The Cloverfield monster Richard P. reviews the new 2010 Mercedes E63 AMG. Not happy with his review, J.F. Musial jumps in to add his opinion, as if it matters.
The second guy with the white shirt Dosent know anything he said, C63 is sporty sedan and the E63 is a luxurious Saloon , isn't a apple to Apple comparison
this second guy with the white shirt has no clue what is he talking about! nothing more then a sound machine? I just took out a 2010 E63 for a test drive its got 15k miles on it still has that new car smell and is an amazing machine! this guy is smoking some thing funny!
thats what happens when your car has a NAME. They can fly under the radar and still get away with "glittery" "flashy" stuff, rather than the older models.
this is an amazing car coming from someone whose actually driven it. I don't see anything wrong with the car except for the price tag. The big downside to this car is that its an AMG and AMG depreciates faster than a BMW 7 series. $110,000 car with 5000 miles becomes 79000.

I can't imagine that Mercedes-AMG would make such a U-turn on this current E63. Having passively and aggressively driven the both the previous E63 and E55 as well as the current C63, I would honestly be shocked to find such a degradation in the quality and performance that supports the flagship E-class. And to address your concern JF, the C63 handles much sharper and aggressively than the previous E63, something unlikely to change.
It's funny that JF says the new AMG's are worse because the old E63 AMG handled worse, wasn't as quick, and seemed about the same in the looks department. The new naturally aspirated engines are much nicer then the supercharged 5.5's were as well. JF is literally the only review I have ever seen of this car that says AMG is going in a backwards direction. Most say ever since the black series they've been on a role, (CLK black NOT SL black, which is just silly)

I agree about the Mercedes interior quality thing. Many of their "lower end" models just don't offer that top notch interior that you would expect for that price. And in the case of AMG, its just the normal interior from that product line with upgraded seats and AMG badges. To be honest, my loyalty to Mercedes is fading, maybe this new CLS will rekindle the flame.

JF check top gear amg e63 time is around 1.26 and that means it is fast, faster than the c class because of the new suspension and same engine with more power i like the c class better but i think we need to w8 for the 2012 or 2013 for the new c class and see that with suspension updates and new engine line-up
the intro to the car looked like it came right out of an 80's episode of top gear...JF you listening? tighten the production up a little bit...other than that I sort of agree with JF on this one. AMG is not quite what it used to be, but that being said it's still pretty amazing. And I mean what is with all of this driver assist stuff? Mercedes have their roots in luxury and racing, not idiotproofing their cars, if I spend that much on a car, I want to DRIVE it, right JF?

let me see if I get this.... this Benz is 100k and CTS-V is 60k... for 40k, difference there better be a frig and space to live in that car. I'm sure build material and quality goes to the Benz, but for forty grand more... no thank you. Have you guys ever thought about doing used car review of say a 4 year old car that might be more affordable. Or how about review of recent cars that are appreciating in value.
I know I haven't driven one & probably never will. This is just my opinion. I love Mercedes, especially AMGs. With the E Class AMG, I really wanted to like it, & whilst I love it from the front, side, & above, the back looks ugly to me, & I absolutely hate the interior, very un-Mercedes like. The interior doesn't look welcoming, comfortable, luxurious, unique, etc, etc. The CLS, C, & S pull it of far better.
AMG is just like BMW's "M" series...used to be amazing...now it's just a status symbol. When you start throwing the symbol on things like SUV's and 6 ton sedans...it kind of loses its original purpose. And while the current AMG and M car's are still very good...they've lost their "driver's car" status and moved into the "bling" status more or less. At least Audi hasn't tainted their "S" line yet, and is the only remaining German luxury automaker that makes great looking cars.
That interior really doesn't look that great... I'd really have to be in it to tell, but it doesn't look much better than the Charger I rented a few weeks ago. ckb115 is right. 40k more for this car than the CTS-v should show a bit more.
@Bansheeflyr I dunno like I said the intro just looked dated, and the music choice kinda made it sound like a cheap porno flick or something. Now I don't want to bash FLD or J.F. cuz I can't go without my daily dose of FLD. I just felt like the intro was a bit tacky. With that in mind I liked the review and I think J.F. is bringing some good points to the table. That said Merc and AMG are quality cars, it's just that they're known for being above and beyond, and this one wasn't to me
Two points of view I disagree with... Drove one. It's a thousand times better than how these misunderstanding individuals make it out to be. It's actually 6,300 times better.
These two dopes don't know what they're talking about. I have a loaded 2010 E550 and it is very luxurious inside. Same car almost except for the power.
JF is right. But I see this E63 AMG as a big, bad, classic Mercedes-Benz for people who like to rob banks and shoot out with the police while smoking and wearing sunglasses, even at night. A car like the good ol' E500! :)
this dude never tells the strait truth, the "M" suv comments topped with the horrid 355 comment formed the snowball and now its out of control. His reviews always have some crazy skew or bias...... and it sounds more like a spec sheet regurgitation than a knowledgeable review of the vehicle, and I mean that in the best way possible. .......
I've driven it for a couple of days the interior isn't much , granted, but isn't bad the leather seats are awesome as all benzes are ... way better than the new 5 or the A6 even A8 . The chasis is what I don't like it still feels like the peugoet 407 that I had a couple of years ago steers into corners better & nimbler....Any how still better than my GS 450 :S AMG's should stop being muscle cars that they are now & return to their roots ..Make us want to push it through the curves....
Personally I think the new BMW M5 will destroy that car, i got to sit in one not bad and kudos on calling out that stupid clock in the instruments pissed me off too
dam lots of bashing- its called a review . to be honest i love the amg but it is refreshing to hear a review that does not blow smoke up m benz ass - if u think about it he is correct- you can get the same car - the 50 hp in the c and some leg room-
If you want to watch a proper car review, go watch Top Gear. They know about cars. The only reason why I watched this was bc I wanted to see the E63. End of story.
I like wht the first guy said meanly cuz I have a e63 but the second guy isn't even makin sense. The black serious are for wht he said the e class does. They are loud and can't handle at all. For example when Jeremy clarkson took the new c73 AMG black out on the track he managed only 4 laps before he shredded the tires. Don't get me wrong I love AMG so much and the e class is a great car.
@AccidentallyFunny Hyundai Genesis... I mean, its not german luxury, but its hella good for 33,000 stock. And still performs pretty well. Regardless though, you get what you pay for.
For $100k I'd take 2, but here in Australia it costs...wait for it... north of $255k Absolute rip off considering the list price is $198k and the rest is in taxes
