Pulled a motor out of a 3rd generation exploder last week. They use plastic timing chain guides which degrade/ disintegrate if additives and repetitive oil changed aren’t used rendering them junk. Otherwise they have potential.
I got a 07 explorer I love it similar to this one it's more of a base model dose great for what I got it for I just bought a cargo trailer to help with hauling when my 3ed row set up

Why do people always say the Ford Explorer is always 4 wheel drive? The automatic 4-wheel drive is 2-wheel drive, I mean Yes once the back wheels slip it automatically goes into 4-wheel drive but that's only a bonus, because you will then need 4 wheel to keep moving otherwise you would just sit there spinning your 2 wheels. You all make it sound like a bad thing.
You got that right. Ford destroys every decent vehicle and successful engine design. They should dump Ecoboost and that miserable 3.5 litre V6 with the internal water pump.
Hmm I feel like I've seen this truck and talked to the owner before. Believe he said his was 2010 and the paint job was custom as it had only really been available on the F150. I also recently found a 2010 Explorer XLT V6 for a great price and love it! Would have preferred the V8 but the V6 puts out adequate power for such a truck.

if u were to get one, which i don't recommend, get a 2010 model year, bc the earlier ones like he said had a trans problem, mainly the 5spd, but i think the 6spds do to, but otherwise they're cool cars, just know what to look for, i recommend finding one in the low 100,000 Mile range, and also if you purchase a xlt like my mom, just know if your a person who just hates blank buttons, if im thinking correctly, they dont have that row of buttons on the center stack, it only has blank buttons, and a tcs button there.
I have 121,000 mi on mine I'm worried about the timing chains if I keep the oil change then I just recently bought it everything seems to be fine I don't know how to find out if I've had a time and change I don't see nothing under the hood could you give me a little info and as far as price wise if I needed something
My aunt has the 2006 version of this one, no SYNC of course, no sunroof, and no Audiophile stereo or nav, but it's a nice truck. The 4-speaker stereo is good for a basic system (:
Currently with a white 2009 xlt black cloth 4.0 4x2 needs some work. Formerly owned (from 2012-2014) grey two tone 2006 xlt grey silver leather sunroof 4.0 4x2 totaled by deer.

I'm surprised this one had the visors in one piece... My friend has an 08 and the doors fell off both mirrors, and I was in an 09 eddie bauer V8 at a dealer last night and both of the visors were actually broken off and on the floor. It sucks that the interior is so plastic and low grade because I think they look nice and they do drive nice.
Poorly informed/educated regarding this vehicle's 4WD system. Since 2010 I drive the 4.6L. V8 version of this vehicle and when I put it into 4x4 HIGH it really is 4x4, as was our 2004 4.0 V6 Explorer.
Actually, you're wrong. You can clearly see the difference in the 2005 model. The grill, headlights, and the tail lights are different than the 2006-2010 model years. The only similarities is the body styling. You might have just gotten the idea of the body styling mixed up :)
@@ultimatesinner608 I think he means that it was released in late 2005, even though the MODEL year is 2006. A lot of cars are released the year before their actual model year.
Oh and BTW, if they would've had a good place to put a center-channel speaker, then the storage compartment at the top of the dash would've been a good place to put it. (:
Mines sounds more bothering than monstrous 🤣🤣, Try one that's been running 167k miles for the past 14 years, with only the oil, coolant, & spark plugs being changed...😅

@@redman4life91 Yeah, mines is about to go down that path, saying that the alternator went out, and its just been sitting for the past 2-3 weeks. But i will miss it only because it was my grandma's car, and that was the car from the first time i had ever been to a dealer in my life. Safe to say i had a LOT of memories in that hunk of metal on wheels....

Mine was the radiator cap wasnt tightened and it flooded the coolant reservoir and it sprayed the alternator n battery light came on, dont do my mistake of spending 400$ on a brand new alternator, get an autozone one or a salvageyard one
I think it was just becoming weak, after 14 years of powering 4,600 lbs, I wouldn't blame the thing, but I learned that sometimes you have to spend a little more, ESPECIALLY when its a automotive vehicle, but hey, I AIN'T TRYNA SPEND MONEY, so we'd got a used one which we think its bad too. What happened was my mom had dropped a family member off, and she'd went to start it, it cranked than started clicking, so they jumped it, and it started, then had turned off, kept doing that, finally after a while it decided to run, so my mom took it to my family's mechanic, but before it made it off the freeway, it turned off again... (They were all safe though, because my cousin was following behind) so my stepfather literally had to PUSH it the other 0.8 miles to his place, so blah blah blah they installed the (new to us) one, and like a few days later, it does the same thing. So its just been sitting.
Sorry but your Jeep Liberty has been confirmed to average 22 MPG Hwy. 23-25 is possible if you drive with an egg under your foot while never downshifting into overdrive nor passing 55 MPH with the A/C off. 27MPG, only possible traveling down a mountain while being pushed by a Toyota Prius. Just isn't realistic.

I owned a 2003 Jeep Liberty and a 2002 Ford Explorer. Yes the jeep is more reliable but it's pretty dam small. Ur comparing a 2 row seat vehicle to a 3 row seat vehicle. There not in the same class.
That's if you don't include reliability... My mom has one, and they have a decent amount of gear slip (Especially the 5spd w/ O-D) Other than that, it's only needed regular maintenance... (also the alternator has went out, so its been sitting for the past 3 weeks, other than that its fairly decent...)
No, they do not! In fact, nearly 50 percent of 2002-2010 Explorers did t have 3rd row. That changed until the new 2011 models were introduced where 3rd row became standard.
