Thanks For The Video. I Bought My Camaro A Few Months Ago, And I’m Switching Oil Brands To A Higher Performance Oil, One That These Oil Change Places Don’t Carry. I Wanted To Learn How To Do It By Myself, And Properly. Thanks For An Informative Video. I’m Ready To Go Now.
Some of the valvoline and pennzoil oil shops drain half your oil and leaving it in the engine. They have a measuring drain bucket that tells them the difference to fill it back up
Im sorry for the late response, but just wanna thanks everyone whose watched the tutorial and the comments. will be making other videos with much more details.
Yeah so I noticed when my car was turned off and I checked the oil stick it wouldn't show but then I would cut the car on and it would show and I just followed your video because this is my first Chevrolet and the oil filter is on top which is weird to me coming from JDM but I followed your instructions and thanks for explaining the o-ring. So when I empty the oil out into a oil reservoir container I literally have half of 5 quarts and I put five quarts back in. I was wondering if I should turn the car over a couple times with the oil drain pan bolt out maybe that would squirt out the rest of the oil. But for now I put the bolt back in got my filter in and filled her up with mobile one full synthetic. If you have any explanation unless my car is just burning oil like that but I'll only have 30,000 miles I just don't know but I've changed the oil and it's just parked right now because I just found a gash on the side of my front left tire
Great video and commentary. 3:25 He's absolutely 100% right ! Do it yourself if you want it done right. I took my Camaro to a shop to get a coolant flush and oil change. The shop put in the wrong coolant and oil in my car. Realistically, we have no real way of knowing what brand/grade/weight of oil they are putting in our cars unless we watch them pour it directly from the container. The way I found out they put the wrong coolant in my car was due to the weird pinkish yellow coolant in my radiator. I called them, and they said they dont carry Dex-cool and they used shop pro yellow universal coolant. Because of the weird color its highly likely that they simply drained the radiator and poured in the new incompatible coolant while leaving the old coolant in the block. That's not a flush. So I did it myself. Bought 6 gallons of distilled water and dexos concentrate coolant, some radiator flush, and a coolant test kit. It took 5 flushes until it drained clear. After all was said and done, the mix ratio came out flawlessly. Since they botched my coolant and flush job i dont trust their oil. They said they used castrol synthetic. Today im draining it out and putting in mobil 1 full synthetic dexos 5w 30 extended performance. The Dealership also recommends ACdelco dexos. Doing this myself saves me well over half of what they charged me. I've also gained knowledge, spare coolant/oil for top offs, tools, and peace of mind. I just wish i came to this realization before i gave a shop my money.
wow I just left Nissan shop and done oil change but the next day when I drive I smell oil burning so I open the hood and I see around the filter everywhere
Hi there question my metal for the oil filter is to tight or stuck idk I took it to a oil service and they couldn’t get it out it’s 2014 Camaro lt any help out or recommendations to get it unstuck
I tried to vacuum my oil out through the diptube, but none came out. I don't think it's possible to do it this way on the Camaro. Worked great on my wife's Mini. So then I went underneath and did it the classic way. My arm could actually just reach the oil plug from the front of the car, so I didn't even need to jack it up.
