I'm really disappointed to hear this review post incorrect fuel economy for the cars. The E550 sedan gets 24mpg on the highway and the coupe gets 23mpg on the highway which is amazing considering the torque rich V8 with 382hp and 391 lb-ft torque. I just picked up a 2009 E550 sedan and I'm getting 26-27mpg on the highway regularly.
Take a Mercedes, subtract beauty, passions, emotion, elegance, and youve got a Lexus. Japanese cars are efficient and reliable, not inspiring, the perfect car for those that believe the only purpose of vehicles is to get you from point A to point B safely and efficiently. I personally enjoy the way a Mercedes glides you to work fresh and energetic no matter what went wrong at home and is there at the end of the day to melt away every bit of stress accumulated at work.
A hybrid version of this generation E-Class (W212) came out in the model year 2013 The E400 HYBRID (for the american market) and for the european market theres the E300 BlueTech HYBRID which combines a Inline 4 cylinder diesel engine with a electric motor, the E400 HYBRIDS engine is a V6 with electric motor and Mercedes Benz has put the hybrid battery in the engine bay instead of in the trunk since this is where most car manufactures put their hybrid batterys this might be the worlds first hybrid car that gives you that luggage space that you want in a hybrid vehicle without the battery pack intruding on luggage space.
Question. We has a 2009 C-300 Sport for 3 days while our 2001 E-320 was being serviced. While driving I noticed that there is no longer a kick-down function. Nor does the gas peddle have the same feel. It's like to peddle doesn't go down as far as the one on our E. Has anyone else noticed this? Is this new peddle just on the C or is it on all the MB models. Only ask because we a planning on ordering our 2011 E-350 or E-350 Bluetech come Oct. 2010, our family tradition to get a new E every 10yrs.
Belive me pmb600, If you are a real E-class fan like me and you, you won't let a few mis-statements by a lady who clearly doesn't know what she is talking about deter you from getting your new E-Class. Enjoy your new E-550, I personally am waiting for the new 2011 E-350 BlueTec.

My mother has own two E clases, 1997 e 320 (my first car :D) and a 2007 e 350. I've adored both those E clases. I think the E class is perfect. I REALLY DON'T LIKE THIS MODEL! I think the lines and proportions are aweful! and the worst thing is they offer a COUPE version? If you want a coupe you get a SL or a SLK. Not really feeling you mercedes
Mercedes do have good performance and handling but their quality is sh*t ive seen first hand how crappy they are ive had them breakdown on me twice and i would have to take them in the shop all the time and get charged about $2000 on average each time i am not exaggerating (owned a s class and slk)
COME ON... if u review the SL the S class even the CLS what will you say? These cars come from a galaxy far far away... ??? E class coupe is a nice car, but not the flagship!! (Flagship= the best or most important thing owned or produced by a particular organization. Apple/dictionary)
Mercedes had quality problems due to many factors a couple of years ago and you're full of shit when saying "far more".... German cars are just better, much more innovative and better handling. Germans developped the car you know? And before 90-ties Japanese were no match to Germans even in terms of reliability.
@zagross16 Jezus christ... I thought KBB was pretty respectable but this is just rediculous. Seriously.. even my car-hating girlfriend knows the S-class is positioned higher in the gamma then the E-class.
sorry, a boring review. tell me about mechanics, drive and features - who cares if it comes with an oval or square exhaust. i can go and see that myself. poor job
