Awesome video! Also, something I learned during the process: if the T15 screw breaks, a #6 x 5/8" pan head sheet metal screw works great as a replacement. One of mine was essentially rusted in half and broke immediately. I didn't want to wait for a replacement so I headed to the hardware to find something that would work.

Excellent video, thanks! Do be advised that the little plastic tabs on the mirror become brittle out here in the SW desert after 5 years. I snapped off 3 of mine putting it back on, and I was gentle with it. Pulled it back off and used RTV to help hold it in place and all is well, and it should come back off down the road if need be without too much struggle.

I wish they were running lights. I have a 2015 Laramie 2500 and they are not. My buddy has a 2021 tradesman model and his are. His look way better IMO.

Awesome, now I know what to look for and how to fix it, if that's the issue. Error msg for failed signal, flasher working double time, only the mirror signal is doing that, front and rear are flashing normal time. Likely one of the 4 LED's is fried. Thanks man.

Did this end up being your problem with it flashing fast?? My 2013 says front signal out intermittently but they are fine (front and back) it's the mirror bulb blinking fast. Thanks in advance!

Another great video. I just swapped mine out in about 5 minutes. My 2014 3500 did not have that black plastic piece on the rear of the light (driver's side). Maybe that it is why it burned out after only 4 years.

Thanks for the video I have a 2011 Outdoorsman and both sets of lights are out on both sides. The puddle lights almost caught fire due to corrosion inside the mirror. At this point its almost cheaper for me to buy new mirrors.

Hi, I often follow your videos, thanks for all the help!!! However,I followed your instructions on checking my passenger turn signal and popped the mirror like you said. I could not check the function of the light connection with a test light. I was hoping to so that I didn't risk damaging the driver side. It didn't work so I did the same technique to the driver side and shattered the blind spot mirror. Mine is not the same as the passenger side. Now I am guessing that someone replaced it with aftermarket. I had to remove a screw to get the broken mirror off and the screw was located behind the mirror. They driver/passenger should be the same correct? 2011 Ram 2500 SLT. Thanks

Sorry to hear that it broke......you may be correct that someone replaced it. I havent had one with a screw holding it so it makes sense that it isnt OEM. The procedure for the drivers and passenger side should be the same procedure when trying to take it off. Thanks for watching the videos.

Thanks, yeah I thought it was aftermarket. No way to get the spot mirror off that I could see. The screw was behind the mirror glass. It was unfortunate that I couldn't have checked it without this happening. I didn't plan on having to buy a new mirror. I did find an OEM on eBay in excellent condition for less than half the price of new. Plus I found a matching light on ebay because the dealerships all have the newer version which does not match the original. So it'll all work out. Keep the videos coming, this truck is nice but it's been a handful since I bought it. Lol....

for the LH assembly replacement my light is out but .......mine has the Temp sensor. Do I need a special replacement part or just regular lamp assembly.

If you replace the unit with one that doesnt have the temp sensor....it can cause a check engine light in some cases. I highly recommend getting with your local dealer and give them your VIN # so that they can match up exactly what you need incase there are multiple different versions. Just a note. I have 2010 2500 with these folding mirriors just without the chrome. and while this process was great for my driver’s mirror, I found out the hard way that the passenger side spot mirror does not remove this way: are no clips. The only way mine could ever have been assembled was to screw the spot mirror platform into the mirror frame, and then stick the reflective surface to it. Disappointing. Now I have to find a replacement glass. But hey, with the reflective surface broken out I could remove the screw holding in the base and then get to the turn light. Thanks anyway.

Thanks for your video. I'm about to install a set of these mirrors on my 2016 RAM 2500. The truck currently has standard mirrors with no turn signal or puddle lights. How do I make these lights work on the new mirrors I install on my truck? Seem to be unable to find anything definitive online.

You have to have the vehicle configuration changed at the dealer. Its a procedure where they go online and add the sales codes related to those mirrors and lights. They then download that updated config to the vehicle and then the vehicle knows what it has and they should then work. Thanks for the question and make sure to subscribe

1999......didnt even remember us having mirrors with puddle lights back then. All the mirrors I can think off didnt come with any lights. Unless some swapped them for aftermarket assemblies. The service info also doesnt make mention of them either. When I pull up the list of bulbs for that vehicle.....nothing showing for the mirror.

When I did a search before what I saw did seem to be aftermarket replacements that were modified. They look very similar to the newer styles. Possible newer knock offs made to fit the older trucks.

I honestly didn't know there was a mid year difference for the 18's. My 18 Ram1500 Laramie looks like all the 13-17 trucks to me minus the UAx Radio. Got somewhere I can email a photo to? Or see my 18 here ...www.ramforum.com/index.php?posts/1720540

Yeah both body styles are coming off the trucks as we speak. Call them 2019's if you like but they are being shipped with the previous body styles at the same time as they get rid of the older models that are still leaving the factories. Looking thru the service info....there is nothing about the mirrors being taken apart or the steps needing to be followed. It gets replaced as an assembly other then the glass/mirror portion.

Thanks for the reply. I just need to be able to get the mirror glass out without breaking them. I've got a hold of the service manual directions from a 2015 Ram but looking in over the top at the back of my 4th gen 18 Ram 1500 Laramie power fold mirrors... the attachment is definitely different than a standard mirror (pull down from the top) but I'm not sure if it's similar to the 2 panel tow mirrors (push up from bottom w/trim tool). hey man. I know this off topic on the video. but I have 2010 ram 2500 crew cab. my truck front driver and pass side windows work off my master switch . no the pass switch wont roll down the window.and the rear windows wont roll down on the master switch nor on the back window switches. I changed the master switch and still same problem . any recommendations? fuse maybe?

