Thank you so much, I couldn't figure out how to get those retaining pieces off until I watched your video. I also wanted to mention my car air had a nasty smell even with the filter out, so I followed a tip I read elsewhere to spray Oust (air sanitizer) into the space where the filter goes (with no filter) and run the vents on high for a few minutes and windows open, before installing the new filter; hopefully that did the trick.
