A very high-quality understandable description of the sequence of actions. Super! Thank you very much!

I enjoyed your video. Clear, succinct and to the point. Even though I have a W-2 12 Amazing all the stuff we have to go through to get to things that used to be right in the engine compartment. Only thing I would’ve done differently, and it’s not really a criticism but just an observation, is test that thing before you buttoned everything up But I wish more RU-vid instructional videos were like yours

Great video. I came out to my car with a puddle under the right front wheel, thinking WTF is going on. Pulled it in and sure enough both my pumps are leaking. Great video!

Thanks for this, I kearned a lot. This is a 10 minute video. I realize that you stopped and restarted the camera at times and that things change when you edit. I'll bet it still only took you an hour. That would be an entire Saturday for me...

A bottle jack is NOT a safety jack. A jack stand is what is needed.

My "windshield washer fluid low" message appears from time to time. I see puddling if I fill it up all the way. I didn't think about the pump since it works fine. Probably the gasket or perhaps tubing. Thanks for the video and parts list. Now I know what to check for.

I had the same problem with my 2008 E350 4matic. Thanks for the instructions and especially for the part numbers! I bought the pump and grommet on ebay for under 10$. Awesome savings.

my 2009 e350 base sedan has 2 motors, a black one like yours and a larger white one (for what?) that mounts right next to it. On mine its the white one that is leaking through the weep holes on the side. I wonder why there are 2 motors?

If mine is completely running out of fluid and leaks even when parked does this mean it is the reservoir or the pump
@tombullinger1683
@tombullinger1683 3 года назад
The primary failure here is the seal/grommet between the pump and the reservoir. To verify, you'll need to pull the inner fender off to expose the reservoir and pump. Then add water to the system, and you'll see where the leak is occurring. You may also see evidence of the leak based on colored stains from the leaking washer fluid. In either case, the video instructions will help.

So tank is not complitely empty,in my case no spray comes out so it means tank is cracked at the bottom not the pump
@faditarapolsi2898
@faditarapolsi2898 3 года назад
If the grommet is leaking, the reservoir could be fine, but still leak all the fluid.

too much trouble, I have A w208 and mine is on the drivers side under the hood. When it leaks you get an annoying light on the dash, that's the only reason I fixed mine

I have a leak right below that reservoir, it starts dripping when I turn the car on , I hope its just the washer fluid
@tombullinger1683
@tombullinger1683 4 года назад
It's probably the gasket I replace in the video. Next time you park it, place a clean, white paper towel under the spot where it leaks. The color of the fluid should be obvious when it drips. You can also smell it as windshield washer fluid has a distinct aroma.

Nice one Tom, have the very same problem on my 211 except it's RHD with the bottle on the NS wing. Keeps peeing out the fluid after a certain level. Will repair this way and hopefully all ok. However, my pump works fine so can I just replace the grommet?
@tombullinger1683
@tombullinger1683 Год назад
Yes, just make sure there is no corrosion on the shaft of the pump that slides into the grommet. When I searched for parts to do this to my Sprinter, the pump and grommet was just a few dollars more than just the grommet alone. If true for your car, it may be worth replacing both while you're in there.

cool video Tom, I have an 09 E350 and my window washer tank is under the hood ? is this for the headlight washer ? im a noob
@tombullinger1683
@tombullinger1683 Год назад
Yours is likely the same place as mine. The fill tube is under the hood, but the reservoir is in the wheel well.

Mine is leaking as well, im gonna check what's going on some day, tell me please, in case the tank needs to be replaced, do i need to remove whole fender or?
@tombullinger1683
@tombullinger1683 4 года назад
You'll need to remove only the inner fender, which is easy. Once the inner fender is off, the rest is easily accessed.

This is a washer pump gasket replacement, not a windshield washer leak repair.
@Marko007ify
@Marko007ify 4 года назад
But the gasket caused the leak.. So