I can actually say that I personally haven't seen any issues so far with that system. Doesn't mean there could be but none have come thru the shop with any problems. Seems to be holding up well. My light has a different connection. I thought I had the same mirror but both my puddle light and signal light have clip in connections. They don’t connect to the prongs. Is there an adapter to put on the prongs so I can connect my lights to the mirrors wiring?

You ever get a solution to that? Mine have that same clip in connection instead of bare leads. I don't see any videos about it or stores selling that style. I assume it's a aftermarket mirror that used unique connections for some reason

I have those exact mirrors on my Laramie and recently the feature that pans the mirror downward when you put it in reverse is starting to go out, is there a way to replace the motor on the mirror thats going out? Its weird because if i adjust left and right that works perfectly but up and down is really slow to work

The motors arent avail seperately. If the issue is affecting both mirrors then a possible wiring or switch issue. If just one mirror then theres a chance that the mirror may be needed. Thanks for asking and dont forget to subscribe. I have more videos like this so feel free to check them all out.

That specific light is a video that I have on my "to film" list. I have been asked this recently by others. There are 2 mirror styles.....folding tow mirrors and none tow mirrors. I assume you have the non-tow version with the forward facing light on the bottom corner of the mirror. I can give pics of the steps in the comment section here. Well I followed your video step by step and the mirror cracked. I was trying not to apply a lot of pressure but it wouldn't budge. I had to order a replacement but I'm concerned that when I try to remove the one that's on there, I damage the assembly it clicks onto. These steps would definitely work on a 2014 Ram with towing mirrors?

I just did it today on a 12. When I put the convex mirror back in, it took a lot more pressure than expected. It sounded like a lot of broken plastic, but it is fine.

On my 2013 dodge ram 2500hd laramie. Left turn signal was bad on mirror and had to replace the whole mirror head. Now when I turn on my left signal the dash indicator flashes fast at times but all others flash normal also states left signal is out. Thanks for any info

I actually did one of those swaps last week. Wish I had the time to have filmed it. The tow mirrors require installing a reinforcement bracket behind the door panel due to the added weight when it's unfolded. It came as a kit thru Mopar....both mirrors, brackets, and related bolts and thread inserts. To get the lights to work.....the sales options have to be changed online and downloaded to the vehicle. That means that you can do 90% of the swap but the dealer will have to do the other 10% to make them work correctly. Wish I had more time to film these type of repairs but the work load dictates that lol.

hello dave I recently replaced the passenger tow mirror on my 2014 ram my signal and puddle light was working on the driver side but when I installed the passenger side the lights on the driver no longer work but passengerside does would that be slow voltage issue with one being an led one the other being a regular bulbs

if my truck came with regular bulbs for the turn signal and you replace it with an led signal light and the being a normal bulb theres a difference in voltage draw the led draws less power then the regular bulb I had this issue with my western star highway truck I'm thinking it might be the same just a thought

I have a 2010 Ram 3500 and the 12v power outlets or the 115v Ac power outlet dnt work I checked the fuses in the box on driver side all good Any suggestions

Hey David, love the videos man. I have a 2001 Ram 3500 with manual mirrors and no power door locks or windows. I also have a 2001 van that DOES have power windows, door locks and mirrors. How difficult a job would be for me to swap the doors and have power? Are the connectors necessary to do it already on the wiring harness? Would it just be a swap the doors, plug and play deal?

Evening, the main issue I would see is that I wouldnt think that the doors would be able to be swapped being that they are two completely different vehicles. That will also include all the internals as well. You will have to try to find another like truck that you can take parts of. When it comes to the wiring and connectors. Not all vehicles came prewired for items that they didnt have so you will more then likely have to modify the wiring.

The van actually had an arch at the front of the door to match the wheel opening......the truck doesnt. Your welcome and thanks for the question.

I had a truck came with the towing folding mirror too. Didnt know how to remove the led signal? And i look into TechConnect they didnt explain how to remove the led signal light mirror. Where would you find in TechConnect when the information didnt explain the concave mirror suppose to removed, when they didnt say that in TechConnect. And i had to break the led signal just to get into the T-15??

+Song Yan when I went online to find the info on techconnect.....I search electrical......exterior lighting.....and lights/mirror. In that section it broke it down to folding tow and non-tow mirrors.

How would you go about changing the puddle lamps in the mirrors?

The puddle lamps are even easier.....all it requires is a small pocket screw driver to pop the lense assembly loose. I will try to make a video in the future for this replacement as well. Aubrey Roche you can set the to turn on and off. I was playing with my truck and I can't remember if I access them through the media center with the radio portion or I was somehow able to access them through the instrument cluster with the controls on the steering wheel. Not sure if the manual tell you how to do this but you should play with settings on both and I'm sure you'll figure out how to turn them on. Had something to do with the timers on the headlights I think

I’m trying to replace my right hand side and it does have the black plastic piece . My problem is Autozone and oreillys is selling me the wrong part . The new light won’t let the black plastic thing go in there right because it’s raised on the back . Anyone else having this problem

+Cruz Serrano you can try your local dealer to see if they offer them as a kit. Some years models are avail that way. They come you support brackets you need to install for the added weight that go on the inside of the doors behind the door panel.
