Thanks for the super helpful video! Helped this 29y/o step mom do the swap for the first time ever. & now the kids have an Air conditioned vehicle to be picked up in during the AZ summer. Shared knowledge is community prosperity! ❤
Sorry to hear that, ours has had no real problems just regular maintenance stuff. The only issue we had was a smog valve and now an alternator. Not too bad for 260K. We are looking at getting a new KIA later this year.
Nice work. Back in the mid eighties, a long time ago, I worked at an alternator and starter shop. I just have to say, today’s vehicles are a lot tougher to wrench on. Not necessarily a bad thing, today’s cable/wire management and belt tensioning systems humiliate the older systems. It’s almost laughable now how we used to tighten belts with the biggest pry bar/screwdriver you could jamb down in between the alternator and whatever was closest and torque the belt tight while another guy tightened the pinch bolt (praying it didn’t strip). Just saying.
Pretty good, I think I can figure it out from here. It would have been better if you could have positioned the camera to watch while you were removing it, but seeing the reinstall will assist in that part. Thanks.
Maybe. That bottom bolt that the alternator pivots on is kind of tricky and I don’t know if it would hit that plastic guard before it came completely out plus, you need to be able to put the belts and stuff back on. I’m pretty sure you could but not 100%.
