt that all of the parts are made in the USA, in house by Indian. You'd need major dollars in manufacturing resources to do that. It looks very well built but my money's on parts made in China just like everybody else.
