Dennis, It's a great honor and privilege to finally meet you. Thank you for helping Eric answer some of our questions. May you and your family be blessed w/ less stressful times, good health, safety. Your a good man that has raised and supported a great family. Be proud of yourself. Job well done. Eric, What can be said that hasn't already been said a million times over. You've got a big set of shoes to fill and your doing a wonderful job doing it. Taking older traditions in farming and advancing them forward is not as easy as it sounds, but your doing it. Alot of us older folks have alot of respect for you. May you, Emily, and your lil girl be blessed w/ many great things, good health, and safety as well. Long live the cattle industry.

I'm atheist and agree. The way they do it matters. Just a quiet as part of who they are, not trying to jam it down anyone's throat. I find Christans - as opposed to hypocrites - are respectful and nonjudgmental. I think that's when we nonbelievers get defensive. When instead of just naturally mentioning it as Eric and his father do as part of their life and who they are, they preach at and/or judge those who don't believe the same. This is America. We are all free to believe or not and both should be respected. Honestly, many nonbelievers are just as bad and get up in arms as soon as someone mentions their faith and that's just as hypocritical. Can always tell the believers from the hypocrites though. Believers are content to let God be the judge. They trust him to.

Your dad's answer to the question what would you do to upgrade the farm if it didn't cost you anything, says a lot about your dad's work ethic: "Could use another tractor to haul manure......but ours is working fine!" So even if money is not an issue he can't force himself to think about upgrading the tractor because the current one is working fine. Waste not. Want not.

This Q and A is really interesting. I am glad you talked about the size of your farm, expansion, robot milking. When I watch your videos the personal contact you have with your land and your animals is different from the massive dairy operations that seem more like factories. Like the difference between buying a sweater and spinning and knitting one. As modern people we are live detached from the sources of material life. I enjoy watching your videos because work, life, land, and spirit are all in one place.

I looked forward to this one! Congrats on 200K! And thank you, Dad, for answering my question about the changes you've seen over your lifetime. I was afraid it'd get lost in the shuffle. Interesting answer. I've been away from farms for 50 years and found the channel when I was writing a fiction story about a young dairy farmer and wondered at the changes and those were the two that jumped out at me most - the tech and the milk parlor. My uncle's farm had neither all those years ago.

congratulations on hitting the 200K mark and being a producing dairy farm. i stumbled onto your channel a few weeks ago because the topic caught my interest and have watched quite a few of your videos since then. i'm in upstate NY...not downstate ny. there are a lot of dairy farms up in this area but not as many as there once were. the days of the "family farm" have given way to the the mega-dairy farm with a full compliment of hired help, most of whom do not speak English...but are willing to work hard for their wages. while i grew up in a city about 50 miles east of here, i have always loved being outdoors and having good elbow room around me. i rent some of my tillable land to one of the local crop guys. i have a close friend nearby who grew up in the family farm and worked at it for a number of years. he got my wife and boys involved at his dairy as the boys grew up and they usually were there for the afternoon milking, but he was only milking 52 head. he did anything that needed doing along with his dad. when i went to college i met my best friend and subsequently, my best man when i married my wife. his dad owned a farm equipment business and sold Massey Ferguson tractors and all types of implements. the biggest tractor back then was a MF 65. they sell New Holland and Kioti now and the business is being run by the 3rd generation. things have sure changed. during college, when i was spending the weekend with him and his family i had first hand contact with the local farmers where he lived. until i got out of the business, i was a consultant to local dairy farms who wanted to install their own generation (i am an electrical power engineer by schooling and experience) using methane from a digester. as i watched your video building the new manure pit for your new barn, i was wondering why your weren't collect it and using it other than as a field fertilizer. i got the answer when i listened to this video and you said you milked 175 head. it would be marginal to invest in that small a herd's manure output. my first project had a herd of about 850+\-. they had a plug flow digester that had a 21 day cycle and this produced enough gas to run 4 30kw microburbines. they had a separator that pressed the digested manure...liquid fertilizer went to a 6000000 gallon lagoon and was used to fertilized the fields and the dry solids were composted for 30 days and used for bedding material. this was a great experience and i learned a lot about the overall operation. the largest project i did was a 1000KW genset on a dairy that milked 4000. i like what i see in your smaller operation as well as the fact that is a family operation. keep up the good work! looking forward to more videos.

Thank you for this video👍 I just wanted to say that one of the biggest regrets I have in life is not staying on the family dairy farm. I decided at age 25 that I didn’t want to work 7 days a week. I have been driving tractor and trailer since then I’m now 48 years old. I drive a milk tanker now which is ironic because the milk has to be picked up 7 days a week lol. I pick up milk in southern NJ there are only 9 dairy farms left. Thanks Eric

Same. I left farm country when I came of age. I'm 62 now and find myself missing it and my daughter and grandson don't understand, have not been exposed to farming and the country enough. If I had one thing to do over, I'd stay in the country. If for no other reason than for my offspring to understand my interest in it. My family farmed since the 1600s here in New York and forever in England before that. Only one uncle stuck with it but we're uncountable generations in.

Awesome video my friend...to see your dad and hear him talk about the lord for a second,, nothing better in this world than to give thanks and praise to our lord and saviour jesus christ,, i firmly believe that a family that prays together stays together...thank you both for your labor of love..God bless you both.

So cool! It was fun to hear more of the backstory to your farm, and to see both of you in kind of an interview setting. Dennis seemed a bit uncomfortable in the beginning, but I'm thankful for your openness to share. I was one of the ones who suggested some history on the 10 generations; and I was not disappointed. I've been a lifetime professional churchman (mostly related to music); so I asked about the place of faith in your operation. You shared some of that in round about ways. It makes me happy to see how faith connects to your daily life as I've noticed t-shirts, mission trips, background praise music, and the way your words give honor, praise and thanks to God in and through your life. Much thanks for what you are doing! May God continue to bless your work and family!!

Great video! Your herd must be top notch with the many years of AI breeding. Just think of the champion sires you are able to access and constantly improve your milking string. It's so great to see your dad making it possible to stay on the farm and help you partner your way in. I left our family dairy when I was 20 and soon found myself on the outside looking in. So hang in there, you're doing a great job! I'm watching this in Sept of 2021 and you're now at 357K Subs!!! Congratulations!

Eric and Dennis what an awesome video. You both looked a little nervous to begin and then settled right down to your humble selves. The best Q&A session on the tube. Thank you for sharing your dairying and farming lives with us. God bless you all.
