2009 Honda CRV check engine light and a late day diagnosis. P0171. A little luck? Experience? Not sure, but I'll take it either way. Check it out as we find the culprit to this vacuum leak.

I was wondering why you were spraying over there lol. It’s easy to forget the boosters can leak other then the pushrod from he pedal. Don’t see much of this in the desert but this is a good reminder.

HOLA AMIGO COREY. Awesome video and find on that vacuum leak. That calculated load PID is a very powerful tool once someone understands it and its benefits and how it saves unnecessary tests that can be eliminated with just that one PID. I too want to know the difference between the calculated load pid and the Absolute engine load Pid that Professor Erik O mentioned. Thank u Corey for all u do. Take care my friend
@SAAutoRepair
@SAAutoRepair 5 лет назад
Gracias Amigo. The AEL only became standard a few years ago, optional before that. If it is a better tool than calculated and/or I am not using it as I should, then I want to know and learn. This will be revisited again.

Excellent diagnosis, good job! If I may ask, do you ever utilize the smoke test method when you suspect a leak?
@SAAutoRepair
@SAAutoRepair 4 года назад
Absolutely. The only caveat to the is, dont be in a rush to use it (which I have done). Sometimes the fault can be found quicker with some common sense. Thanks for the compliment and support

So my Honda cr v 2007 does the opposite. 2500-3000 rpms then back to idle, it drops back to negative -10.0 to - 15.6 short term trim fuels. Running rich, been chasing it for awhile now. But when driving normal trim fuels are getting back to 0.0 to 1.8, stop at a light and back down to negative -10.0 to -15. Any suggestions? Much appreciated if so.
@SAAutoRepair
@SAAutoRepair 3 года назад
You didn't mention long term trims. If long term trims are +15 and short term are -15, then you have a total trim of zero. Always add the 2 together. If at idle you have 0 long and short are -10/15, then you have an issue. I would start with a volumetric efficiency test.
@woodworks351
@woodworks351 3 года назад
@@SAAutoRepair thanks for getting back with me. Long term was -10.7 to -12.0, this past week I found that I have a open short in harness. When wiggled, the trim fuels 0.0 out damn near -0.8 to -1.6. Long term is averaging out at -2.3 and on highway 0.0 damn near. Thanks again.
@patrickmiller6474
@patrickmiller6474 5 лет назад
That's great you said its 15 percent what should it be
@SAAutoRepair
@SAAutoRepair 5 лет назад
Fuel trims should be 0% . Plus or minus 6/7 is ok. Over 10 is an issue. Lambda is a whole other story

Nice job!!! Did the Autel freeze on you? I have actually had the same thing happen to me and I thought I had two leaks. I am getting more and more on board with Keith on the Autels. LOL He is turning me to the dark side.
@SAAutoRepair
@SAAutoRepair 5 лет назад
It didn't freeze, but the trims seemed to stall when returning upward after I removed the hose crimp. I'm not sure if it was the car or the tool. Still love the tool but I'm aware they all have issues. Would love to get a Launch but not sure where it falls on my list of "wants and needs".
