Was going through 2009 proof sets on eBay. April 2024. Found one for $27.00 I thought to myself kinda high, because I have bought several for $20-$25. In looking at pictures I noticed background was red on quarters and half dollar. Box was blue and said Clad Proof Set. I wondered which was correct but did not want to ask. Decided to bid. I was only bidder probably because of price. When I received it, it was a silver proof set in a clad box. Moral of story, always look closely and try to know what you are looking at. Good deals can be found. Funny thing was this was being sold by a coin shop that did not know what they had.
@@minnesota-matt I think it was around $34 mid summer of 2019. He even let me go through and cherry pick the best slabs for a set. I have 6 out of the 8 he had. The last two had bad boxes and scratched slabs. In never found any BU clad sets with the copper pennies.
Just 2 days ago, I was at my LCS, and I noticed they had the 09 clad set, for $35... THEN, I saw they had gotten a silver 09 proof set in as well, and obviously someone fd up hard, cuz the silver proof set had a $45 sticker on it... Needless to say, it's now in my safe lol!
I bought 5 of the Lincoln proof sets back in 2009 and dang near every coin has tarnished and it isn’t just a little, it almost looks like the person putting the coins in the holders touched their skin with the gloves they were wearing because all the tarnishing is in the middle of each coin and it’s dark not light bluish.
Actually, the 2009 complete silver set had a mintage of nearly twice any other year between 2012 and present. Not only that, but the 2009 6 coin silver quarter stand alone set had a mintage of about 300,000. So in reality, the 2009 set is priced what it should be when you see that all those other sets from 2012 onward had MUCH lower mintage's and are worthy of twice the price. The only thing the 2009 set has going for it, is the extra quarter, which is only a $7-8 coin, and the Lincoln set, which is a $10 set at most.
I just found out something pretty interesting in my opinion, but the 1944 Lincoln & the 1931 Canada cent, both feel the same, and weigh the exact same! 3.18 grams!
Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter, Kennedy Half, SACAGAWEA Dollar is fitting. No need to change it to Native American. Also the quarters (1999-current) could just stay "Washington Quarter"
I still don't have it right. Only the 09', silver proof sets have the copper 3.1 gram Lincoln's? And all of the uncirculated mint sets and regular clad proof sets are the 2.5, zincons? ADD is a sonofagun 👍✌️🙂
@@gunnargundersen3787 There are "some" great auction deals on Ebay. I have about $40 face in 90% state quarters & territories, and I'm still buying them when the price is cheap, but that has been more of a challenge lately, premiums on everything silver have been up.
@@jzak5723 I generally find that the twin sets - 5x 90% quarters plus the 90% proof 1/2 dollar and dime out of the other set offer the best bargains - The 1/2 dollar and dime trip the silver to 1.33Toz. But yes - harder to find which is why I switched to "foreign" silver - Brit, Canadian, Dutch etc.
That seems about right for the complete set. I just bought a couple of the silver proof quarter sets for about $33 each, which I thought was a pretty good price.
Dang it. you told everyone. Just don't say anything about the 2018 sets and the 2011/2013 sets yet (especially the silver sets). The 2012 is priced correctly, but the 11 and 13 have similar mintages and are priced much better.....
